The pines are gone but there's no point pining for the trees of your youth - there's always another one to climb!
Out for some more caching fun around Cleve this morning along with ilook4geo. We had a good run and enjoyed the country roads as well as the town hides. This was an easy cache to find and all was done to keep the paperwork in order. Thank you to Trigg-A-nomigs for placing this cache which we were happy to find and be able to claim the smiley.
We accessed this one with our ladder - no problem.
Not to CO. If people claim a find and have not signed the log, then they did dot find it and such "Found It" logs should be deleted.

Went out hunting for more caching treasure today with goingplaces2 while staying in Cleve. Had a good day and enjoyed most of the finds. Name was added to each log and all was replaced as found. Nothing like a high class cache. TFTC.
We found it.. but could not sign the log.
This cache is way to high up.

This is not accessible to the “lay man”. Even with a ladder .... maybe a better placement? However did thoroughly love the cache idea!

Today davidwazza and I made our way from Whyalla to Port Lincoln as part of a weekend away to clean up as much as we could. Today was filled with some good and bad times, plus a few car issues along the way but all in all a great day out and 105 caches found in total.
Thanks for the cache

This weekend, I joined gridge98 on a trip to Eyre Peninsula, primarily visiting Port Lincoln and its surroundings. We saw its famous marina full of trawlers, and we also ended up visiting Coffin Bay and enjoyed fresh oysters. A nice weekend with weather, and certainly a great vicinity to see.
Today leaving Whyalla, we headed down the Lincoln Highway, passing through Cowell, Cleve, Arno Bay, Port Neill, and Tumby Bay. Just prior to lunch, we also completed the *Cleve Cleaver* geoart trail. A rather long day of geocaching numbers, but the inland and coastal towns were enjoyable to visit, along with the various picturesque beaches along the way.
We ran into a local Geocacher in the centre of town, who mentioned that this cache may be missing, since they cut down the trees around here. Sure enough, we had GZ right where a few stumps remained, and so likely gone. In continuing to keep this cache alive, we unpacked the appropriate TOTT, and placed a new container at the required terrain rating height. The cache is now in the nearest tree to GZ, but updated coordinates at S 33° 42.347' E 136° 29.656'. Thanks Trigg-A-Nomics for the cache placement.

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.
Currently in Cleve, camped out by the weir. Weather today is not very nice, cold and bleak, and it is Sunday, so Cleve is closed! What else is there to do? Go caching again of course.
Not about to risk life and limb today, besides we do not have a 7 yo in our team, nor a ladder on the geomobile. Thanks anyway Trigg-A-Nomics for your placement

i came, i put the ladder against the tree, i climbed. I couldn't find a cache either. I also couldn't find it on the ground. I reclimbed the tree. I cable tied a screw top container ( freddo type ) painted black to the branch, road side. It may not be high enough for the co but their is a cache to be found plus i didn't feel like climbing to the top again straight away.
Day 2. heading in the direction of Port Lincoln for some 4 x 4 caches in the national parks and the kayak caches down there. Also targeting letterbox and earth caches on route plus the odd multi. Staying in Cleve for the night. The tent is up and caching around before dinner.

I visited GZ with gridge98 today on our way to Port Lincoln from Adelaide, via Cleve. We were keen to find this one, but couldn't spot it from the ground. gridge98 made the climb well up into the tree to search for the cache, but couldn't spot it anywhere. In the end we had to give up. We wondered if it is still there, particularly after reading the last found log.
Visiting Cleve with AAT teaching a course and thought we’d do a few caches while we were here.
Nearly gave up because sat lock was bad and didn’t feel like climbing, but then spotted the cache on the ground
We replaced it, but not anything like as high as it should be, I suspect

We came, we looked, we got ladder out, we scaled ladder, we changed our mind on went back down the ladder, we should have been here for the June long weekend and someone else would have gotten it for us
Found it after the more brave members of the team scaled it.
Found it 3 feet from the top. The climb wasn't too hard, just be brave and don't look down.

