We have a most unusual pet that has been with us ever since we moved into this house fifty six years ago.
It is a huntsman spider called Fred. It’s probably like my hundred year old grandfather’s axe that has has twenty new handles and five new heads.
In other words it may have been many descendants from the original, but we have only ever seen one.
We don’t have to feed him, change his water, or take him for walks.
He is very shy and only appears when it is going to rain a lot.
He appeared last week on the wall, and today we have had over an inch of beautiful soaking rain.
