Quick find after an hour walk from the camphround this morning.Awesome views from the top, loved the area!We grabbed the travel bug as well.TFTH
yeayy went yesterday but only with screenshot of the map and didnt found it and went back today with the gps and found it! TFTC
We had a spare day in Katherine and after some research decided to do The Butterfly Gorge walk. Well this walk certainly did not disappoint and to have some caches on here as well was a bonus. Probably one of our favourite hikes to date. We came unprepared for geocaching, not looking at the photo's before we left and not taking our phones with us, we couldn't access. We are disappointed we have to log a DNF on this one, but that is how it goes sometimes. We have since looked at the photo's and just didn't go high enough. Thanks TeamGeoPlesk
Today we walked in Katherine Gorge along the Baruwei loop, Windolf walk to Jedda's rocks and return via Waleka and Yambi walks. What a warm sunny day, rewarded with magnificent views along the way. Mrs poolpool certainly made hard work of this one, when Mr poolpool said here it is!!! TFTC
We decide to ride a few of the tracks with a few side shoots being walked. It was an interesting ride and would hate to be here when it is busy and meet another rider on these multi use two way tracks. Met a few walkers when we got closer to pats lookout.
We made our way to this cache since it was not far off the track. And after a bit of a search we located it.
TNLNSL.

Out for a big walk today with friends whilst we spend a few days in Katherine. Great to be able to also pick up a few caches along the way.
We did 19km all up and visited some amazing spots.
Beautiful view from here. Thanks for the photo which helped.

We searched quite a while until we found it, it would help to know, that it's not on the top level.

Today our tour - which began in Perth, WA , and led us thru Western, Northern and Southern Australia back to Perth, was simply driving around in the Kakadu NP.
On the way we came to some interesting locations. Here we searched, found and logged this Tradi-Cache.
Weather was good in the morning and it should even get better during the day.
Thanks to 'TeamGeoPlesk' for showing us this location, for the fun we had with 'Flutterby George' and for the smiley. The search here and today didn't take too much time, fortunately.
Greetings from Germany and we hope to see you soon in the forest, prairie, desert or outback .

From 23.09 until 24.11.2019 Stadibast and I spent our holidays in Australia.
During the first four weeks we drove with a camper van from Darwin to Perth along the West coast and its amazing national parks, in which we made several hiking tours.
After that we flew to the wonderful green Tasmania for a roundtrip lasting two weeks.
For the last three weeks we went back to the continent and followed the South-East-Coast from Melbourne to Sydney.
We had impressive nine weeks in Australia, in which we hiked through various national parks, visited interesting sights and met many friendly and helpful people.
Thanks to all owners for setting and maintaining their caches.

I dont know. During our hike I went for this one, took me already 30 min to get even close but even with the spoiler picture I had no luck. I am sure it is somewhere but was searching for over 30 min and gave up totally exhausted.

The spoiler photo really helped us locate the cache as our GPS had us about 12m away. The cache is in good condition. Thanks for placing it here.
Went out to the gorges today to do the butterfly gorge and some of the lookouts. Had a fantastic day walking and enjoying this beautiful part of the world. Thanks for putting a cache out here to make it that little more entertaining. TFTC
First one of my big 22km hike
A road trip with my younger brother that I haven`` t seen for the last 6 years. Made me to do this trip. Between Yulara and Darwin we found lots of Geocache` s. It was an awesome trip that I will never forget. We have visited so many beautiful places and seen so much, love this place. Thanks for having me Australia, I certainly enjoy all the views and hidden treasures.

Phew tough hiking around these parts. We've been hiking all the trails in the area. Stunning rugged views. Found whilst on the 2017 #gnomehome adventure around the Australian continent. thanks for the cache and thanks for bringing us here. ️
Despite the heat today (30+° in the shade), we went for a decent walk in this beautiful NP.
Unfortunately we had 3 DNF and only 1 found.
Luckily, the one we found had the most amazing view and it we close to sunset.

No luck today spent quite a time looking in the heat of the day on the way back from Butterfly Gorge. Kept reading the description about photo but my GPS doesn't have photos to give the hints. On reaching my laptop, I was in the correct area but there were to many possible locations. Not sure that will back in the area again so might not find this one.
Today we ventured to Nitmiluk National Park to complete most of these caches in the area. An early start and off we went, taking 7 hours to complete. We continued on from the Southern Rockhole Cache where the terrain deteriorated and took longer than we thought, but finally reached this cache all out of puff on a hot summers day fo us Tassies.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

This was a hard one! The GPS was not very helpful and there were hundreds of places where the box could be hidden. We spent quite some time moving stones till we found it.

