Unusual and interesting things you have come across in your travels.
Log the co-ords and a photo of any unusual things and amusing signs that take your fancy
We have posted this one as an example. Found just outside Mareeba in Far North Queensland.
It has now become a point of interest for us on each trip as the owners change the signage and the clothes for various occasions.
Logs
That's me in the shaddow of the photo, embarking on a journey in the Outback WA, the Gunbarrel Highway.
Thanks for the Locatioless cache
What's going on here??
Trouble brewing I suspect......
TFTC !!
I'll probably give the multi the flick & hide a SideTracked cache here. Taking photos for a Waymark I saw this official sign which I found amusing. The station is unmanned so not to sure about the opening hours or even the need for the sign. On second thoughts if it was only open 18 hours a day who would police it? Good decision.
I'm on a roll. Do you want to travel by train from Central to Wingello for free? According to this sign you can.
The sign reads: As of August 1st 2002 this station no longer sells tickets. Tickets must be purchased at your destination. There is a problem of course. TFTC.
Not the usual type of Falcon you expect to see ina tree.
The landowner had this put into a tree by a crane, to promote a book he was writing.
The cache is not on private land but the vehicle in the tree is, so the photo is taken from a distance away.
I thought it would be most suitable for this Locationless, thanks The Goons.
Wondered why RAY F SHING was so special to be an exception to the FISHING PROHIBITED rule until we saw the same undoctored sign at the other side of the pond.
FISHING PROHIBITED EXCEPT FOR CRAY FISHING

Saw this beaten up EH ute turned in to a flower pot. Interesting
Very Solid & Unmoving Visitors at the Fairmont Resort
Sublime Point Road
Leura, NSW
From a distance, you think there are a couple of guests using this bench right next to the famous Fairmont Resort on Sublime Point . . .
But when you get a bit closer . . .
No, we don't often see a lot of traditional music performed on the main street of my home town, but this man was performing at the annual Leura Fair (in Leura, NSW, in the Blue Mountains).
I listened for some time and made a payment. And it was well worth the price.

Driving around this town grabbing the caches and stopped opposite this church to use the public toilet there.
Was most amused by this sign.
As I was taking the photos 2 ladies from the church pulled up and I got talking to them. They thought I was taking photos of the stained glass windows so I didn't disillusion them'
Thanks.
Playing the Bagpipes in the Blue Mountains
Nope. You don't often see this happening in Blackheath, NSW.
So wot's goin on 'ere? This group was entertaining the crowds at the annual Rhododendron Festival when I spotted them!
And there's a longtime geocache located only a few metres away . . .
Another Strange Sign in Katoomba, NSW
Actually, it should read 'Lady of Grace Funerals' but looks like it's written in Arabic when you first glance at it.
Yes, it's actually upside and backwards!
I think the business is long gone, and no-one seems to be using the premises . . . so the sign remains.
Funny Sign in Katoomba, NSW
I can imagine how frustrating it is to run a business and have a great many customers constantly struggling with the door -- especially when there's no problem with the door!
This business owner, right across from the Katoomba Railway Station, certainly has a sense of humour!
"From the Bridge Dodane, for the curious, looking for the 3 works of Stephan Balkenhol. These three statues were made at from the same trunk of oak. Easily discover man on the buoy but will you manage to locate the man in the red shirt and the woman in the green dress?"
It seems the locals regularly dress this one in different t-shirts - white in the the cache listing photo, black when I found him.
On another visit to this spot I discovered a submerged hatchback in the canal! (I found the photo )
So there really is a "La-La Land", here is the proof.
Thanks for the fun of this locationless.
Update: Two days after the original log above there was a story in the local paper about this - Ulverstone has been yarn bombed, or yarn graffiti-ed if you prefer. The proprieter of the nearby hadicraft shop felt that her area of town had missed out on christmas decorations from the local council so got some friends together to remedy the situation. What a great idea!
We know that claims are made that things are bigger and better in the west but does Cyril actually weigh 16 tonne or were his scales faulty or did the sign-writers not proof read their work? What is going on here?
So what's wrong I here you say? Well, check out the well manicured view hahaha
What is this beautiful blond woman doing high up in the Blue Mountains -- actually on top of remote Lockley Pylon -- wearing a long blue dress? Is she dancing to celebrate the newly-arrived springtime? Is she performing some kind of religious ritual?
Well, it's a photo of my wife, Mrs. pjmpjm, taking photographs of the many magnificent mountain panoramas, while I performed 'logging duties' nearby, by taking photographs for the EarthCache entitled 'A Lockley Story.'
Because this cache log involves a photograph of my dear wife, I'm rating the total experience as 'outstanding' and giving this cache the full 'Five Thumbs Up' -- just in case Mrs. pjmpjm read this log!

One of the amazing things about visiting here was how lush the coutryside was, and EVERYTHING was overgrown, it was just amazing.
The owner of this collection was outside, so I asked how often people stop by to take photos. She said it only happened 2 or 3 times each day. (-:
The cove is beautiful as well. PLUS there is a petrified forest there too. Lulworth Cove. I took this pic in August 2007 before I started Caching.
Will have to trawl through the photo archives for more worlwide random madness.
Subsequently found it was the subject of a cache - GCN315.
We were waiting at a red traffic light when this chap wandered over to our window and asked for a lift to Mephis. We told him it was a little out of our way, but really, we didn't want to share our burgers!
Found this high and dry. The captain must have done a big run up to get it this far!
Looks like it could be a home made hot rod kit.
Always wondered how far it was to the Bermuda Triangle. Will have to memorise these facts for the next quiz night!
A Very Amusing Car Park.
I don't fancy his chances of them floating but they are amusing to look at.
I wasn't sure if somebody had dummied the GoogleEarth shot, but people at work had also heard about the 'shark' that you could see from 'outer space'. So October 26 I had arranged with the local tribal leader for son and myself to access the site and check it out for ourselves. I took my Foretrex 101 to record the walk around. However, the GoogleEarth photo is quite old and the clearing was not cleared like you see from above. In fact, as the photo with 'Fang Shaw' shows, the whole area is rather overgrown, and the elders are planning on clearing it some time.
The current caretaker did not even know what I was talking about, but rather they pride themselves on the"Turtle", that you may, or may not imagine from the Earth shot, to the upper left of the shark.
Also I wanted to see if the 'stingray' was still there, but no, property developers have done a lot of clearing for an estate, and that is no longer there.
This link gives you a screen shot of what the GPSr recorded of when I walked around.
If anybody wants to check it out for themselves on the ground, please contact me at my GC profile so I can gain permission for you to enter, before you waste your time, or intrude on the tribe's privacy.
