Description
Time waits for no man, except where these clocks are!
This Cache is about finding those public timepieces that are now frozen in time (ie they are no longer running!) The clocks have to be outside, and each clock (even if multi-faced) can only be logged once.
To log, you are required to take a photo of the clock AND your GPSr showing the correct time! This can be a little tricky; I found with my camera that if I held the GPS at arms-length and in the centre of the shot, then half-pressed the shutter button for it to focus on the GPS, I could then lower the GPS and completely depress the button. (Poor button!)
I then took another shot of the clock only, so it could be seen clearly. For clarity’s sake I selected the GPS screen in an image-enhancement software package, and increased the contrast on this area.
I will be more forgiving with you, and generally take your word for it if it is hard to read the GPS in your image! Please include the location coordinates, time the photo(s) was/were taken, and any interesting information you can share on your slumbering chronometer!
I used as my example Scots Church in Bathurst Street, Hobart. The clock stopped around 10 years ago and no longer chimes because there simply aren't the funds or the manpower to keep it running.
The Thwaites and Reed clock is one of a collection of six purportedly gifted to Tasmania in the 1830s by the King of England, George V. However, the six clocks appear to have arrived in 1828, as they were on an inventory of the ship, the 'York'; this brings the whole “Royal Donation” notion into question.
The other five clocks are all still in the state, and as far as I know (here's an extra challenge!) are still running! They are:
(Old Trinity) Penitentiary Chapel, Hobart (Still running reliably, but no longer chiming)
St John's Church at Newtown (Still running reliably and still, I believe, ringing on the hour)
St John’s Anglican Church, Launceston (Still running)
St Luke’s Anglican Church, Richmond- Clock was installed in 1922; it had first been installed in the tower of St David's, Hobart ( Still running, although in 2005 legal proceedings where being taken to silence the chimes!)
There were, in the original inventory, two faces for each clock and mechanisms to operate those faces. The Penitentiary Chapel clock was installed by convict clock maker Richard Waters, and it is possible Waters installed the other five clocks which are now dotted around the State, although not all are in their original locations.
By the way, the Penitentiary Chapel and Criminal Courts Complex at 98 Campbell Street, just around the corner, is well and truly worth a visit, especially if you like gallows, underground tunnels, and prison cells!
Logs
VICTORIA
Another clock tower that is accurate twice per day is situated in Yea.
TASMANIA
This clock at st Luke's Church Richmond is another of those clocks that display the correct time twice in each day.
TASMANIA
I was in the area doing an Ad/Lab - Pontville Wander and noticed this clock at St Johns Church is in a situation where it shows the time correctly twice in twenty four hours.
This clock of St Lukes Uniting Church Bothwell is clearly not operating.
The St Johns Anglican Church clock is not running at this time. It is stuck on 12:00. In the photo the clock is 12:00 while the time on my phone is 03:51.

A great place during the holidays for the time to stand still
I am pointing to the clock in the photo, with the correct time up the top of the phone photo, completely different to that of the clockface where time stands still.
Thanks for the locatiionless cache
Thank you for the locationless.
I was shopping in Melbourne today and came across this clock on Londsale Street. It was 2.35 and the clock is showing 3.15. I stood for a while trying to get a photo with either my gps or fitbit but could not manage to get it to work on the busy street. Hope you accept my log. TFTC
On one of our walks to the shops we took a photo - clock says 8:40, actual time 1:17pm.
Thanks for this locationless.
Fitzroy Street
Warwick, Qld.
There are 2 clock faces on this tower and neither are correct - showing 3:30 and 11:35
In photo our GPS shows correct time of 4:45.

This clock will be repaired one day. It was a casualty of the earthquakes.
Leura Mall, NSW
This Blue Mountains clock has stopped again! They fixed it last year, but now something seems to have happened.
I struggled a bit to get the clock tower plus my GPSr reading, with the time showing, in the same photo, but seem to have succeeded with one of the pictures!
Have wanted to log this Locationless for a long time now . . . pardon the pun!
"On the corner of Church and Badajos Streets is St Johns Church of England which was built in 1868. The organ is more than 100 years old and the church is notable for its fine stained glass windows, its oak lectern and its unusual Caen stone pulpit." The light was wrong to capture the time on the gpsr, which was 15:11, but the camera time stamp clearly shows 15:11. The crisp shadows in the photo show it is not 10:01 PM, and the Google Satellite View in the second photo shows the clock tower face of the building runs Northeast to Southwest. At 10:01 AM the face of the clock tower would have been in full sun, and the shadow of the bollard would have run from right to left. The shadow of the bollard is consistent with the sun being a little north of West at 15:11.

