Came all this way way just for this cache, loves being part of geocaching history
Great place to find a 1st. The views are amazing and it's fabulous to find this in great condition after all this time. Thanks for maintaining this cache for our enjoyment and fun.Favourite point awarded
Today we had special caches on our agenda. We were able to see and learn a lot about the area through some "old" caches and also through very interesting earth caches. The landscape is simply amazing and cockatoos accompany us on our trips and hikes. Victoria's First with a fantastic view. We are so happy about the cache from Okt 2000.We would like to give the owner a favorite point for preserving and caring for the cache. Many thanks and greetings from the Moorhelmi
Out for another day of adventures with carmlee1, we decided to venture a bit further to score a milestone with a brilliant cache....and what better than the oldest, so ot is officially my 1000th find and totally worth the honour
A day out with doddlingalong hunting cache around the Wandong and decided to trip out to score this special cache and a milestone for doddlingalong. What a way to end the day. TFTC
I had decided to come over some time ago, and the intention was to collect this and Fortes Ground. Sadly that's out of action (good excuse to come back though, isn't it) due to being required Jasmer months that aren't available in NZ. I pulled up and wasn't sure what to expect, but there was a nice gate which made getting to GZ quite simple. And not long after I quickly had it in hand.. Nice views, shame about the original visit, but a bit of geocaching history so I'm thankful for that part. Obviously a +FP! TFTC George, the cache was found in good order . Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. Find #4956
What beautiful view and what a way to bring up my 500th find with Victoria's first hide TFTC
Woot Woot !! .. Do the HAPPY DANCE Hoo Rah. Milestone "500" for me & what a stunning view !! Totally blown away with the AMAZING views !! .. Came close to doing a "bum slide' over the edge, but my saviours Bundoorian & Grubb62 managed to prevent that from happening. (PHEW !) .. SL, TFTC !!
On this trip we have done Tassies oldest and now Victorias oldest. Easy find. Reattached the ammo box lid.FP from me.
Sensational views from here. On the way home from a journey through Tassie, we couldn't help but stop here and get Victoria's first cache!
I'm currently on a business trip and in Australia for the first time. Of course, I couldn't pass up the chance to find a geocache from the year 2000. TFTC!
Out and about with TanSaf, returning home after The Victorian Cache Crawl. It was an opportune time to find this significant cache and sign the logbook. Its been on the radar for a long time. Thanks George71 for placing the cache and for everyone who has looked after it over the years a favourite point given
This very special cache was our last find for the weekend after attending The Great Victorian Cache Crawl. A detour on the way back to Melbourne was taken. The views from the road in were spectacular but as the driver my eyes were closely focused on the road. Once parked I could appreciate. The cache was quickly located by Skylizard and our names added to the log. Amazing to think of it as Victorias first cache. TFTC. A favourite from me.
A spectacular cache location. Thanks to the landowner for allowing this one to be here.Tftc Found with ratys67
Visiting Melbourne for a couple of days and decided to come a find this old cache. Nice drive to the location and great to find this beauty. Tftc
Out and about , hoping to claim a few smilies in the area. Happy to say that I came up trumps here. All good here. WOW such a bit of Aussie geocaching history Some logs signed as N20 This is my 13911 find Thankyou george71for placing and maintaining this cache for others to find .
Bisoutje and I are on a roadtrip with a campervan between Cairns and Adelaide and have now touched ground at Victoria.During our trip we have already been able to do some good work on the Jasmer challenge but we are not done yet. Today we are on our way between Canberra and Melbourne and decided it was time for a break when we neared this cache . I enjoy finding old caches and especially the Y2K-caches as they are very rare.We left the highway and drove towards GZ. We weren't sure if we wanted to go offroad with our campervan but the path looked solid and we went for it. It was only a short drive towards GZ but we were surprised by the beautiful views around the first corner. We saw a bunch of rabbits and kangaroos hopping around in the valley. I went through the gate and found the ammobox quickly. What a great place for a cache. I wish we had the time to do some more hiking here.Big fav point awarded.TFTC!
