Description

Take a photo of a Surf Life Saving Club

Yesterday whilst looking for a GA Virtual, Ripper View, and a GC Cache Santa Casa, I found the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club and took a photo, as you do, expecting there to be a Locationless in this category.

Today I have searched every variety of word I could think of, and this type did not come up, so I’ve created this one, hoping there isn’t one already.

CONGRATULATIONS 2y’stassies on FTF

Sawtell NSW
I realised I'd better grab the photo for this cache today before we go home because it's my last chance for Cacheopoly.
Like most SLSCs we've seen, the Sawtell SLSC has a good following for it's cafe. School holidays, brunch, delightful sunny day and a great beach... there were a stream of people coming and going.

We were caching at Port Sorell today and stopped to grab a photo of the Port Sorell Surf Lifesaving Club.
Must have ridden past this club a hundred times since this cache was published but never thought to stop and grab a photo before.
It is a great club and during the summer months they have markets here on Friday night and free live entertainment.
So while we are camping out here every year we usually come round for a meal from one of the food vans and to listen to the music and perhaps even pick up a bargain from the market.
It can be found at S41 9.073 E146 32.495
Thanks.

We were driving on the Sun shine Coast Qld and had jut found a few GC hides and was walking past the Alex Surf Club.

FOUNDED IN 1924, ALEXANDRA HEADLAND IS ONE OF THE STRONGEST CLUBS IN THE SURF LIFE SAVING MOVEMENT.
The origins of the Club can be traced back to group of young Woombye men in Mooloolaba SLSC, who were asked to assist in forming a Surf Club at Alexandra Headland. We have a proud and successful history in both lifesaving and competition with our members among the best in the country. Membership includes 11,000 members, including 500 nippers and 320 active patrolling members.

Among members are some of this community’s leading business personalities including, builders, developers, painters, architects magistrates and barristers Our success is built upon strong family foundations, where each member can find something to interest them, regardless of age or ability. We welcome all new members to the Club with our aim being to create an exciting future of sustainability whilst enabling participation in a wide range of services to the Club and the community.

Alexandra Headland Surf Life Saving Club is responsible for patrolling the beach between Mooloolaba and Maroochydore. Working closely with Surf Life Saving Australia and Surf Life Saving Queensland, we are an active member of the Sunshine Coast Branch. Our patrol season and competition season commences with the September / October school holidays, and concludes the first weekend in May. We train our members to become valuable Life Savers who patrol our beach, teaching techniques from surf swimming through to vital life saving and resuscitation skills. During patrol season, Nippers activities are conducted at the beach each Sunday morning from 7.45am.

It is raining very heavily at present and certainly not a day for the beach. However there was a short break which enabled us to get to the Ulverstone Surf Life Saving Club to get the required photos, which have now been added to the Gallery. One photo shows the sign on the western end of the building, whilst the other photo is of the centre and eastern end. Thanks CybergranV for the cache.
