Some time ago I managed to get hold of a very old street atlas of Hobart and on it was shown the police stations.
Today I went for a walk to see if I could find one of them. One of the ones nearby has been pulled down and rebuilt as a shop so I wandered a little farther afield into town to find this one.
It wasn’t too long after I first got my driver’s licence that I was sent to find a house just up the road at number 1 Murray Street to replace a gate post. I drove up and down this street passing this police station many time before I eventually found it. Of course the post that was missing had the house number on it.
I don’t know when this station was closed down but it was here in the early 60’s.