Visiting Australia this july and also looking for some caches of course. Had to had this one, old cache. Found the cache at a beautifull view. Thanks for the cache
Yay, we finally found this! And wow, werent we surprised by the most amazing scenery. Just sublime.
Wow, we have waited a very long to time to find this cache! When we were planning our trip from Canberra to Melbourne we decided it was the perfect opportunity to get this find.
It felt great to sign this log as if I were part of history. Also, I had my first experience seeing an echidna in the wild!!!! I've been in Auz for 15 years, too. Great for my mindfulnessFound 9 July 2024
What a magical place for this cache, the views from here are amazing. Thanks for placing this here so long ago.
Finding this cache just completed my Ausmer challenge which I never really thought Id do.I found SAs oldest cache a few days ago so great to be able to get Victorias.A cold rainy/foggy day but still a nice spot.SL TNLN TFTC
After a week of working from home in Melbourne, it was time to drive back to Canberra. My goal for this trip was to find Victoria's/Melbourne's first geocache. It was a cold and foggy morning to be out and about! Most of the traffic was heading back towards Melbourne at the end of the long weekend. There was a pea-soup fog so there was no view at all; I'll have to come back another time to appreciate it! It was quite a steep walk downhill; I walked down further than the cache and stopped to take some video of the mist moving up the hill with the breeze, accompanied by birdsong. I wish that I could share it here. It was such a privilege to find this historic geocache! Even reading this latest log book was a thrill. Sadly, I don't have any fave points left to give it.Having signed the log, I rushed back to the car to warm up again! The thing was that as I drove on towards the Hume Highway, the fog cleared away; it was just sitting in the valley longer than in all the surrounding areas. Thanks for the cache, george71! Love your work.
Staying with friends near by and saw the favourite points in this one so had to come and get it. Was a great view and cool to see the history, as this cache has adapted over its time hiding our here. Tftc Sorry for the late log.
Woohoo! What a stunning view, worth the significant deviation. Only fitting Me&B signed for us as she has been caching 18 years. Thanks for.heloing knock off a Canberra challenge at last!!!
Yesterday during our road-trip we had quite the amazing time, seeing wild koalas and traveling over 500 kilometers across the country. Today we woke up in Warragul and our plan was to get relatively close back to Melbourne, though it wasnt necessarily our destination. I had planned our trip to head a little further north before returning to the big city to visit three stashes which would help us with our Jasmer grid, and we werent really in a rush to make it back to the city. Our day was nonetheless quite busy and ended delightfully in [an STF](https://coord.info/GL1BXAH1P); but more on that later. Our trip was getting quite a bit more exciting as we finally got to the destination. Its been a whole day journey to this special special old stash, and Im so happy we made it here! I parked on the little space which has clearly been used many times before by previous visitors, and soon knew just where to go. I carefully treaded down the hill and made my way to GZ, where I quickly found the big ammo can. What a pleasure! I opened it up; both the ammo can and logbook are in good condition; the view of the kangaroos in the valley is amazing. I opened up the logbook and at 4:30 pm stamped in our nick, making this our 7181st overall find. I added a little personal note like in the good old days, and took photos of all our TBs with this historic oldie. Thank you george71, for placing and maintaining your Victorias 1st (Melbourne's 1st) stash; we were glad to visit it and spice up our Wednesday while down under in ????Australia for our spring break, visiting from slightly-distant ????Myanmar! We snapped a photo and returned the stash as we found it, and appreciate the opportunity for a find and visiting another new location and for being able to fill out another spot in our Jasmer grid. For my own personal statistics; this is the one hundred & fourth of 112 geocaches we visited down under while on spring break, excluding the 56 adventure lab caches we visited and 28 Waymarks visited. Obviously, as a small token of appreciation were leaving a ??FP here.
Finally got this one off my list. Thank you for keeping this cache here so long
Couldnt be in the area without logging this cache. This is now the oldest cache in my drawer ! The view was absolutely gorgeous and even got the chance of see a big herd of kangaroos in the valley. TFTC from
Headed this way on my way to Bendigo so i could grab this old cache. TFTC. and great views.
