Logs
TFTC JENPETEH, The H,s , South Africans living in Tassie GeoCaching our way around Australia and loving it Log very wet
Beautiful little detour of the main track to such a nice and peaceful place. Moss on the rocks, treeferns, shade, and falling water. Cache is quite moist inside but could still sign the log. Thanks Snuva
At the start of the track, theres a sign that says no stopping, so we decided to keep walking to obey the sign. Its a beautiful track, at the end it was decorated with ropes and reflective things; maybe because its almost Christmas? The last few meters are best not to be done in the dark, and then a quick find was made. Loved it!
In hindsight back at home logging my finds i must apologise... for not reading the Geocache Description first when i was out finding Caches with dodgy reception.
If i had i would not have ventured into here... oh well, what's done is done
I parked the bicycle near the causeway and wandered up on the wrong side of the creek, obeying my GPS which said it was on this side hence the decision... blame my GPS ha ha.
I was at an awesome spot with a platform on the other side. "I wonder if it's over there?"
i said to myself after a fruitless search on the 'wrong' side.
It was only then (with limited reception) i read the Geocache Description and the hint said "End of Path" so i carefully crossed the stream [:o] no harm done as the stream was not raging
After about 5 minutes i spied the 200ml Sistema up in under the mossy log behind the rock.
The contents were saturated all bar one new-ish logbook bag, which amazingly was still dry-ish since the last find was 24 Feb 2019.
I SL at 11:57 on Thursday 2 September 2021.
Only past find and sign did i find the track out, only to see the bunting at the end... ok, now i get it. It was closed [:o] Oh well... my act wasn't deliberate and i did find the cache so i can confirm it is still there
It's a lovely spot so it will be nice when the repairs are complete

Track still closed, see picture.
Well this is an amusing dnf.
I approached this on the pipeline track heading TO fern tree, opting to boulder hop/scramble the last sixty odd metres up the creek for lack of a path until i arrived near gz where i found the nice platform and formed path... dug around for awhile unsuccessfully until as the day was getting on, decided to call it for another day and followed the cleared path back down to the pipeline, where i amusingly discovered the tracks actually still closed. Oops.

Coming down to Hobart to visit the newly relocated Hancock Clan, we needed to decide on a good target for the day. The Dragon’s Lair looked right up out alley, so we walked the majority of the powertrail to reach it. A few DNFs along the way, but a great place for a power trail.
The gps signal was highly dodgy in places, so the hints came in very handy indeed.
A nice little detour from the trail to grab this one. Pretty spot.

An enjoyable day out caching with Delloro who was staying with us for the weekend. The target for the day was The Dragon's Lair and it was a nice bonus to have this trail of caches to find en route! TFTC!

Also thanks to TassieTreckers for replacing the log.
Suggest bringing a torch and gloves, both of which I had fortunately.

Back in Tassie finding caches that we have not found since our last visit.
Today on the way back from the Dragon's Lair I tackled a few more caches and this was one of them.
Having read previous logs I placed a new log sheet and zip lock bag. An easy find at GZ.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

I stopped at the Well for a bite to eat and then headed to Wellington falls. Only after visiting the falls did I realise there was a cache back at the well. So I backtracked and used the opportunity to have another break.
This one took me quite a bit of searching as there were several likely places. I was just about to give up and head home when I spotted the container tucked away!
Sadly the log was somewhat damp and mouldy. I managed to sign it but it was starting to fall apart as I did so.
Still, it was a glorious day and there was heaps of water pouring into the well! That and meeting some of the local fauna made this a day to remember!
TFTC, Snuva, and a very merry Christmas/Happy Holidays and a safe and prosperous New Year to one and all!

Hi snuva, thanks for this cache, and for making me get off my bike for this little side walk into a most interesting feature. Stopped en route to remove a couple of leeches from one party member's leg.
Found on a big day out with jnr ep, Lil Rafa and AlbyDangles as we cycled back down the PTPT.

