State Rail Authority surveymarkers

Background

Sraheada.gif

The State Rail Authority, a former statutory authority of the Government of New South Wales, was responsible for the operation and maintenance of railways in the Australian state of New South Wales from July 1980 until December 2003.

The State Rail Authority was established pursuant to the Transport Authorities Act 1980 (NSW) that separated the functions of the Public Transport Commission with the State Rail Authority taking responsibility for trains, and the Urban Transit Authority responsibility for buses and ferries. In July 1982 a new colour scheme developed by Phil Belbin of red, yellow, orange and white was unveiled. This was commonly referred to as the candy colours. The L7 logo used by the Public Transport Commission was retained, albeit with the dark and light blue replaced with red and orange.

See Wikipedia for more details!

The locationless Geocache

The survey markes of the State Rail Authority are triangle metal plates with the string "SRA-SURVEY" and the number prefixed with "No" in it.

To log this cache, find a survey marker, make a photo, write the location and number in the log and add the coordinates.

4127, Railway Station, Mittagong, NSW

A State Rail Authority Survey Mark on Platform One Mittagong Railway Station. The survey mark is triangular in shape & located at the southern end of the platform. It is the same colour as the platform's surface & is difficult to see. The photograph of it on the platform shows how well it blends in. You need to be mindful that unscheduled high speed trains pass through this station so ensure the line is clear before taking a photo & keep well back from the yellow line. (My description on waymarking.com)

This one has all the info required but photo is a thumbnail as delete all photos once finished with & I Waymarked this in 2013. I'll grab a fresh photo when up there again.
