In the area picking up some GC caches and noticed this GCA cache nearby and recognising the CO we made sure we came up the road to find this cache.

A very windy chilly day. So we didn't stay long.

Found during a drive around the heel of Yorkes Peninsular, heading towards the toe.

Thought the anchor had been stolen, but found it in its new home the day after.

Will reveal the location in a cache very soon.

Whilst in the area this afternoon we stopped and completed the requirements for this cache. The required photo has been added to the Gallery. Although a little breezy today, the views along teh coastline were spectacular. Thanks Everlasting for the cache.

22-Apr-13
South Australia 2013 with Sol de Lune. We headed off on 12/4 and arrived home on 28/4. The trip was to visit the SA series so more time could be spent at the Mega itself next year. We did a huge variety of caching around Murray Bridge, the Mid North, Yorke Peninsula and Whyalla Region. Apart from one wet night and two wet days we were able to spend heaps of time caching.

This one seems to have gone a bit past schedule.
Thanks.

As promised, I have scanned the photo from my 1988 album showing what this spot looked like when there WAS an anchor there Very Happy

Now if only I had a gps back then, I could have logged this cache!

Found It! (well I found where it used to be!)
Strange, they have put up a permanent sign to explain why the anchor is away for repairs

After reading about this part of SA maritime history it was good to finally get to the place where it all happened....
Surprised to see the Anchor gone but commented on the Anchor at Edithburgh earlier in the day.... It now all adds up....
Have got the picture so will download it shortly... Thanks Everlasting for bringing us to this part of the State. Some very beautiful coastline and scenery.... A must for photographers

Where the bloody hell has it gone?!

Rocky Glen Grommets found this virtual cache at 5-45 tonight - VERY rough, windy and raining! Took a photo - will add to log tomorrow - cos it was dark, not a very scenic shot but still quite visible where we were. The coordinates were missing a digit - we guessed the digit and were correct! (whew!)