Fourteenth stop on a very long day of geocaching, with a little bit of dragonslaying thrown in for good measure, with EeePees, jnr EeePees and AlbyDangles. Nice little side track to a great spot, although I did manage to pick up a couple of leeches here. They were soon spotted and removed, and I'm sure I won't think about them again until I have two really itch spots on my legs in a couple of days. Thanks for putting a cache here Snuva.
Rode our bikes in and grabbed this one along the way. Great little spot on a perfect day. Log very wet. TFTC
This was a bit of a side mission as we rode down the hill, a couple of the party stayed with the bikes and four of us walked up to this great little area where we were the only people here so it was a quick search and soon added our names to the log. Great place thanks for bringing us here.
Now I hate copy and paste logs with a passion on my caches but today I am going to do the same, so how do I justify this faux pas with myself you may ask? Well its a power trail and even with all the caches being just a little bit different but all at the side of the trail it was starting to be all a bit the same (ride for a few moments search for a cache ride on) but having been planning to do this series for a few years now I was glad to be asked to join the group today by Goose of Goose and Egg, it was Bear of Smiley Bears idea to start with so its all his fault. I have been up this trail a couple of times before, once to the JABs Event '4 K a milestone of Stories' where I walked up the trail on my lonesome since the original planned event had to be changed due to JABs having other commitments on the day, the second time was another event 'Dragonology Picnic Party Event II' where I was surprised to get a lift to GZ and then after a great day finding the far caches of the trail and also the Dragon with the help of Swampy and his trusted helpers I got a lift part of the way down since the 4WD drivers had a spare seat and my feet were hurting more than I was prepared for.
So this time it was the bike ride to the top that I had spoken of to Mrs rat many an evening where we had said 'we will do that one day' so a big thanks has to go out to Bear and Goose for getting us to do it, we all know what 'we will do that one day' plans are dreams! Well today we had a dream come true with a great ride up the Pipeline with good company finding that provided that little push we needed to do this ride.
So to today's ride it was a 9.30 meet where we all turned up and got ourselves and our bikes together, after a bit of chat we headed up to hill with most of us pushing our bikes till the turn to the East, we rested here while myself and Bear headed off to look in on a nearby cache but with both of us getting the wrong idea and not wanting to hold up the whole group we headed back to the junction with not so much as a DNF as a DNL(Did Not Look) so it was 10.15 before we all got on our bikes and started up the trail.
This is when the static in my head started and everything rolled into a ball as we made our way up the side of the mountain enjoying the ride, the views and the caches. Having now done this trail three different ways I would say they all have there merits, driving had speed on its side, walking had the better views and the time to enjoy the sights and cycling is sort of the best of both worlds with us getting back down about 15.30. We are already planning at least two return trips to grab this cache or that.
Thanks to all the cachers who have hidden this fine trial, you have made for a great day out until next time.

We had been wanting to the Pipe Line Power Trail for a couple of years now but, for one reason or another, things had not come together nicely until today. Arrangements with smiley_bear and stainless-steel-rat (and Mrs Rat) were made and we met at the car park at Neika at around 0930 for our cycling adventure. The skies were overcast but it was still warm which made perfect weather.
The six of us had a fabulous day riding up to the weir (where we had out picnic lunch) and back, finding all the caches were looked for, thankfully no DNFs for us today. We returned to the car park around 1530 for a celebratory drink and the obligatory box of shapes.
Thank you to all the geocachers who have placed caches along this very scenic and somewhat historic track for us to find and enjoy. We are already discussing a return visit.
We saved this for last. After getting to the end of the Pipeline Track and having lunch, this was the only place we stopped on the way back. A great little side trip although the trees do hide part of the view now. The cache and log were damp but still ok to write on. TFTC

A great day caching was had by our party of 6 (Goose and Egg, Mr & Mrs Rat and Smiley & Bear) with no DNFs. A bike ride up the pipeline track with perfect weather conditions. TFTC.
Travelling around Australia and spending a few months in Tasmania.
It was lunchtime before we set off with a plan to tackle some of the PTPT trail. Geobikes on the back we parked near Wallaby.
We arrived in the drizzling rain and decided to have our sandwiches before we set off. 12noon before we headed up the trail and in light drizzly rain. Over 4km we rode and bumped into about 7 muggles even though its a weekday.
We took lots of new logsheets but next to no new cache containers 'big mistake' but off we went for 5 hours before we returned to the geo cruiser.
The weather cleared and after 2 hours we actually saw some sun! Most caches were easy finds especially with the hint but some took an age! [xx(]
A fun afternoon.