15:16after two nights in melbourne we are back in nature! as a celebration we chose this really old gem! sudden views surprised us behind the curve, really nice lookout to the valley.found easily, thanks!
We are visiting from Canada and touring SE Australia after attending the GeoBash in Canberra. This was a must find cache for our trip. What a beautiful place. Thanks you for keeping this oldie alive. TFT
What an incredible cache to have logged! Thanks George for getting the ball rolling for Victoria
My daughter and I left Brisbane on Wednesday night, and made it to Canberra after friday after a stop to see her brother in Sydney on Thursday noghtAfter a few days at the Canberra Mega we headed to Melbourne for a family birthday party. After our second night in our accom I was up early while she caught up on sleep and picked up a few early morning caches. We then hit the road with a view to picking up at least one cache in each LGA .Found a safe place to park and was soon at ground zero where the cache was quickly located. Log book signed and back to the car and off on the next challenge.A big thanks to the cache owner for making this cache available to be found.
Didnt feel great feeling like I was entering private property. The gate was helpful. Its a beautiful cache in a beautiful location. Many thanks for all those whove maintained it over the years. It felt nice to be a tiny part of Victorias first cache.
Our Aussie in the UK pal wombat wandering put us onto this one. We got a bit distracted in Melbourne and left later than planned...then hit roadworks, but so glad we stuck to Plan A and travelled up here. The views are stunning - you could be nowhere else in the world but Australia . On approach, another car was already in place...can only be another cacher and sure enough, we were delighted to meet Swiss cachers Hinni&Simo. We had a lovely chat, swapped pathtags and realised we would both be flag carriers at the mega. See you soon!
Day 15 of our roadtrip in Australia. Today will be a lot of driving, to get to Canberra for the Mega. We however split the distance in two days and will spend the afternoon and the night in Rutherglen for some wine tasting. But of course there's another mission - get those two 2000 caches that are located around Melbourne. After a long drive through the Melbourne suburbs to reach M31 we arrived at this oldie. Wow, the views here are amazing! You almost expect to see a watching you. But there were none. Just as we left some geocachers from England arrived. Well, the chances are high, given the proximity of the mega . Thanks and kind regards from Switzerland, Hinni&Simo
During our weeks trip with Bare Foot Guru, Infoferret and Trinity to the Canberra Mega we logged as a combination of "BFG, CF, BIC, BITC" depending on who we were caching with at the time. The trip took us on a flight to Melbourne first, then a drive to Canberra, followed by a drive to Sydney before flying out again. Where possible I will add commentary to each find about the cache. Thanks for all the caches, hides and effort put into hiding and maintaining them. This was our target for the day to knock off another year/month in my grid. Nice that the cache is really big plus, really old and a "slightly" charred. FP awarded.
*** draft log for stats tracking, more later ***GC7A Victorias 1st (Melbourne's 1st)27 March 2024T10:29:37 AEDTTFTC george71Absolutely had to detour on our way from Melbourne to Canberra. Quick find of course, signed the singed logbook! Another Jasmer square down
This cache was on my list because of its age. I love an old cache to add to my statistics and this one is truly an oldie but goodie. It wasn't difficult to find the parking coordinates or to get to the cache although I wasn't so sure about opening the gate. There were no local residents about so I made the find quickly and made the return trip to the car. Woohoo! Another 2000 cache on the books. Thank you for the smiley and the fun!The day:Today I continued my month long journey from the U.S. along the east coast of Australia!! I was leaving Melbourne for my first solo day after spending 2 days with my muggle friend and her husband. I tried to get a bright and early start, but the traffic was a mess. I eventually made my way to each of the caches on my list which is always a bonus! Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but know that I appreciate you.
Out n about with m4yb grabbing some caches. Oh wow! What can one say but wow, such beautiful views s as nd so unexpected for this Ssndgroper! Been nearly 12 years of caching to get here b even with my kids living in Melbourne. Well e we orth a FP for all of those reasons. Btw we are on our way to the Capital GeoBash. Thanks for the hide & ?? george71
Megawat60 and I are on our way to the Capital Geobash. And finally after nearly 11 years of geocaching we have found this iconic cache! So worth the wait, the drive and the short geotrek! So much history, and the superb location! Thanks for the cache sounds a bit trite but heartfelt, as is the FP!