SG-3 gave a fine description of when the GPO was built and it is a central feature on the Hobart city landscape. It seems quite odd for it to be stopped.
Thanks SG-3
The light was wrong to capture the time on the gpsr, which was 13:02, but the camera time stamp clearly shows 13:02. Just to be sure I took another photo at 13:04 and the Fast Eddys Clock hadn't changed from 5:50.

The clock is currently undergoing maintenance, and creating havoc with bus timetables!
thanks for the hunt. ( waypoint added 15/11/11)
The WanderingMrs had determined through the wonders of the Information Superhighway that there was line dancing that night in Kangaroo Flats, just south of Bendigo, so off we went again, and checked in to the A Line Caravan Park in Big Hill a little further south for two nights. Once again the WanderingMrs had chosen the caravan park through the Information Superhighway, and it was a top choice, excellent facilities and well laid out.
Before leaving the City of Greater Bendigo area I placed an "I've Cached Everywhere Man (ICEM)" cache, GA3409 WanAus 201 - Bendigo ICEM. After two nights at Big Hill we did a right turn and headed West through Saint Arnaud and Murtoa to Horsham, where sadly the Information Superhighway incorrectly stated that there was line dancing that night.
The WanderingMrs had also determined through the wonders of the Information Superhighway that there was over a week of line dancing at the Wentworth Services Club, so after a couple of cold, wet and windy days in Horsham, we headed towards Ouyen as our "halfway house" to the Wentworth area.
After checking in to the Ouyen Caravan Park we headed off to explore the town, and were surprised to find a very nice Bakery open at 3:00 PM on a Sunday, so we treated ourselves to some very nice cappucino and cakes for afternoon tea.
We then continued to explore the town and after hunting down GC1WE2K Visiting Mum by Honeysucker and TP0340 Ouyen Area by Geocaching Australia, as well as a number of assorted locationless caches, I spotted this Large Wheat Sheef with a clock which had stopped at 11:17.
The light was wrong to capture the time on the gpsr, which was 15:50, but the camera time stamp clearly shows 15:50.

Although now used as a head office for Forges/Dimmeys, I'm fairly sure this used to be home of Boon Spa soft drinks and cordials but not sure.
I know you could bring recycled glass back to the return depots that still exist today.
The clock has not worked for many years and the faces are stuck in a past life!!
TFTL
Hope all is good with it....and TFTL.
The left hand side is stuck at 12:09 but the right hand side still shows the correct time 5:12(pm).
As you can see from the photo this is at 112 Main Street in Lithgow, NSW.

Found this Clock meeting the cache requirements in the main street of Maruya.
Now happy to claim the 'find' - Thanks !
This is along Leura Mall almost opposite the railway station in Leura in the Blue Mountains.
Sorry about the photo but with the sun low down all I got was reflections on the GPSr, but at least the correct time is shown on one of the clock face!
Took two attempts to get a photo, had to enlist the help of a workmate to get a shot where we could see current time compared to the clock.
I've seen a few stopped clocks in Boston over the past four months, but I never seem to have a camera and a GPSr on me (or at least not separate ones!) when I need them. When I finally made it here with the necessary equipment, I was pleased to see that the clock was still showing exactly the same time as when I first saw it.
Thanks for the cache. I've wanted to do this one for a very long time.
It was about 6pm when I visited, and the hands are nothing like that. However, it was nicely lit.
We've had our eye on this clock for a while, just waiting for a visit with the GPSr and camera. The place was deserted on today's public holiday, so we were able to park the car right next to this clock.
The Kadina branch of the Commonwealth Bank is in Graves Street, which is Kadina's main street and CBD. This clock is double sided, with one side working, but showing the incorrect time, and the side that I've photographed which is permanently stuck on midday.
Although a bit blurry, the time on my GPSr is 4:08pm.
Thanks SG-3.

Funny enough the place is called the 'Clock Tower Apartments' Clever.
We passed at 11.33 as I have put the property details on screen. I use an Oregon 550, which has my camera in it.
Not able to find anything out as to why the clock is stopped at 12:00. Maybe to much money to keep running, or repair
Finally found this one today in a small shopping complex.
Almost 3 hours later, returning from the Reef Casino to the car, I saw the clock again, and took some photos. In the left portion the clock is very fuzzy but the time on my gpsr shows 15:39, which is enlarged in the next segment. The next segment shows the time on the gpsr as 15:40. The final segment shows the time on the clock as 12:03 PM.