Mr W decided to unearth his bike from the shed and go for a ride up the pipeline track. Not being sure what the weather would do today. he went prepared. On the way back from the Wellington Falls it decided to drizzle. The track was very muddy but riding the bike proved a very successful way to tackle the end of the power trail. Left the bike on the track and walked to GZ. Located quickly. Lots of water around. TFTC
Thanks for this little detour off the pipeline track. It was a tranquil place to visit this afternoon.
Our little group were heading for home after a successful mission to the Dragon's Lair. Seeing as the rest of the group had found most of the caches on the trail already, dabom81 and myself took off ahead to see how many we could conquer. At this part of the track AINSTAR and scottymyth caught up to us. As is mostly always the way for me, I lead the group the hard way in, straight up the creek It certainly was a bit of fun though. After searching for the cache for a while we finally had the beasty in hand. We signed the log and then replaced the cache as it had been found. Such a beautiful location!

Thanks so much for the inspiration to come up here. It really is such a short easy stroll up from the path . Our phone GPS was starting to play up so the hints were really appreciated tftc, great lunch spot
Cache found quickly, thank you for this hike Return will be done in the rain Haha
Gotcha !!! TFTC Dried out a little more whilst we ate our lunch at this fantastic GZ. Water cascading over rocks – check

Kind to ‘geriatric retirees’ - check

Old rusty mechanically stuff – check
All applies to us or our favourite things..... so a favourite from me today.

With Mrs y'stassie at a two day embroidery workshop, Mr y'stassie headed off up the Pipeline Track to look for caches published since our previous visit. Being very close by, Mr y'stassie took a short diversion to head to St Crispen's Well. This is a delightful spot - so serene - and whilst there, the sun finally broke through and the warmth was appreciated. The hint led to a quick find. The log was a little damp but still signable. The moisture penetartion had occurred despite double bagging of the log book and all being placed in a waterproof container. There is really nothing more that can be done to protect this logbook - must be a very wet location at times. Thanks Snuva for placing this cache in a wonderful location - a "must visit" location for other cachers. Certainly earns a favourite from us.
Quick find on day 3 of Tassie Tour with Jyetara, quick find on a 13 km round trip up and down the trail.
Found on the way back to Huon Road after hiding PTPT Polygodial. Initially the sky was overcast but about half way back it started to rain and the search for more PTPT caches was abandoned. Rain at this stage was wonderful: smoke was very much in evidence from the January 2013 fires, particularly from the Forcett and the Tasman Peninsulas. Unfortunately the rain did not last long and would not have helped much.
An easy find in an interesting place. No muggles today. Thanks Snuva.

Called in to this cache after the Pipeline series (PTPT). Had no trouble finding it but returning the container was asomewhat harder. Two muggle girls turned up and settled in for a while. When neither was near the hide spot we pounced and while Sue stood to block the view Peter quickly replaced it. TFTC Snuva

Really loved this little place. A great spot to stop on munch on a muffin. Either the cache has slipped somewhat or Snuva is vertically challenged and has a very low waist.

Third go at the PTPT, it's getting pretty long. A very enjoyable walk today, was fairly sheltered from the strong northerly winds but still fairly warn(t-shirt weather in the shade). Grabbed Wallaby and Danger Island first then headed up the track a few km to number 18, and grabbed the rest including "and Snuva’s sensational". I was hoping to make it as far as the dragons lair but didn''t have time to check out this location, maybe next time. And also didn't have time to walk far enough to add to the trail.
Time got away from me a bit and the pressure was really on to get back quickly to pickup the kids from school. A not so leisurely walk back.
Thanks everyone who put out the caches I found today, all caches were easily found(mostly with help of hints) and in very good condition. The cache near the tap trick me for a bit as I didn't realize it was a tap.

