After an appointment at Gawler this morning and finding a cache on the way home from there, Brodie and I had to go into the city to get a copy of a vital piece of paperwork to allow for a National Police Check to be done, again Wink
As I'm just now realising how much I am going to miss while I'm interstate and how many caches I've been saying 'one day I'll get there' I had to stop while Brodie and I enjoyed a lovely wander into GZ to try and find this multi cache. Cool

DNF! Sad Sadly our efforts were in vain and either I'm just cache blind or the recent high water levels have taken the cache away.
I'll be back, either before I go to Vic for 6 months or at some time when I return [^] Probably didn't help though that the very first place I looked had a tail about 6 inches long disappearing into it SurprisedTwisted

One of these little yellow symbols is quite close to our home and appears on screen quite regularly. So we thought it was time to bite the bullet and learn about Engineering a city.

Both Brad's father and son are engineers and he could have so easily chosen that career path as well.
It seemed reasonable to get the information for all four of the multis at the same time so a path was chosen and a couple of days were spent wandering around places that I thought I knew to gather information.

I lost track of the number of times I thought I didn't know that!

Eventually I got 4 sets of coordinates and headed out to find some caches.

This was the third located and took about 10 minutes to finally spot.
Data gathered for number 5.

Checked on this one today and confirmed that the info boards near the Hackney Hotel still contain the required clues.

The fourth and last multi is finally in the book.
Again all the hints were collected over about 4 brief visits whilst traversing North Adelaide.

The only visual clue that I couldn’t find was at the Hackney Hotel where the plaque seems to be missing (see photo).

A bit of on-line research (which was tougher than expected) yielded a likely number and some very likely coordinates were constructed.

Unfortunately GZ is frequented by heaps of people which stopped me from being able to do a thorough search. So I went home empty handed after the first visit. A previous finder (thank you bgmat) was consulted and armed with a better idea as to where to look a second search was conducted. This time with success!

All that remains now is to find the final.
Thank you TaN for a great series!

Veni. Vidi. Vici. Scripsi. Started this series early in the new year because as an engineer I thought it was time to learn a bit about the engineering of this great cit of ours. Spent many lunchtimes wandering around town gathering the required data. Finally had all the data then 1 by 1 doing the calculus to get the various GZs and checking them. Then in to make the finds. Now it was time to make the final find. Wandered to GZ and didn't need to examine many forks as I could see the cache as i made the initial survey of GZ. Retrieved the cache and signed the log and replaced it in a more hidden location at GZ. Finished the series and learnt a lot. Now for the final. Gratias pro cache.

03-Nov-15
Info collected bit by bit - now finally assembled and had a destination for gz.
Many forks were inspected, the last one being successful.
A lizardy cache guardian kept a close eye on me as I signed the log and replaced carefully.
Somewhere, a duck was probably watching too.

Having already completed #s 1,2,3 I was ready for this cache to have another unorthodox and challenging GZ (particularly having read the log of RtGW!). Luckily for me, it was the other way around - mis-added my total first time around, but I put my paw on the cache almost immediately once I arrived at GZ. Very satisfying! Now on to working out #5

Gotcha!

On a bleak and windy Easter Monday, T_M and 3/4Z hatched a plan to engineer their way around this fair city. We counted words, hitching posts, vents, acres, and non-existent bridge arches. And pretty soon an pretty set of numbers was calculated. A little scrambling at first, but it was not long before Tiger had his eagle eye on this one.

Oh all right, boys. Now we can go get some lunch.

Thanks Trigg-A-Nomics

We can make countless numbers of jokes about engineers but if there is one thing they know how to do, it is engineer stuff. Bridges, buildings........stuff. 3Zimmers and a Tiger did their homework, mainly counting. This lead to some maths which made some co-ordinates which leads us to a cache. A cache neatly tucked away right where the hint said it would be.

Today I set myself the task of collecting all in this series while riding around the CBD on a treadly, and sadly I failed as I only managed to grab the first three. I guess a trifecta isn't too bad.

Collected all the information without issue, but finding this one was a nightmare. Easily spent more time on this one that the other two combined. Of course, once I placed hands on it I realised I had made things far harder than I needed to. I should have just followed the little red arrow in the first place. A worthy favourite from me on this one.