Went for a walk whilst the washing was in the dryer at the Laundromat, no luck for me - I am a shortie!
I dont do trees, and neither does Kev. We came, we saw, we stood contemplating chainsaws and ladders for a while but in the end these two old blokes weren't game.
Thank 'eavens for cache notes
Which I read this time before heading into GZ
No Way Hose !!
Maybe if I get desperate to clear this cache symbol of me map one day, I might revisit to see if this cache is even possible for a 50 year old to get his paws on

A very late log for this cache after we realised that it was never logged while attending the JLW event years ago. Even so, Pa Kettle could remember the name of this cache and the fun the then teenagers had climbing the tree!
Was over at Cleve for the Creepy Cleve Caching JLWE Event and grabbed some caches along the way, in the area and on the way home.
Thanks to all the cache hiders. TFTC.
The geo-daughter offered to make the climb.

What an awesome weekend! JLWE at Cleve
Dennisc52 was kind enough to allow me to travel with him and throughout the weekend, I found 54 caches and attended 4 events
Today was game cache placement day and Dennisc52, RideTheGeoWalrus and I (minus SEMIK who was still en route) headed out caching while placing our team's 6 game caches.
Stopped here for a flashmob and found a cache too
Now who was that nice, mystery Irishman[?]
Whoever he was, grateful thanks for his tree climbing abilities as this mass log signing was made possible by TheKellyGang's Hilux and that Irishman [^]

It is that time of the year again.
The June long weekend is on and Mr Parrot and a young einstein have teamed up to play as Pirate Parrots this year.
So here we are running around near Cleve this long weekend.

Out and about in Cleve for the awesome JLWE 2014 with my event team locus cache, Dennisc52 and SEMIK looking for suitable hiding spots for our game pieces, and picking up a few caches along the way...
'Found' while arriving for the flashmob event only to find someone up a tree and a small army below furiously signing away! Special thanks to the climber who risked life and limb for the rest of us!
This was find number 10 of 20 for the afternoon for me. TFTC Trigg-A-Nomics!

take 2. "found" at the flash mob. thankfully a brave soul retrieved the cache for us all.
We can finally log that we have signed the log. I climbed the tree three or four months ago (have video proof of the climb ) but could not spot the cache. We were able to sign during the JLWE event. A very challenging cache, Thanks.
In Cleve for the June Long Weekend Event with Aussie M&M and mogni forming the caching crew of BAM. Saturday was hide our caches day. And of course pick up a few caches as we transverse the playing field.
We came earlier. I climbed. I kept losing my daks. Although daylight, there was a full moon on the rise. About 3/4 way up to where they suggested it was. Looks like a nest. Looks like it isn't a cache and looking even higher I could see the prize. I then could see the diameter of the branches and lost my bottle with my daks so down I came. Returning after talking with Marty who's weight it had held I was confident I could do it this time. But alas some muggle who moonlights as a squirrel ascended in about one tenth of the time it had taken me. A flashmob had formed and like a sheep I added me name to the log so scamper of so I could walk like and Egyptian. A dead Egyptian. Thanks Trigg-A-Nomics. Didn't see my house!

Non horsey, girly get away weekends don't happen often enough! Having a great time at the Cleve creepy caching jlwe event. Thanks for the cache! !! Thanks heaps to the nimble climber that enabled heaps of us to get this one finally!
JLWE creepy cleve caching event. Thanks for the cache. Having a great weekend. Third attempt at this since 2010 finally good to get some help from a great mob of people.
Found it. Thanks to one of our local ppl cant name him. Doing the climb for the Flash Mob 2014 June Long Weekend
Most scariest climb oh! With the help of no ladder but Geolux below maybe a net would have been better to soften a fall if it happened but all good. A local came and assisted with this one. TFTC

We chose to do this one after our nearby event and not be a part of greater group who watched a muggle do it instead. I had to remind Huurtle he wasn't on duty trying to rescue a baby kitten and to get down ASAP - he eventually made it back to ground level with just a few scratches. Stamped the log book as Huurtling Posties - Really enjoyed this one TFTC
Day 1 for the BAM team at the June Long Weekend Event.
The BAM team (brisal5, Aussie M&M, and mogni) arrived overnight, and after a restless night were ready to tackle the JLW Event. Today was the day of working up a strategy by studying the playing field and placing our cache installations. We also managed to fit in some caching.
We had attempted this one earlier in the day, but aborted as brisal5 lost his trousers, and also his nerve. We decided that we would wait until later for the flash mob as we felt sure someone would do the collect on behalf of the maddening crowd. In the end it was funny to see a local do the climb after seeing some aborted attempts.
TFTC Trigg-A-Nomics. A very entertaining cache.

