Out and about on the unofficial public holiday before Melbourne cup with my son to find some caches. We start at Point Henry and headed towards Clifton Springs finding all the traditional caches North of Portarlington Rd, we managed to find 13 caches for the day and 1 DNF. This was a DNF for me back in 2017 happy to say that I turned this frown upside down today, A very good hide that earns a favorite point from me. TFTC.
Catching up on some drafted caches, Completed this one back during the Geelong Show. Had a spare few hours waiting for it to get dark to start the setup work for the fireworks show.Cache was found in good working condition without any issues, Quite a few people and mozzies about today!.
After a quick msg from the CO, we found it. This cache was one of those found around or on the leap day February 29th, 2024 before, during or after the Mega event in Adelaide. Many thanks to all those owners who placed caches that Swampy and I found during our trip from Hobart to the Mega and return home again.

Many thanks to all those owners who placed caches that VK7HCH and I found during our trip from Hobart to the Mega and return home again. Thanks for the very quick follow up on the DNF log previously. We found it this time
On our way to Portarlington for the weekend, a quick little detour. Took a bit of hunting and had to refer to previous logs before we came up with the goods tftc
Feel like we scoured every inch of this one and still didnt come up with the goods
4 attempts later and finally found this one, didn't bring a pen on this search unfortunately
Papi4506 and I are in Geelong to attend the Christmas events. I love trying to find old caches and those that help me complete challenges so I was pleased that we added this to our list of finds. I thought that it might have taken longer than it did. Thank you for keeping this cache going.
Geoturtle37 and I ventured down to this area for a couple of days so that we could attend the Christmas in Geelong events. As we came down on Friday, we took the opportunity to find some caches and ad labs whilst we were in the area. Knowing that this was a Bushfire original, we were concerned how long it might take but we managed to make quite a quick find. Thank you for keeping this cache going.
That was a tough one! Looking forward to finding another Bushfire cache for our 100th TFTC
Had a fair search, inside and out, up and down but no luck finding this one sadly, owner might need to check up on it
Took awhile to reach the area of the cache, and searched all around the bird hide, in the wood etc.
In the end, nothing was found.
In the end, nothing was found.
It's so sad that the bird hides are left to rot.
Our local hide at Karkarook Park in Moorabbin was the victim of malicious vandalism. Someone burned it to the ground. Although Parks Vic are spending huge amounts of money upgrading the toilets, playgrounds, walking paths and the Dragonfly Lookout, there doesn't seem to be enough money (or commitment) to rebuild the bird hide.
Perhaps a community fundraiser is the answer over there and here as well.
Thank you for placing this geocache all those years ago Laurie and thanks also to Sims_family for keeping it in the game.

Found on a caching run to G town with Posums. Thanks for the fun and adventure! Nice to tick off an oldie! Thanks for the fun and adventure!
A very nice hide within a hide, get it I surprised myself getting this one relatively quickly. I clever hide. It’s such a shame that this area is so unkempt now though. TFTC.
It’s always sketchy putting hands we’re you can’t see what’s there. Lol but sometimes a well placed finger can help out Tftc
This one took a bit to locate but eventually I was able to track it down.
The bird hides could do with a bit of love but maybe only cachers visit them.
Shame I couldn’t exercise my pup like this before I leave tomorrow, she would sleep the entire crossing . Check out the photos.
Just grabbing some caches before catching a ferry tomorrow morning. Then the adventure will begin.

This one took us a while to find and end the end we had to PAF for a hint. Luckily after 40 minutes we were able to make our find on this well hidden cache!

A group of us headed out to search for this cache after the CITO, not realising at the time that we could have driven to a closer point. As a few cachers were ahead of us, we turned up at the right moment when they were signing the log.
After checking out the hide, we continued along the road back to our cars.
Thanks Bushfire and Sims_family for a great hide in a lovely location.

Grabbed this one after the CITO with a group of cachers. Nice views and thankfully, a worn pathway. TFTC
I had a great time finding your cache Sims_family, thank you so much for placing it.
Well it must be getting close to Christmas as it is time to attend all of the annual Geelong Christmas events today.
That nasty Covid put a hold on these events but we are finally back.
Stayed in Little River for the night so I didn’t have to get up to early to head on down here.
2 events down so there is time to squeeze a few trads in before heading to lunch.
So a bit of a drive then a short stroll around Point Henry to have a look for this oldie from way back in 2004.
I was given a hint on where to look for this one and soon had the sneaky hide signed and replaced.
Thanks Bushfire and Sims_family TFTC.

