Gallery of log for Whats Your Pet

Well... I had a dog named Boots till 10 days ago. And since then I have been dog sitting for my daughter. This is the closest I'm going to be to having pets now. I think travelling will be much easier without one. And I can't care for them like I used to.
Boots was once a happy and energetic Blue Roan Cocker Spaniel. He became like a very grumpy old man in the last year, snapping at little things and always needing to go to the vet. He cost me over $1000 in one one month last year, so it's no wonder I've been homeless for the last few months. hahaha He was good company sleeping in the car with me even if he was grumpy. I believe he had some kind of healing power. One time a daughter came home so drunk she kept stopping breathing. I had to sit beside her and shake her to keep it going. Boots kept pacing back and forth trying to get on her bed. I refused to let him. Eventually I gave in. He jumped up beside her, lay a paw on her leg, and started whimpering. She immediately started breathing freely and I eventually fell asleep. Another instance another daughter was in a similar state and kept moaning. Same thing happened with the dog. I gave in, let him jump on the bed, he put his paw on her, started whimpering, and she immediately fell quiet and asleep. Thats just the two most obvious examples. I sometimes wondered if there really is more to dogs than we think, like can they actually heal?

The dog I am sitting is a Maremma puppy called Taika (named after one of my two fave directors - so glad my kids like his stuff too). He's been good for me considering the circumstances. Tonight I gave him a talking to about mouthing my leg (it's been biting at my nerves, literally). He stared straight at me the whole time. Then he started 'talking' back to me. It was so weird. I've been sitting him for over 2 weeks and he hasn't done that the whole time. It was very cute actually.

I'll see what photos I have on my computer that I can share.
Thanks for the first opportunity I have had to talk about my Boots since losing him 10 days ago.