Walking back to the docks after locating a nearby cache I noticed an area here where time was standing still..
Clock shows about 4:33 - real time was about 9:15 AM
St Josephs Cathedral in Vava'u Tonga
Wonderfull looking edifice ....
A massive contrast from the cab that had been barrell rolled - every panel dented, windscreen broken & still lined up to take passsengers for a ride (of their life probably)
Wonderful weather here today...
Now back to join the non caching part of my family for a shore excursion for the day...
So, will the owner allow this, or be mean and delete it... we will have to wait and see.
We found this clock at the Sunbury Train station.
Thanks for the cache.
This shows the North clock face. Note the long shadows, not found near midday in Darwin at any time of the year.
This is the South clock face, with the clock more in focus and the bonus of WanderingAus reflected in the gpsr.
My find No 1608, TNLNSL.

I noticed this is the second clock in Capalaba to be logged here that is not working.
I dont know how long this one has worked but it has been a few years. They have been expanding the shopping centre and the clock tower is slowly being covered up the extensions, so it was a hard to get a decent shot at the right angle.
It was 4pm when the shot was taken and the two faces we could see were showing 8:50 and 2:30.
It's on the busy intersection of George and Pitt St in Sydney's CBD. Note the left clock read 12.40, the right is 3.00, while the GPSr is showing 8.31.
Due to surrounding buildings and overcast conditions ,I could get no satellite reception at all so I have included my watch in the photo to show the actual time, 2.20, while the clock shows 4.45. The listed co-ordinates are from the upper level a short distance away. The history below is plagiarised directly from the internet. Thanks SG-3 for arranging this cache.
Brisbane Central is the central railway station for the QR City Train rail network of Brisbane, Queensland Australia. The first station building was a wood and corrugated iron structure, opened on August 18, 1889 as part of the line running from Central to Roma Street Station.
In 1901 an elegant new station was constructed at Central with arches of corrugated iron over the platforms and a portico on Ann Street. Both of these features were later sacrificed to progress, but during this period the original railway refreshment rooms were constructed.
In 1965 with the renovations complete a new Hotel named ‘Fihelly's Arms' opened for business, taking over the job of the refreshment rooms and servicing the people of Brisbane with cold beers, warm conversation and excellent food.
In 2005 the establishment was renamed ‘Grand Central Hotel’ with the addition of a gaming parlour, ‘The Dining Car’ restaurant and the ‘Platform Bar’. Today it is a thriving landmark Hotel, providing a truly unique experience for all patrons.
The ‘new’ hotel continues to be the central meeting place for city workers, train travellers and local residents. The food is first class, the beers are cold, the big screens provide entertainment and information and the welcome is always very friendly.
PS. They have $2 pots between 5pm and 6pm weekdays.
I still know of three more within 25km of Hobart CBD, and at least one in West Ryde, NSW (unless they've fixed it in the last 20 years )
While crossing a busy intersection in the city (well as busy as our intersections get) clever Mr red tag noticed that the time on the large clock on the corner was wrong. We waited for a while just to make sure it wasn't just slow and just having a bad day, but it had well and truly stopped. The actual time was 12.16pm and is just visible on the GPS.
Thanks for the cache SG-3
We noticed the clock in the Town Hall but after checking the time to see if it had stopped decided it was only 5mins fast,
While sitting in the shade enjoying our ice creams it was time to keep heading North,
Looking up at the clock to see what time it was we noticed the time on the clock hadn't moved so it was time to pull out the camera,
Unfortunately the photo that was supposed to show the time we took the photo did not turn out so we will take another and post it the next time we go past,
nobody seemed to know when the clock stopped but will try to find out on our next visit, Thanks SG-3
So the Collie Council has some close to home problems!
A nice old building.
We unexpectedly had a day in Sydney after our flight to Norfolk Island was delayed. Caught the train into Circular Quay and saw some sights by walking through the Rocks, Darling Harbour over to Central Station. Spotted this frozen in time clock on the way.
On finishing lunch I looked breifly at the clock upon the post office (across the road from the original Beechworth Bakery) and realised it was set on the wrong time. I took the picture, and returned later to check if clock has indeed stopped, and it was still stuck on 6:05.
I don`t know how long this time peice has been at a stand still, I`ve never really taken much notice of it.
Sorry about the photo, I couldn`t get the camera to focus on the GPS screen properly, and the sunlight was reflecting off it so it was hard to see. Next time I am there I will try again. The photo was taken at 1335 hours.