Well it was a bit of a well worn path to follow to this one. A very good hide! TFTC
We are here for the CITO, but when a crowd of geocachers get together we’ve always got an eye on the map. For me this was a blue face on my map I wanted to yellow. I had been warned to bring someone tall to help retrieve. Luckily we had two taller participants in the group who walked here from the CITO site. It was found by the time I arrived so everyone was happy!
We were not going to go for this cache with the long record of DNFs but after reading many previous logs and CO notes we have thought it worthy of a look.
We really did give it a thorough search ( that’s what everyone thinks and says!)
We may just be another statistic, but there is a CITO here next weekend with the CO coming along, with other previous finder present also, so it will be interesting to see what evolves and what the CO may say and do.
We will be keenly watching.

A message and visit to GZ from the kind CO had us sorted in no time.
CO wanting to ensure that I’ll everything is OK for up and coming CITO.
There was an initial anxious moment when the CO couldn’t find it, however all the pain evaporated when he looked in the right spot!!!
Apparently some things structurally have changed a bit.
TFTC and all your help today.

As promised I ventured out to Point Henry to check out why Groundspeak sent me another message that this cache may be missing but as I thought they were wrong again.
This old fella was moved because of the actions of some odd folk who caused some cachers some problems but in its new location Mother Nature has stepped in and it is a very difficult cache to find. You will require some of bushfire's tools to find this cache so be armed and prepared for a tough find. I will place an image of the old log book with this log. Also bring your own pen to write your name in this cache that was placed early 2004.
Check out Bushfires tools as some will help find this cache.
Did not see the black snake that was reported near this bird hide.

Out of isolation tomorrow so will start checking my disabled caches. I really think this guy will still be there, I will find out tomorrow the 17th January.
Back in Geelong but now in lockdown due to a COVID-19 TEST AND WAITING FOR A RESULT.
Gee results are very slow these days due to numbers I guess.
I will check this guy out ASAP.

After four DNF's I will check on my return. I think it will still be where I left it on my last visit.
First one for the day, after reading past logs I thought this might take a while, but was glad to find it pretty quick with alexikatty tftc.
After hearing nightmarish stories about this hide we were overjoyed to actually find it in no time! Thanks for this one Bushfire, a favourite from us
We searched for a good 10 minutes with no luck and with some cars parking and turning where we had left the car we called it quits and got out of here which was a real chame as we wanted to find this old cache

We came to look fir this cache due to its vintage but were unable to locate it
After an extended weekend away in the surf coast area it was time to head home but not before lunch with a friend and a few more caches!
Redeeming a previous dnf here! There was also a dnf at the wooden lookout near the navigation tower but that cache seems to have disappeared . At least one blue frown turned upside down. A very clever hide!
Thanks Bushfire for the cache.
Update: just noticed this was previously the cache under the lookout which has now been relocated. Thought I was going crazy!

Final cache to be checked today as some folk have had some problems out here.
Well I found two caches here today one which I have never seen before so I have removed it and placed the log inside my origional container so now there are two logs in this cache but the biggest one dates back to 2007 and is fairly full so please use the smaller one.
Also be careful as today I was followed again by a guy in a Toyota ute with the number plate ZDZ172, THIS IS THE SECOND TIME HE HAS FOLLOWED ME TO THE END OF THE ROAD AND ALSO WALKED DOWN TO TOWARDS THE BIRD HIDE. I walked back past him and shortly later, he also returned to his vehical and drove off. I should have used my two cameras in my 4x4 to photograph him but I did record an image of his ute. The first one was early 2020.
PLEASE be alert to who is around you down here. This cache was moved to this location because of these guys following and watching cachers at the old location.

The fourth trip for Mr Dromaniax, the Third for Mrs Dromaniax, and finally, we were successful. We did receive a significant hint from Bushfire, which enabled us to track it down. The cache had come adrift from its mooring, which made it more difficult to find, but knowing we were looking in the right place, we persisted. A long TOTT assisted us in retrieving the cache so that we could sign the log. We did not have appropriate materials to restore the cache to its former status but have hidden it in the same location in a retrievable position. We will contact the CO and advise of this. Apart from the coming adrift, the cache is in great nick. Thank you for your assistance and this cache Bushfire. Giving an FP as this is the first cache we have had to visit so often, and it is a surprisingly beautiful part of the world.
You have to know that you don't have you mojo working when you have looked and looked for a cache and then need to PAF for some help, only to find that where you have already looked is where the cache is. Lesson to self - look more carefully and believe that it is there.
We did see a snake near this cache so please remember water snakes and frogs come as a complete set.