Yep! That's it! The oldest in Melbourne/Victoria! We are on the way to Canberra for the MEGA Easter 2024 via Victoria. We stop for sightseeing and caches. We found this cache and signed the log.Tftc George
Now we are on the way to Canberra and pick up some more caches .Found the cache with TBU1BIKESU Tftc A fav point from me
The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave us a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown us so many new and interesting places as weve chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Today we made our way across from Avoca to Broadford, stopping at anything that caught our eye along the way. These turned out to be all wonderful caches. After setting up camp in Broadford, we took the short drive out to find this old cache. The views along the road were indeed fabulous. Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache and adding to our enjoyment.
We kunnen terugkijken naar 2 mooie weken in Australi!NLBokkie and I are going on holiday to Australia for 4 weeks. We will go to Tasmania for the first week and then travel around on the "mainland" for 3 weeks. Along the way I'll meet my niece, I haven't seen her for 50 years. It will be a holiday full of experiences......Our cache goal is to visit different countries. So we fly back to Dubai and forth via HongKong. We would like to score an FTF in Australia. We do that in Tasmania?? Then the webcam caches in Adelaide and the old caches between Adelaide and Sydney. Then we end up at the Mega in Canberra. A full program which a lot of fun!Unfortunately, after 2 weeks we have to end our trip with an earlier return flight to the Netherlands. My mother passed away and we have to go back. We can look back at 2 beautiful weeks in Australia!
On secondment to Melbourne, Australia, combined with short holidays here and there. Day 48/74, Saturday. How lovely - the whole day just for geocaching. I had two main targets today: To find the oldest cache in Victoria, and to find one cache with a D/T combination that I needed still for March, for a Finnish challenge cache. In addition, I visited - hmm - 100 other geocaches, mainly the Mt. Disappointment Driving Lesson trail caches but some other too. The day was really hot again (well, for a Finn, anyway), but I totally enjoyed. I just LOVE the old geocaches. This one was great too. An awesome location, a great big container in excellent condition. This is one of my absolute favorites during my stay in Australia. A favorite point from me. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Vaasa, Finland! Logged with [GCDroid](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gcdroid).
Hurrah I've found it - Great to fill in another space on my month found chart. Thanks for keeping this old cache going - I walked up to it from 'Valley of 1000 Hills'
This cache was one of those found around or on the leap day February 29th, 2024 before, during or after the Mega event in Adelaide. Many thanks to all those owners who placed caches that Swampy and I found during our trip from Hobart to the Mega and return home again.

Find # 26 800This cache: Of course this cache was on the plan! A cache from 2000!! Who on earth can resist that?None from Norway at least, since we dont have any caches from 2000. The oldest cache was placed in Bergen sometimes in 2001, so 2000-caches is much appreciated! This filled a gap even in my hidden month calendar, so 4 gaps to go...!MAIN LOG WEDNESDAY MARCH 6TH 2024If there anything spesific to write about the cache, it will come above here..AUSTRALIA TOUR - DAY 8eterg and me - stensbye - are visiting all the way from Norway, first of all to attend the Mega-event in Adelaide on Leap day!Wich we did!We also attended several other events, and found some old caches, some virtuals, webcams, earthcaches, Labs, and whatever that came in our way, if we had the time.We met a lot of warm, welcoming people, who came to us to speak, giving us alot of tips, and help! This Mega-event in Adelaide, and the surrounding events, more Geocachers has come to speak to me/uson these few events, than all other events together! Almost 300 so far!Not counting excisting geocaching-friends that is!So cudos to all participants and co/eo! Well done!!That is now history, and today was time to make new history!Theres a lot of old caches here in Australia, so i picked those who filled the holes in etergs hidden month/Jasmer-calendar,wich i think and hope shes happy about!Today we left Melbourne, and got two Wagga Wagga, but first we visited Melbournes/Victorias first cache, before we went towards the Webcam "Spirit