Gallery of log for Surf Life Saving Clubs
We were driving on the Sun shine Coast Qld and had jut found a few GC hides and was walking past the Alex Surf Club.
FOUNDED IN 1924, ALEXANDRA HEADLAND IS ONE OF THE STRONGEST CLUBS IN THE SURF LIFE SAVING MOVEMENT.
The origins of the Club can be traced back to group of young Woombye men in Mooloolaba SLSC, who were asked to assist in forming a Surf Club at Alexandra Headland. We have a proud and successful history in both lifesaving and competition with our members among the best in the country. Membership includes 11,000 members, including 500 nippers and 320 active patrolling members.
Among members are some of this community’s leading business personalities including, builders, developers, painters, architects magistrates and barristers Our success is built upon strong family foundations, where each member can find something to interest them, regardless of age or ability. We welcome all new members to the Club with our aim being to create an exciting future of sustainability whilst enabling participation in a wide range of services to the Club and the community.
Alexandra Headland Surf Life Saving Club is responsible for patrolling the beach between Mooloolaba and Maroochydore. Working closely with Surf Life Saving Australia and Surf Life Saving Queensland, we are an active member of the Sunshine Coast Branch. Our patrol season and competition season commences with the September / October school holidays, and concludes the first weekend in May. We train our members to become valuable Life Savers who patrol our beach, teaching techniques from surf swimming through to vital life saving and resuscitation skills. During patrol season, Nippers activities are conducted at the beach each Sunday morning from 7.45am.
