Description
An easy walk through the Park
An easy strolle along the pathway . Lots of parking close by but if you ride its real easy.
This cache is in our home suburb and we walk this way on a regular basis.
However do you know that Kaleen was named from the Wiradhuri word for ‘WATER’, with a street theme of Australian rivers.
Not far away is the Belconnen Naval Transmitting Station (est. 1939) comprising 2 transmitting halls, several aerial arrays, a guardhouse, accommodation, messing facilities, a plant room, workshop and stores was an integral part of the district. Extensions, which had been added in the 50s and 60s, included a two-storey administration building, a regulating office and maintenance rooms.
A prominent station event in a non-military application was the broadcasting to many overseas countries of the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games.
In Feburary 1973 Belconnen’s first set of traffic lights was made operational at the intersection of Belconnen Way & Caswell Drive.
In terms of urban settlement Belconnen was forty years old in 2006. Development started at Aranda in 1966 and eventualy moved out, the most recent urban development being Dunlop and Bruce. Belconnen had been settled by Europeans farmers since the mid 1800s and some traces of agricultural activity remain. Before then it had been the home of the Ngunnawal people for some thousands of years.

One of these things....
I have come to Kaleen to do a bit of caching, having taken the day off because the Ridgeo-pup is a bit queasy and needs to be monitored today. I parked at the shops and was able to grab 3 caches, a toasty and a cuppa. The RP politely requested and was able to worry down a bit of dry toast - she is such a drama queen!
No Gym Junkies or other muggles this time and I was able to hunt in peace. Thanks for the cache DERF

Once at GZ I spotted the hide straight away for an easy find, which was good as the breeze was blowing off the snow on the lower ranges.
Thanks for the cache.

TFTC and a look at the backside of Kaleen.
Thanks derf. I liked the hide. It might be a difficulty of 1 for experienced finders but I remember when I was new to the game - that type of hide was not even on my radar. I also enjoyed stretching my legs in a different area.

Saw this one while at work and decided to duck out during morning tea.
A quick hunt around the GZ and I quickly had the cache in hand.