of the Skier", but in between we had a stop in Mansfield for a LAB, Virtual, and LAB bonus, and a multi just outside. Then we drove to Wagga Wagga, where i had booked two rooms. And here we are! Tomorrow were heading for Canberra, and finally Sydney.Maybe we have time for a CITO just outside Canberra. Not sure yet.So much to do, so little time.If youre cache is receiving this log, that means we visited it, found it,signed it - unless if it was a Virtual or Earthcache of course - as TA = Team Avensis, wich was eterg and me, and replaced it!Thank you all for all the caches!Greetings from Norway!TA = Team Avensis = eterg and stensbye################################################################# https://coord.info/GC9P5N1 10. As a once in a lifetime holiday, this year we are traveling for 7 weeks to Vietnam, Bali, Australia and New Zealand. In Australia we meet Ellen Sch and MrVon sr and Ingsve to visit these last two countries, so here we cache together. We signed the log with N4. Now we have solved many caches so we have a large number of solved coordinates. But we are interested in all types of caches, so if you receive a log, it means that we have visited your cache. We haven't quite decided where we're going, but we'll probably let the weather decide for us. We want warmth because in Norway it is now freezing. We will stay for about 2 weeks in Australia and 2 weeks in New Zealand and we will end the trip with the Mega event in Adeleide on 29 February. So thank you very much to all of you who make it possible for us to travel around finding caches. On March 6, we set course for Norway again. There are extremely nice people everywhere and we are welcomed, we thank you very much. Thanks to our cache friends for good company on the trip. I have traveled with 37 geocachers to Australia and New Zealand resulting in lots of opportunities for sightseeing and geocaching. The Teammembers are:gc, AndyausDu, AmoebeST, B@cker-1, Biggidag, Brummelbren, CacherReisen,CacheTaucher, cooljo, Fotopinguin, Freizeit-Tina, Gazelle5111, GEOKaren, GoanToni, HFo, hupsi-1, karrai *, keeiner, Leilah03, lenny love,Lupus54, Maxipimpf, muschel3, Ollilein, Opaundenkel, penalty96, Rheins,Simowl, sozioma, Sr. Elli, Team Zyanor, viko76, Webmasterrollerin,Whlhase, XenSuo.The logbooks were mostly signed under the teamname "Team DownUnder24" and answers were sent to owners for the group, as appropriate. This cache was also among our finds today. Thanks for leading us here and showing and thanks for the cache.
# 21431Whau, I am on a three week trip with Cacher-Reisen and a bunch of fellow geocachers to Australia and New Zealand. It is so odd to imagine that I am going to visit a place that is nearly on the opposite of the globe from my usual hangouts. In Denmark it is late winter/early spring, and I am exchanging the winter-part for late summer in Australia and early autumn in New Zealand. This is so exciting. The itinerary is Frankfurt (Germany), Doha (Qatar), Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns (Australia) and Auckland, Rotorua, Wellington, Blenheim, Christchurch, Dunedin, Cromwell, Queenstown (New Zealand) before flying back to Europe. That will be two new continents and three new countries for me - and as far away from home as I have ever been. It is a lot of places and travelling, but we also have a plan to find lots of geocaches and see the sights and beautiful nature. For our last day in Melbourne the travel company had rented a bus and we had the opportunity to get a little further away to find some old caches. I have completed my Jasmer (twice), but I always enjoy finding the old caches. They are usually placed at some nice and unique places with beautiful sights and views. That was also the case today with these oldies. This old cache will be my third cache from October 2000 and a big help towards quadruple Jasmer - which I am ultimately hoping for, but it will be a challenge. Now a little step closer. A few from the group could celebrate their first Jasmer with this cache, congrats. We had a fun time here at the cache. A pair of kangaroos nearby, beautiful view, peace and quiet, refreshments to the soul.Tak for cachen til george71.

A group of 38 geocachers from Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg and Switzerland - Team Downunder24 - are traveling for 22 days from Frankfurt/Main via Doha to Australia and New Zealand. So let's go! Our group had chartered a bus that took us close to this beautiful landscape and of course this old treasure. Thanks to George for the cache, luring and caring for it - kind regards from Switzerland ????