If I hadn't already eaten my lunch then this would have been a very pleasant place to do so. I think I found the log that caused somebody the injury, but who had the headache?
I love this spot, and have camped a number of times next to, and in, the hut whilst growing up. It was very fitting to have a cache here, sympathetically hidden. And so it was! Thanks Snuva!
I was glade to stop by here on my way to see the dragon. I must say thaough it took a bit of finding as there is a lot of litter over the spot now.
The log was a bit damp and will need replacing soon.

This is one of my favourite spots on the mountain, but I haven't been here for ages. It was just as lovely as I remember it, but different: there have been some nice additions to the area since last I visited. I hadn't brought the clue with me, so I was hoping for a nice quick find, and so it turned out to be. I'm going to have to come and visit again ... but sooner than 15 years this time! Found on route to the Dragon's Lair. Thanks, Snuva.
This was done on our way back down the mount after attending the Dragon Lairs event. A very worthwhile diversion - we thoroughly enjoying having a seat for a while before finding the cache - a really sensational spot. Thanks for bringing us here and for the cache Snuva
All the years I've been coming here an never knew there was a cache! One of the best places on earth. iPhone users make sure you check the hint first - reception is not great

Find #500!
At the turnoff near the hut, I saw someone walking back along the Pipeline track with a yellow device in their hand, which they quickly put in their pocket.
I got my etrex out to see if they would recognise a fellow cacher, but they didn't, so I trotted off up to the pretty little waterfall.
I had to wait out a family, and then it took me a few minutes, but I found it.
Thanks, Snuva!

What a beautiful place
Seasonal place for a cache, although my gps was trying to tell me 40 metres further on past the end of the track, but given the overhead foliage there is no doubt it was getting little signal (25 metres of accuracy).
Using the clues the cache was fairly easily found, but I made sure I put on my gloves first before I retrieved - to many spider webs in there - and no doubt to many spiders so better to be safe

Hi Snuva; what an experience this cache turned out to be. On the trek in, I was nearly run over by two cyclists; passed by a ladie jogging in her bright red bra and at my old age that could have meant a heart attack. Anyway, I found and logged the cache at 1036hrs. What a wonderful spot. Stayed a while and took it all in and contemplated its serene beauty. Did not know that it existed so thank you for a new experience. TFTC and cheers OldSaint.
Me last day on Tasssie Nice walk neat place got my water bottle refilled easy TFTC (Denmark)
We walked from The Springs - Wellington Falls - Neika, stopping on the way to find this cache. Of course we couldn't see a track so we scrambled up the rocky bank to find there was an easier way. Viewing platform was roped off due to damage but we took our lives in our hands, ducked under the rope and proceeded to GZ. Found the cache and logged our visit. TFTC.
Down and Down the Mountain,

I was most pleased when my Reluctantly Caching Spouse suggested cycling to this location with another family, to help celebrate Mother's Day .
I've been here a few times, but not for about five years. (Last time, was when I had this crazy notion that this would be a nice short walk to do for an overnight camp with Freddymjt, who was 3 at the time! Yeeeshhh!!! He still has fonds memories of it, although I'm sure he can't remember that I ended up carrying him most of the way there and back.)
This time it was much easier on bikes, and Gee-oh impressed us all with his stamina. We started to have a look for "Danger Island" on the way back, but quickly realised that it was going to be a cache too far, so it's saved up for another time.

Last time we were here we had very bad satellite reception and no hint with us. Today the reception wasn't much better but at least we had the hint.
Great day for a bike ride along the Pipeline Track.
TNLN.
Thanks Snuva.

Nice easy find. I love what they have done with the track and the new lookout. Very schmicko. TTFC again Snuva!
Found it!...and about time too. We have been slack about getting caches for far too long. This one was highly anticipated while we were on our way to the Dragons Lair. I needed a bit of 'up' to stop my legs cramping!
Because of the crowd, it was impossible for Sog to find, log and rehide the cache, so we all took turns signing.
Did you know almost everybody walked under the log without even seeing it?
What a gorgeous area!!! Thanks for the cache, and the chance of a leg stretch.