After doing one of the series last time we lived in Adelaide, we thought it would be a nice day today to go for a bike ride today collecting the clues for this one. The Bench Mark was very interesting, would have had no idea what that would have been about in not for caching. As we pulled up near GZ on our bikes, a passing muggle saw us looking at our GPSrs and asked if there was a geocache here. We said yes and he said he would have to have a look on his way back. No idea who he was but he would have trouble finding the cache as there are so many places to hide around there and we had stopped a little bit away from GZ.
Mr TiedyeSmileys remembered reading a log by Dr Owl mentioning having to come back again with different shoes on and laughed when he saw it was really only a couple of steps away. Still amused, he took a couple of steps toward the cache and piece of bark concealed in the grass rolled under his foot and he went down (and thought he was about to be VERY wet). Luckily he stopped himself in time.
Actually, we probably should have read the logs a bit better as we didn't realise it had been so long between finds and we had placed 2 TBs in there, one of which is in a race we think, whoops Red Face.

Owl has been enjoying exploring the city, but keeps forgetting to actually find the caches! She had a go at this one a while ago, but declined to proceed on wet grass in her business shoes. Today she came prepared with sandshoes and the grass has died down a tad, but it still took a little searching before she had success. Two down, two to go and she’s forgotten yet again to get the clue!

Our GPS had us way off then suddenly corrected itself for us to grab the cache! Looking forward to the rest of this series.

My second go at this. The numbers I got didn't quite "add up", so needed to use some "logic" and came up with a feasible result. A nice surprise when found the cache at the worked out GZ. Thanks for the nice tour around Nth Adelaide Trigg-A-Nomics.

Follow the GPS and it will take you to the cache. That's what we did, and this time it took us to the right spot. Didn't even search here last time. A few meters makes all the difference!

Found whilst out for a walk on the Geopotters unite multi.

This one did prove to be a bit tricky, and I could feel a DNF coming on. It ended up being at the first location I searched, and then after moving on, I returned, thought the hint through a bit better, and found it safe and sound.

We've been slowly grabbing the clues to all of this series over the last three or four weeks, and finally had enough info to log #1 and #2. We enjoyed the tour of Adelaide, stopping at the various locations and finding all clues without difficulty.

Thanks Trigg-A-Nomics.

Our last engineering series for the day, and it all went well until we got to the final GZ. Searched and searched and searched, but couldn't come up with the goods.

Another enjoyable one in the series though, and we shall return, maybe when it is slightly dryer as it might be easier to trudge around then!

Nice day for some lunchtime caching with my girl.
Actually started this last year, then found notes recently when moving castles. Couldnt find em when I looked for them! Finished last wp today but needed to paf at gz! Of course cache was in one of the spots we had already looked at!
A great series with an equally nice gz here!

Out for a lunchtime ride with ncnote21 and monagg. A nice ride around North Adelaide collecting numbers. I really liked the benchmark - never noticed that there before.

We spent a little while at GZ as our GPSr were a few meters out in the other direction, but common sense finally prevailed.

Signed the log. Thanks for the cache Trigg-A-Nomics.

This made a nice lunchtime ride through North Adelaide. Found all the clues without much incident, but the GZ is having some vegetation management around it, so the container may be susceptible to damage. Definitely worth keeping an eye out over the near future.

Thanks for the Adelaide history lessons, it was fun.

The sun was shining so it was a nice walk from work to the cache and back.

Got back to work at exactly 60 minutes after departure.

I had tried to find this one once before but it was raining and I only had the phone. I didn't perservere too much in the rain and just to show how stubborn I am I returned to the exact spot where I didn't find it last time. And why didn''t I find it last time. Because it's not there.

It's over there,stoopid!

That's all the preliminary work done, so it's time to sort out the final.

With exams out of the way I thought it was high time the engineering student got out and completed these caches. Only got through one so far, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Left a Frog TB, as I've been told all engineers need a frog (no idea why)
Thanks

Found after an lecture on electrical engineering and before a lecture on computer engineering!
Had all but one piece of information a week ago - just had to wait for womadelaide to finish to get the last bit...
One down... Four to go... (just need to go to the convention center and I will have another one...)

A chance meeting with an amphibian led to the discovery of the cache within a few metres of where I walk almost every day! And, yet again I sign the logbook right alongside the other feathered one. It's uncanny how often that happens! Thanks for the cache Trigg-A-Nomics.

2 visits ago I stayed in North Adelaide and started this one. This afternoon I finished work early and made it my goal
to finish this my third in the series.
I must have made a mistake in my calculations as the final location was not promising.
A quick call soon put me right and the hide was soon found in between muggles.
Great series, just 1 to go.
Thanks

Engineered a day off with Sandy (well it was our anniversary), and she needed to visit the dentist to check the dentist's engineering skills with crowns. While there I took a quick journey to GZ having visited the waypoints last year, but never engineering myself time to call past.
Enjoyed the journey and found yet another spot I'd taken a GPSr reading at a few years ago. A very pleasant area. Took a little bit of hunting around as I was slightly West of GZ. Finally headed East for one last look (having found some spots that would hide a cache quite well) whilst in a rush to get back before the meter expired and to not keep the wife waiting on our anniversary and I finally spotted itSmile. A quick log, noting of the clue and avoidance of muggles before a quick run back to the SA engineered machinery with some cooling engineering.
Thanks for the journey around North Adelaide and I'm rather surprised I'm only the 10th visitor to this well engineered multi.

