Description
Beaufort is a town in Victoria, Australia. It is located on the Western Highway midway between Ararat and Ballarat, in the Pyrenees Shire local government area. It is 387 metres (1,270 ft) above sea level. At the 2011 census, Beaufort had a population of 1,539. The town takes its name either from Rear-Admiral Francis Beaufort or a Welsh village in Monmouthshire.
The area was once occupied by the Wadawurrung Aborigines who called the area 'Peerick' or 'Yarram-yarram'.
Thanks to Wiki for that info....
To me, Beaufort and the Pyrenees LGA are areas lacking in Geocaching Australia hides. So to help amend that, LuckyL10n and I placed a coupe of caches to try to entice cachers, and drivers on long drives, to stop, rest.......and yep, find a cache
This cache wont grab any world headlines for the best thing since sliced bread...but it's not meant too...it's about stopping and looking around the area...and of course, grabbing a smiley.
The cache is not right in town, you will need to drive a couple of klms south, but that shouldn't pose a problem.
Hope you can stop by the next time you're in the area.
(LuckyL10n was me when the cache was placed and will log a find after the first to find has been claimed)

Happy Blue Switch Day!
A group of us caught the train to Beaufort to mark the day... and celebrate chooknchunk's ten thousandth cache.
I went for a walk after lunch, and turned on the GA app on a whim while trudging back from the furthest flung hide. And what do you know?
Cache in good condition.
It was fun caching with you today.
Thanks, Sol de lune.
Does it get any better than travelling this great land of ours?
Thanks for the cache Sol de lune and for highlighting this area.
We still had some time and energy after the event so we collected a few local offerings.
Thanks for bringing us here Sol and Happy 2021
A quick find on a day our to get 3 x GCA geocaches for my research task.

A quick find while passing by. I think Beaufort is Victoria's equivalent of Port Wakefield - the town that should have been bypassed 20 years ago but for some silly reason, still hasn't been...

A perfect Spring day for a drive around in Beaufort.
Not many muggles around today, and a good quick find.
Thanks for the cache SDL,

We had decided to spend the night at Ballarat so decided to head back through the back roads to Ballarat picking up this cache near Beaufort.
One thing we love about travelling through these country roads, apart from the lack of road traffic, is the roads lined with the beautiful old, gnarled gums. Among the white and grey trunks we will suddenly see a vivid orange or mahogany trunk. Today we even spotted an olive trunk glistening among the whites and greys. We also enjoyed the variety of largish parrots forraging on the road verge.
The large gums near GZ were particularly beauĆ¾iful.
Accurate coordinates lead to a quick find and again the FTF spot was vacant giving us a third GA FTF at 15:45. The cache and contents were in very good condition.
Thanks for yet another cache Sol de Lune and an enjoyable tour of this area.