On our Downunder Journey, we had the Chance to visit this "historical" cache. After a nice walk we Could find it and sign the logbook.Thank you very much for maintaining this cache over all these years.
Fifth day in Australia ??. This is my first visit to this extraordinary continent and the fulfillment of a long-cherished dream. In the past, it always failed due to the lack of a travel companion. Now I had the chance to join a large group of mainly German geocachers and I was delighted to take it. One of the greatest experiences on our trip is visiting the old caches ??. Although my Jasmer has already been filled twice, it is still something special for me to find such an old container. As a European, I'm a bit apprehensive about driving here, so I was glad that a bus was hired for our group. I would probably have had problems with driving on the left ??. So I wasn't alone at the hideaway, but I got there at all ??. As always with the old ones, the place is a highlight. Beautiful views and an interesting landscape. We also saw kangaroos in the valley, which looked up in amazement at the crowd of people. Of course I wasn't the first to find the box with so many cachers, but it was still a special moment to enter my name in the logbook. Thank you for placing it & looking after it for years .Fnfter Tag in Australien ??.
Danke fr diesen Geocache. Danke fr die Ausarbeitung. Danke frs Zeigen.Lieber Gru aus Duisburg / DeutschlandAndyDieser Logeintrag wird mit Hilfe von Google bersetzt.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________We set off on a long journey with 37 geocachers from Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg and Switzerland. Three weeks to Australia and New Zealand, starting with a stopover in Doha, Qatar. I have never been so long and so far away from home. An exciting time. When geocaching, the focus was on many different cache types, but also special ratings, challenges and especially a few very old caches from the years 2000 and 2001. But also, of course, especially the geocaches that were easily accessible on foot from the hotel.Of course, the focus wasn't just on geocaching; the sights of the individual stations we visited also deserved attention. We entered our team name Downunder 2024 in the logbooks, saving logbook space and efficiently. It was a very special trip in a large team, which was also a lot of fun.Today we went on nice excursions around the Melbourne area.Due to the large number of caches, there is usually only one standard log, for which I would like to apologize to the different owners. Thanks for this geocache. Thanks for the elaboration. Thank you for showing me.Kind regards from Duisburg / GermanyAndy
Together with 36 other geocachers, the KiSt team undertook a very long trip to Australia ???? and New Zealand ???? for three weeks. On both the outward and return journeys, there was a stopover in Doha, the capital of Qatar ????.We experienced a great deal on this trip and gained many very different impressions of the two countries, their nature and their culture. Of course, the main focus was on visiting as many caches of as many different types as possible and also all accessible old cans. However, we also made sure to visit many special places of interest and to gain as comprehensive an impression as possible of nature and its flora and fauna. To save the logbooks, we usually signed in with our team name **Downunder24**. For "special" cans, however, we have not missed the opportunity to leave our nickname as well. This beautiful cache is now also one of our finds.Due to the large number of caches visited, it is unfortunately not possible for us to write an individual log for each can, which is why we would like to apologize to the owners for this collective log.We also met other cachers at some of the events and were able to share our experiences. Many thanks to the event owners!Of course we would like to thank all the owners for showing us the great locations, the sometimes tricky puzzles, exciting multis and wherigos, as well as the interesting virtuals and earth caches - TFTC!!!---In der Besetzung KiSt unternahmen wir zusammen mit 36 weiteren Geocachern fr drei Wochen eine sehr weite Reise nach Australien ???? und Neuseeland ????.

We have traveled with 36 likeminded geocachers to Australia and New Zealand resulting in lots of opportunities for sightseeing and geocaching. The logbooks were mostly signed under the teamname "Team DownUnder24" and answers were sent to owners for the group, as appropriate. This has been a great trip with a multifold of new impressions and experiences.During our stay in Melbourne we had also the opportunity to visit some caches. This cache was one on top of the to do list and therefore also among our finds today; beautuful scenery, FP in.Thanks for leading us here and showing and thanks for the cache.