This find has been a long time in the making. I grabbed the brochure from the Tourist Info both in the city not long after the cache was listed (I had to ask them for it - they were low in stock for some reason?). Going on a lunchtime walk from work I grabbed the first few way points; it then took about a month to head out and find the others (as I was not finding myself in the city as often as usual). To make matters worse I got some of the way points wrong and had to use creative mathematics to finally determine GZ. Another couple of months; Christmas, holidays, finally back in town and able to complete #1 (I've also collected most of #2 and #3 along the way).

A pretty easy find this afternoon, it felt like there was no-one in Adelaide today, maybe they are all getting ready for the Fringe Festival or something like that. I signed the log and returned the cache, about halfway back to town I realised I will be back there again as I forgot to grab the clue (doh!).

This has been a fun and educational series that is also good for me (with all the walking I have been doing). Thanks Trigg-A-Nomics, a true Adelaide classic! .. Now on to complete the others!

A beautiful walk through part of the city we know quite well but have not visited for a couple of years. It was interesting to note the changes - we also got to watch some of the bike race. Nice work. Thanks Trigg-A-Nomics MEng(GC)

My last in the series - and what a series. A great tour of the town and this walk along was no different to the rest. Dare I say a well engineered cache. Clear skies from TeamAstro.

I've been waiting for an opportunity to do this series, and today was finally the day (although we only had time for 2 parts).
We drove between most waypoints, but it was still a great tour of parts of the city you don't normally visit, and an interesting history lesson.
Thanks Trigg-A-Nomics...fantastic job and I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series.

Well all the waypoints collected and a GZ calculated.
However the sorry tale I have is that the Engineering A City booklet runs red when it gets wet. Unfortunately it was in my work backpack and my waterbottle leaked Red Face and everything has now been turned redTwisted. Worse thing was having my phone and GPSr in the backpack and both enjoyed a swim. The GPSr is well engineered and designed to cope with a bit of water, so it is fine. After a few hairy moments and a bit of drying on an oven door the phone seems to have survived the bath, although the screen does have a bit of a dappled look at times. Don't think I can get the red out of my pants, nor the carpet under the desk.
However, the journey must continue ....
CheersCool

Daylight savings is great. There's enough sunlight on the way home to detour via the city, and drive around finding clues... and revisit some places that I'd already found caches near. Still, I learned some new background about these places, and collected enough input data to calculate the final. Had a pleasant walk to GZ, and found the cache after a bit of rummaging around, while avoiding the occasional passing muggle.

TNLN - Thanks Trigg-A-Nomics!

Well, after looking for skewbacks on the wrong bridge, then fooling myself with science, (not very hard to do), I found it today.
Now on to the next of what is a very interesting series.

We drove around and collected the clues for this one last weekend, but only just got around to making the journey to GZ. Another nice spot and a bonus, a pathtag in the cache that we don't have yet! Took that and added one of our own. Now to nut out the final. Cheers for another fine cache in what is turning out to be one of the most enjoyable, well thought out and well executed series of multis we've done in quite some time.

Our introduction to night caching; or twilight caching anyway!
Have been meaning to do these walks for some time and this series of caches gives us an extra reason to do them.
Collected the numbers this afternoon, came home and did the sums (several times) and the OziExplorer plot looked good so off we went as the sun was sinking in the west. And YES!

Thanks sincerelyTrigg-A-Nomics for this cache. We are looking forward to doing the rest soon.

Arriving home I had tea and sat down for some contemplation. A check of the interwebs found that this cache was still unfound. And I know most of the locations, either for caches or locationless finds.

Collected the clues, all of them this time, and did the maths. GZ looked good. Headed there and looked, and looked, and looked, and looked, and looked, and looked, and looked, and looked, and looked, and looked, and looked.

Walked back to the car, collecting a clue for another cache and redid the maths. What do you know, with all of the numbers I got the final wrong by 0.010. Damn!! Walked back to GZ and quickly found the virgin cache.

Woohoo. Third virgin in the series and second today. The mojo is cooking.

I do love those benchmarks. So cool. Thanks for the fun. Well done.