It got the better of me, so went back & had another crack & success. Good hide at a good hide
After updating the co-ords and placing a new parking location somehow the ageing bushfire placed two parking areas, one which was the same co-ords as the cache which of course was incorrect. Thanks to the reviewers who picked this up and now everything should be correct.
There is no pen in this new container so please bring your own as you cannot count on the cache owner to always supply one. The origional old log is in this new container.

As the previous location has become a meeting place for some undiserable males I was forced to shift this cache to a difference spot but I have now decided to move it a little furthur and place it under cover in a bird hide.
I will also provide a parking location close to this new location.

Even with all the hints and clues we still couldn’t find it. 0/2 for bushfire! Will be back soon!
After a couple of DNF's after moving this old fella I went out just to check and it was still waiting to be found behind a small scrub or tree. The type of container may have thrown the seekers off but pick it up and check.
It’s a shame to see this area as run down as it was - I gave this a 10 min search but after reading previous logs pulled the pin.
Went to all three bird viewing boxes. Spotted no 'new' steps. Wasn't really sure what we were looking out for in terms of cache. Bit dissapointed but good views and found a bee hive.
This cache has finally been shifted due to undisireable guys watching and trying to start up conversations with cachers who where looking for Bay Views at it's previous location.
It has been moved not all that far but please do not park near the old location but drive to the lower road or go to the end of the road near the start of the pier and there are a number of tracks and it is placed near one of three bird hides.

Due to the actions of some undisireable gked uys this cache was removed from under the viewing platform and has lived at the Ent Nest for the last few months but I have been out and checked where it could be placed today and I think I have found a couple of likely locations but it will need to be changed by a reviewer as it is more than 161m from the origional location.
I will go out again in the next couple of days.
I will go out again in the next couple of days.
Due to the present COVID-19 problems I cannot get out there to relocate this cache, so until we are allowed to freely move around there is nothing I can do to fix this cache.

Owing to the bad experience by the last seeker of this cache that was placed 16 years ago I think it is time for a move to a safer location as I too have had the same experience with men who appear out of nowhere and either stand at the top of the steps and watch or try to engage you in conversation.
I will contact the reviewers and get their ideas of this guys future but owning to it's history and age I will require their help in relocating.
Furthur to the above I have been out to Point Henry again today and removed the container and on checking out a new location again I had a lone male follow me down to where I parked and he just sat in his grey ute and watched, so it is with a deep heart I am going to not place this guy back out to be found for at least two months and in the mean time I will keep checking out the area and photograph any vehicles that follow me and will forward them to the police as advised to when I reported the incidents this afternoon.
Very sorry for what happened and I will be in contact shortly.

This one wasn’t my best choice of locations for a lone woman. I was busy looking for the cache over a hill behind a building when a man appeared, startling me. He was standing to the top of the narrow staircase between me and a safe place to run attempting to strike up a conversation about the views - views I hadn’t yet pondered, and in that moment wasn’t particularly interested in. Using a supposed phone call as distraction I slipped past him and took off like a rabbit being chased by a fox. The man followed.
Don’t expect my return any time soon.

After some looking we eventually located GZ! Watch out for steep broken steps that could be dangerous if not seen! Thanks for the cache
Have to try this again. Looked and looked and looked after reading more logs. No luck.
After being muggled out by construction workers last visit, I came back today on a weekend with kenare and kenbryl. After looking in a few possible spots, the cache was found hiding nice and snug. Cigc. Tftc
Sean.75, kenare and I went to the caravan and camping show before grabbing some lunch and the heading over here. We parked and ate up the top then drove down to walk back up. I rubbed it in to kenare about how easily I made it over the broken steps! Great coords led to a quick find. Tftc
Sean.75 and I were muggled out here last time. This time it’s a weekend and we were able to go closer. Kenbryl laughed at my efforts to get over the broken steps. Cache was soon found, signed and replaced. Tftc
We tried and tried but were unable to find this one.... flies and mosquitoes eventually got the better of us! TFTC
After lots of scrambling, March fly attacks and sliding through scrub the four of us had no luck.