...and Snuva's sensational!
It needed to be explained to me, but I get it now.
Found in the company of Mrs Cheesy, Sirius, Tim the Enchanter and Mrs. Forthferal while at Swampy's Dragon Slaying event.
We'd never been to this sensational spot before.
Thanks Snuva.

Finally got this one, missed the original unfortunately. Thanks Snuva for the detour, the change of pace is a good refreshment. found in the company of SweetiTweeti
Found by Sirius and TTE in the company of friends. A good cache that will be revisited with the rest of the team on a sunny, clear day so the full 'sensation' can be sensed.

And we're back! Old cache retrieved and new, small container hidden in a new spot as the place where the old cache was is not longer legally accessible.
Found with good company. A pretty place even in the dark. The improvements, I guess are necessary.
Thanks Snuva for the cache

Found this evening on a visit with Snuva, Rebulus and red Tag.
The cache was logged then Snuva relocated it to comply with current regulations. Even at night a pleasant spot to sit on the new facilities there. Thanks Snuva
Now were did I get this bump on my head from????

Had the opportunity tonight to return to this lovely place and appreciate it with good friends on such a nice evening.
For the second time tonight gspblu really used his head and kept us entertained .... so that's what an unconscious person looks like!
Thanks for the cache Snuva and thanks for maintaining it so us newbies have caches to find.

My spies tell me the area has been changed significantly, so even if the cache is still there it should be moved. Disabling until able to check this out.
a very pleasant walk but no cache. Will have to come back soon and give it another go.
Thanks Snuva

Had set off for this another time with puppy in tow, but changed our minds with the huge "dogs not allowed in water catchment area" signs. So today I set off for a jog by myself wondering how far it would be. A fantastic path for jogging or cycling and saw quite a few riders. Found cache easily in its great hiding spot, and just as I'd put it back a couple of hikers appeared from behind me which was a surprise, but all was fine by then. Saw that the DDT's were there on the same day before me, I wondered if I'd run into them somewhere. A lovely spot, thanks for getting me to go there, Snuva!
It was a sunny Saturday, so we decided that we had procrastinated about doing this one long enough and made our way back to the mountain (besides, want to do all the current mountain caches before winter starts to set in - and don't want to do the housework and gardening!!). Plenty of biking muggles around but none as we found the cache - although some runners did come from above shortly after we had recached it! Great spot to visit and great cache hiding spot. Our gps was well behaved and led us straight to the cache Took lizard keyring and left big gree forg magneet. Thanks Snuva.
Evening trip to avoid the crowds. Always a lovely spot to visit. Lots of pademelons spotted on way back. Swapped fish for lizard. Have known floods here after really heavy rain (crossing in almost waist deep water) but hope cache will stay high and dry. Thanks Snuva!
... and RapidSupreme's got a sore foot. (Dangers of standing on a jackjumper nest while looking at the view).
I needed to do a little excavation to get the cache out - I have no idea how it got in there originally!
Nice little spot, great for a drink bottle refill (sorely needed)
Took sideshow bob, left play-doh kit
Thanks Snuva.

...And Swampy is sorta OK. Took off this morning as the skies were threatening rain, riding the treddlie as fast as my legs of steel would take me.
Arrived at the location to be greeted by no sat coverage out in the open but fairly good under the canopy - go figure! Trip took 40 minutes.
Had to resort to the hint but found OK.
Took nothing, left something. Thanks Snuva

It was sensational day indeed, beautiful weather, nice views and interesting spot. Took lady bug left mini staples. Thank you Snuva.
...and Caxixi's celebrating a FTF and collapsing into bed!
What to do on Show Day? Sleep in? leisurely breakfast? a bit of gardening? maybe even read a book? I had a lovely relaxing day planned but as I sat in the garden eating breakfast and looking at the mountain I started to twitch and think "FTF FTF FTF". And I knew I wouldn't be able to relax, so instead I set off on a five hour walk. Luckily it was a gorgeous day, the scenery was beautiful and the track was (mostly) flat.
Took Sideshow Bob (for el golco, who seems to have taken a bit of a shine to him) and left jumbo chalk. SL.