Found while attending the Cleve JLWE with Locus Cache and RideTheGeoWalrus.Nice hide. This was number 9 for the day. Was attending the nearby Flash Mob event when a muggle kindly climbed the tree to retrieve this cache for a bunch of us. TFTC.
Searched for this one earlier in the day, but rain and info that it was up the tree, made us abort the search. Luckily I was able to log find when we returned for the Flash Mob. TFTC.
One of many fun caches found over the June Long Weekend. did this one first thing in the morning while I still had some strenght in the arms!
View was quite good
A great time was had to, from and around Cleve on the Eyre peninsular.

Thankyou..... We were out at the flash mob for the Cleve Caching Weekend.... We got a local that was around cleve to scale the tree and throw it down we took it back up with the rope
Found with DeltaDucks and another cacher from Adelaide. Love climbing trees also!! TFTC
Found It!
Originally I was going to do this at the Flash mob event but then I saw DeltaDucks wandering around the base of the tree on my way into town so I stopped to see how they were going. One thing lead to another and I was soon up the tree with the cache in hand. Then I dropped a swap, oh well that's gone now - lucky I didn't drop the logbook or the cache lid!

Travelled to the area to participate in the June Long Weekend Event. After setting up the camper, there was still some time to grab a few of the local caches. Tried to see this one from the bottom before deciding yay or nay. L/Legends rocked up and as he put it, one thing led to another and it saw our name placed on the log. TFTC.
Day 10 of our Oz Mega 2014 Event trip. We have been clocking up lots of kilometres and lots of caches (not able to log them until I get home, and can see it is going to be a mammoth job when I do get around to it - oh well, the price of having so much fun now!!)
We cached all day, up through Port August, over to Iron Knob, almost back into Whyalla, then down to Cowell before running out of daylight. Now here we are, again caching into the night, using our torches to locate the caches. So this is another area I will have to return to to see what it looks like in daylight.
Narrowed it down to one or two trees, but no way was I gonna climb up there in the dark. Maybe another time... Thanks anyway Trigg-A-Nomics

Mr McKee Clan always enjoys a great climb with the kids. But the kids decided the playground was the only thing they wanted to climb.
One of the clips on the systema have perished. Left some blood. Thanks for the challenge. Mr McKee thinks it should have another terrain star. The lower branches have been cut off.

Performed the now customary annual check of the cache. Gashed my finger on the first branch and bled all the way up and down. I found ozziescrusty's amusing log and admired the well constructed nest a few branches below the cache.
I'd forgotten that the cache could be unhooked from its mooring so I almost fell out while trying to stop the cache contents from falling out - don't make the same mistake!
Although I did climb this tree as a seven year old I realised this time that it is now 25 years taller!! Updated the cache hints and listing to match the passage of time.

What a great cache..... I think?
Think we located GZ but the law of 7 beat me, ie
1 if you are older than 7, you are an idiot
2 an age of 7 x 7 plus some, is not the same as 7 years old
3 climbing 7 metres up is apparently not quite enough
4 looking down 7 times does not encourage you to climb further
5 Just because 7 other cachers have climbed this tree doesn't mean that you can
6 size 7 shoes do not always have the best grip
7 it takes 7 minutes to log a DNF on interesting caches
Thanks for the challenge and fun, even if I didn't earn smilie

finally found this one after Mr Trigg-A-Nomics climbed the damn tree to do some cache maintenence. Stood at the base of the tree on watch to see if the hawks got him on the way up.

Mum thought a couple of local lads might have muggled this cache so it I thought I'd check it out. The cache was safe and sound and is now guarded by a couple of hawks; beware!
Answer to Freddo's question. The one with the cache is the best one to climb. H10 was amazed at my agility. "WOW, you must have climbed a lot when you were little Dad". Not much of an effort for this 40 something body. Still in reasonable shape and haven't forgotten the ropes yet. Hope I can still do this sort of thing when I'm 60. Don't think much of the pine sap but.
