Away for a few days on Eyre Peninsula to try and get some more caches.Lot's of driving between the caches this time.Luckily I left when I did, as the next night there was a big storm and large hail. That wouldn't have been fun in the swag.A quick find once the traffic passed. Can you believe you could almost get muggled here?TFTC

The Non Wangaratta Event Tour 2021! Razz
Covid has postponed the Mega in Victoria until January but leave had been granted for AnyMules to attend with me and Bushfire. So Anymules and I went on a tour to Eyre Peninsular and mid north South Australia instead whilst Bushfire joined us in spirit only as covid meant he couldn't come here either. Big Grin Not needing anything for my yearly goals I hoped I didn't add too many to the DNFs [B)]Cool

Day 2: Let's head over and get the Cleve Cleaver. Big Grin
We can say we went to the ferns and found you cache. Smile

Only one of the three goals from last year achieved. Twisted So once again trying and fill my calendar with multi-caches and complete loop 11 again this year. [^] For my third goal I will try and get my DNF numbers from over fifty to single digits. Cool That should keep me busy again this year! [:o)]

***Thanks valiantscot for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Big Grin

I knew there was one on this road somewhere. But every time I’ve travelled this road I’ve been on a mission to get where I was going. A bit of time to spare today & a slight detour had me discovering this one quickly. However I’m very frustrated at myself realising exactly how many times I’ve driven past! TFTC

Travelling Australia since March 2014 it has been a while since in SA but enjoying this visit greatly.

We moved today to Cowell then headed out to explore the local area using Geocaching as a guide. Windy and rainy still so the GeoCruiser is covered in red mud [8)] from all the slipping and sliding. Razz

Hi there valiantscot,

RE: Your cache **"have you been to ferns"**

After our previous DNF we returned with some info from a previous finder - unfortunately the cache still wasn't found, even after expanding our search zone. We suspect that the cache has gone missing.

Regards

Ian & Penny

This is the 1st of 1 caches we didn't find today. Twisted[:(!]

We spent quite some time here at around 12:07:00 PM, but we just couldn't locate your cache, so a DNF from us - - - not stating it's not there... just that we couldn't spot it. Twisted

With holidays for the geokids and geoDad, it was time for a drive to knock a few geocaches off the search list and look around Kimba and surrounds. A nice quick find on our casual drive. A very interesting location with great historical significance. Replaced the cache at GZ as others should visit as well. Happy to remove my log if this replacement is not acceptable. TFTC

A Great weekend away doing the Googs Track with good friends. Lots of different scenery and a lot of fun
We had a great time seeing some good ranges of different styles of caches now it was time to grab a few caches around the Whyalla area.

Thanks for putting these caches out for us to find valiantscot

10-Oct-13
After completing our trek along the Googs Track and back through the Gawler Ranges, it was time to rack up some numbers in the Whyalla area - gee there are a lot of caches around here. Smile

Today our focus was on the FITG series then down south to Cowell and return to Whyalla. Started out early but didnt get back until 10pm. TFTC. Big Grin

This cache would have to be the highlight of GeoMonkeys trip. We decided to go find those "off the beaten track" caches, those ones along the coast & those ones with views. GeoMonkey slows the car down for this one and geowife starts screaming - "NO, NO, NO!". I thought she had lost the plot, she didn't realise I was pulling up at the cache location and I didn't see the 4 foot snake sunning itself on the other side of the road. Geowife hates it when GeoMonkey spots a snake as he likes to have a closer look & this is what she initially thought he was about to do. It was already close enough! Off walks GeoMonkey towards the cache location watching the snake and had geowife keep an eye on it too... just in-case it headed that way. Half way to the cache a farmer drives by & off goes the snake into the grass towards my direction. I get the cache, sign the log, picked up a Pathtag then proceeded back towards the car... taking a much wider berth to the right side and curve round towards the car. As I near the car, the snake was now laying exactly where I had first entered the grass. Not long after, on the way to another cache, we spotted a 5 foot snake, now my day was really complete Big Grin TFTC

I have now,by the way the fruit is not a wild peach but wild apricot and I woul truly advise against tasting let alone eating one of these little suckers, they are very astringent in taste and will affect your taste buds all day,the only wy to get the taste out of your mouth is to try something like chewing tobacco, believe me I have tried the little suckers but only once many years ago while doing a bush tucker outing, anyway tftc.

This cache had not been found in over a year so we thought we had better take a look. GZ quite overgrown... we eventually found a broken cache container and a few trinkets spread around. We replaced the cache (see pic) signed our names and continued.
Interesting history.
Cheers SS

Yes I have. I even took a picture. What a Beaut flattish spot nestled between the hill with a creek and the wind farm. They would have been able to tap in to both sides. So why isn't there Ferns here [?]

Yes we have been to Ferns. Looks like it would have been a very nice place for a town if things had worked out.

We like these caches with local history information.

The container really needs replacing! Will try to get back here in a few weeks and replace it if no-one else had before then.

container lid is cracked in many places and will need replacing before it rains (not that it looks like that happens much around here). Would have been a nice spot for a township. The cows were enjoying the view! TFTC.

Going through our old (Paper) notes and realized we hadn't logged this when we did it back on the 04/05/2008

We had a great day caching around the district for the whole day.

Luckily for me the wife, who is far more flexible than I - was able to climb / reach up there otherwise it would have been a no go.

I can't believe that we didnt log any of the finds - turns out both the wife and I both thought the other had logged them!!!!!!!

Got to this one just as the sun was setting (see pics). Jumped out of the car, took two steps, and bugger me nearly stepped on a lizard (see pics),swore once again. After the initial heart flutter, it was on with business. Hmmm what business would that be? Yep, you guessed it Tweety needed a WC!! Hmm, a bush out here, not a chance!! After the unscheduled break, it was time to get the light out, yes, it had batteries, and it worked!! Found the cache, replaced, headed back to the car, a bugger me I got a three corner jack in my foot (yes the same one as the stick!!) Do I go for the third one?