walking along the gorge with Katherine scouts whilst running a bushwalking course. this is my first walk in this beautiful piece of national park. we were doing the hole from the visitor centre out to Dunlop swamp. it was a hot start and humid but eventually the moisture left and we were left with the heat. some awesome rock formations and the trek to the GZ provided some good views. TFTC
TFTC, TNLN. I thought this one would be easy but was a little challenging. But a fun cache to find. S & D again thanks.
This was another find in Northern Territory while crossing Northern Territory and Western Australia from Darwin to Perth on Gibb River Road through the Kimberlys. During this 8500km journey we've met many nice and friendly people [^], visited countless marvelous places, saw lots of interesting local wildlife (and plants), took some 2500 pictures home and logged some 300 Caches .
This was a nice and fair hide [^]. We've been quite lucky and found the box almost instantly after we've arrived on the right level .
Thanks for the cache, we've enjoyed it very much [^].

Found it . It was a short climb and I almost wanted to give up because I couldn't find it but the picture helped to get it finally. The cache is in a perfect condition. Thanks for hiding it .
Enjoyed the stroll out to here on a humid wet season day with some overcast cloud cover to make it a bit more bearable. We started at the visitor centre and went to the 2 caches near there and up to the look out there. We then continued on down that loop track to where it intersected the butterfly gorge trail and went off to the cache. Quite a bit of water on the track today with places where the track crossed creeks that we had to hop accross, or became a creek entirely.
Finally made it to the cache and Mrs TiedyeSmileys made the quick find. At this point, Mrs TiedyeSmileys was starting to have the complexion of a tomato so we made the decision not to go on the extra 500m to the next cache .
All up going from the visitor's centre, up to the lookout, down the loop track then out to the cache, straight back down the track to the road and back to the visitor's centre was 12.5 km walk that took us 3 hours and 10 minutes to complete (finding 3 caches along the way). A little bit more distance that we intended to walk but enjoyable non the less.

I'm not really one for virtual walks, so this morning I set off on a real walk to find George
Of course I was well prepared, unlike so many of the bl@@dy tourists that I passed along the way [:o]
Don't they read the warning signs ?
Take water, sturdy shoes, fitness !!
I passed so many potential heat stroke victims today it just wasn't funny [:o]
I even had to resort to telling some old bloke off, whose very unfit, elderly missus was on the point of collapse at the Baruwei Lookout, and he still wanted to drag her around the loop walk.
It is a damn good job that the National Parks provide water along the trails or there would be a rescue a day [:o]
Out near the start of the Flutterby Gorge there were a couple of Eurobeats sitting in the shade of the water tank, obviously in the first stage of heat stroke too !!
My own stroll around the trails was a delightfully relaxed affair
I started later than I would have liked after the drive out from Katherine, and had hoped to clean up all the caches in one day.
But with a 9:30am start on the trail, it was never going to happen !!
I have walked all these trails before, about 15 years ago and since then the rangers seem to have transformed the nice, easy to stroll foot pads into a 4WD track full of loose rocks
That makes the walk a slow, slippery affair for anyone in a hurry.
My thermometer was reading 37 degrees in the sun today and 33 in the shade
The destruction of the walking trails only adds to the difficulty of getting anywhere.
At least the path through Georges Gorge has been left to the foot traffic and is a delight after the 4WD track.
Nice and shady too
The cache seemed to demand a bit of rock hopping up a nearby outcrop.
I gladly accepted the challenge
Hey the views from up here are amazing
And the cache, well it's hiding place was really, really, REALLY obvious to my geologically trained eye
There is no way that little rock can be sitting where it is due to natural forces, so it must hide the cache
Yep !!
TFTC, the views, the stroll [^]
Definitely a fave !!

After an early start and a great hike, the cache was soon in hand. Awesome location and a nice place to just sit and soak in the landscape. Many TFTC!
We did the trek but it was very hot. Had a lovely swim at the Gorge to cool off. TFTC.
Set off at 3 pm after heat of the day and made two scramble/finds plus continued well down the gorge to enjoy the atmosphere. Headed back to get out by sunset. Pretty lumpy underfoot but otherwise a great area. Tftc
I had missed this one on a previous trip but no problem today. Guess my eyes were painted on last time. Took some time to appreciate the view before moving on. A spectacular view. Grabbed a trackable. TFTC TeamGeoPlesk. [1253]

Nice easy find on a great day for a walk, also picked up another cache just a little further down the trail so what a great bonus on top of a really nice walk. Thanks TeamGeoPlesk for the hide. TNLN.
My last days caching in Katherine I decided to spend it doing a 10km walk trying to find the two in Butterfly Gorge. Arrived at the visitors centre at 8am and was back with both caches signed and completed by 10.30am which was great to avoid most of the hot period. A very pleasant walk with next to no other people around which made for a quiet time to enjoy the scenery. TFTC.

We arrived in the heat of the day and the GPS had us way off and bouncing all over the place. This combined with not having seen the phot hint as I didn't have acces to internet before heading out led to a DNF. Do not fear I will find it next time I am in the area. Thanks TeamGeoPlesk.
We set off for this one at 7am. A good move as the walk in the cool of the morning was no problem and most enjoyable. We were with friends from Tassie, Phil and Jan. A short search near gz revealed the cache. Then ofcourse we had another 500m to walk. Thanks for the cache TeamGeoPlesk - we love the area and the challenge of doing the cache. Saw some butterflys as well.
Even saw some butterflies. Great day !! Make sure you walk on down the Gorge to the River for good views . Thanks for bringing us here and TFTC.
This was my first find ever, it was hot and i thought i was going to die! TNLNSL TFTC
I had no intention on going on this walk but was drawn by the promise of the cache. I was a little unprepared--no hat, no water, no sunscreen... but it was early in the day, and a cool dry season morning--plus the folks at the park were kind enough to build water stations along the path. I was so impressed by this walk. I have been to the park a couple of times--but only done the boat tours. This was so much better. The vegetation and landscapes along this path are diverse and beautiful. I highly recommend this walk. TFTC!
Why is it that all of my adventurous cache expeditions tend to happen during the buildup or the wet season???? I think I'm stupid LOL
Set out at about 7:45am with "Slat's" and a mate from work. Quite a relaxing walk with numerous vantage spots for lovely photos We'd actually planned to do this cache a LOOONNNGGG time ago, but thankfully we put it off. I would've been annoyed if we'd done it before "Another 500" was placed HAHA
I managed to leave my Garmin Oregon behind after finding "Another 500" but thankfully we had continued onto Katherine Gorge, so we had to go back that way anyway
Highlight of the walk was our mid point at Katherine Gorge where we discovered Turtles, Archer Fish, Catfish and a HUGE Barramundi.........that all enjoyed consuming the choc chip cookies that we threw to them LOL
Upon returning to the carpark 4 hours and 11km later it was discovered that Slat's had left his headlights on. With legs of Jelly we were then forced to push start his 4wd..........Oh the joy!!!
Took Gnome GC in order to move it along, left nothing. TFTC

A good walk to gz in the cooling afternoon. I had studied the photos before leaving home about 2 weeks ago and recalled enough to help find the cache without much trouble. Thanks TeamGeoPlesk.
Found by mrs NTBBBB during a two day caching trip with the entire NTBBBB tribe. Nice long walk in the bush, made even longer due to a wrong turn. An extra 3km added to the trip. All in all the walk made for a nice day and we were all happy to have done it. Some were even happier when we made it back to the car.

Another beautiful dryseason day but it took us a fair bit longer than NTSTROM's 90 minutes. A couple of muggles walked past as I scratched around at GZ but they soon lost interest and continued on their way.

Well that was a great walk. Started at 0800 with a nice breeze to keep us cool. Took it slow and easy up the hill for a an easy find in the end. Thanks TGP for placing this cache and making us do a bit more walking. Thanks for the cache and the hunt.

Another top cache by TGP! This one took us exactly 90 minutes from the time we left the car till the time we got back. A rather arduous walk at times, but wonderful scenery abounded which was even better at GZ. Luckily for us it was a nice cool dry season overcast day which made it easier than normal.
Upon arrival at GZ the cache was found within seconds. Thanks TGP and this is one cache that I have wanted to do for a long time!

Back in Canberra we have the Namadgi National Park with heaps of caches hidden out there. I've managed to collect a few of them, so during my 2 week stay in Katherine I certainly wanted to find a couple out here in Nitmiluk.
Set of for this one just on 8.00am, hoping to be back by 10.00. The walk in was good and the views and the landscape along the way were excellent. Arrived at the junction just before 8.45, had a 5 minute sit and rest before the final 160 odd metre push.
Found the general GZ area and had the cache in hand very shortly afterwards. Always appreciate an easy find after the effort to get to it. So thanks for that.
Sat and enjoyed the views and took photo's after signing the log and then swapped the coin and TB for 2 other coins and my pathtag.
The walk back was completed in about 50 minutes and I arrived back at my car in 2 hour 10. A great little walk with a cache included, always good fun.
Many thanks for the cache, and as stated, took the coin and TB and left 2 coins and pathtag.
Other NT cachers should now head out there and not let the 2 coins stay too long.............it's a good walk, just be prepared.
Will posted some photo's when I get home in a couple of weeks.
Cheers,

I new it was going to be a big day out and it was. Our second visit to butterfly gorge, first time in the dry and there were butterflies there this time. A bit of research with google earth and the very helpful photograps meant I did not have to use the GPS and got a FTF to boot. Took geocoin, left travel slug and travel bug. Thanks TGP for bringing us back to this beautiful spot.
Looks like a fun cache, but its a bit too far for me to make a FTF. TopGear Mn USA
