Description

UPDATE 20-Aug-22 - An easy find just off the Eyre Highway about 3.5 Km West of Border Village.

Goldenwattle  mistakenly took this cache from Domblegabby Tank Rest Area. He found another hiding spot for it about 3.5 Km West of Border Village.

Due to the temporary nature of pens and pencils in my geocaches
BRING YOUR OWN WRITING IMPLEMENT!!!

I wandered by on day 179 of a 6 month trip Wandering Australia, and pulled off the road at Domblegabby Tank Rest Area to camp for the night AND to place a cache.

We chose the Westernmost spot in the camping area, which kept us well away from the smell of the toilet if the wind dropped, and also allowed me to use the cover of the geoChallenger and caravan to venture out to my chosen spot to place the cache. GZ is  was 170 metres due West of the spot we camped at.

I've placed this and several other caches along the Eyre Highway to encourage cachers to take regular breaks from the monotonous driving. At this spot you can camp for the night or just take a driver reviver break. Facilities include drop toilet, water, shade, picnic tables and rubbish bins.   m

The cache is a 900 ml clear Decor container inside a grey plastic bag. Initial contents are were First and Second To Find cards, finders cards, fly/mosquito head net, 5 ring key ring with blue LED light, Australia key ring, emu badge, whale, pig, log book, pen, pencil & sharpener.

When trading items please consider trading up or trading even and leaving items that you would want to find, and please don't take the pen, pencils or sharpener. If you can't trade up or trade even I don't mind seeing TNLNSL in the log. Also please don't put the pen or pencils in the log book bag, it tends to destroy the watertight integrity.

Swaggies are not tradeable items. Please feel free to take them without making a trade, but please leave a note in the logbook and your online log, and do log them online. Grounspeak Trackables (geocoins and travel bugs) can NOT be logged into this cache, or any other GCA cache. Please don't drop any Grounspeak Trackables in this cache, and if you find any in this cache please remove them and log a "Grab it from somewhere else" log for the trackable.

Please be careful to replace the cache so that it is sheltered from the sun, and that the rocks are not resting on the container.

After spending a few days in Gawler it was time for to drive my mums (well my car now) from Gawler back to Perth. This was day three travelling from Border Village to Norseman on a 5 day 3,100km adventure. It was bleak and cold morning and stayed overcast much of the day. Not as many sights today as there was on day 2.
And there are hundreds of signs saying do not drive tired so geocaching helped with that.
The day turned eventful after gashing my leg at a cache, putting a tiny hole in my font tyre returning from Madura Cave then at Norseman the motel i had booked with did not have me on their list, so managed to get a room at the pub. They do say they come in threes.....
This cache was a very quick find. Thanks for the cache Wandering Aus ClappingClan Minotaur

I found another hiding spot for your cache. I dropped it at S31° 39.317' E128° 58.026' It's still in WA. Hint is, 'Under branch of tree, hidden under rocks, wood and bark, not far from the road'. I left it in a new sealed plastic bag.

So sorry, but I now have your cache. Someone placed a movable GA5588 in your cache and hid your cache from viewers. Wondered why no finds since 2018; well that's the reason. Your cache in effect ceased to exist, as the moveable covered yours on the map. The result is, that I grabbed what I thought was the moveable, but was your cache with the moveable inside it. I can't go back and return it, so the best I can do is place it somewhere else and give you the new coordinates. So sorry, but I had no idea your cache was there. I feel guilty about this, but the person who should feel even worse, is the person who placed a moveable in your cache and hid yours from view. You know they even used your exact coordinates!!!
Your cache is in good condition.

Walked to GZ from the tanks but it probably would have been slightly shorter to come in from the highway.
This one was well protected in its plastic bag and in excellent condition considering it is over 44 weeks since it was last found.
Thanks.

I was wandering west today.
A stop at Domblegabby Tank was in order.
A sign indicated that I might purloin some water to top up me supply Razz

A stop at Mundrabilla tanks, five days ago had rewarded me with plenty of palatable, clear rainwater Cool
Alas, Domblegabby has succumbed to vandalism and the supply of water is just not there Sad
Mundrabilla Tanks lie a goodly 800 metres off the road.
Domblegabby are right next to the highway and vandalism is rife Mad

So I wandered off to find the cache instead.
Maybe that would quench me thirst ... for caches at least Very Happy
It did and I soon found the prize.
Obviously not found for a long time !!
I kicked the bugs out and carefully unwrapped the black plastic to find ...
... a cache in really good nick !!
Hey it looks like it was hidden only last week Dancing

Long time between finds though !!

On our trip Around Australia and firstly aiming for Murray Bridge in SA for the Mega over Easter. Time has been against until now. Razz We finally feel like we are making some positive headway to our objective.

With the caravan hitched and the cat getting grumpy this was a quick stop for us today.

Pleased to make 2 smilies here in the same campsite for 1 stop. Few peeps already camped up when we stopped at 12noon.

Sorry for the late log.

A nice easy find in a discreet area near a very popular campsite. The cache is in good condition and what appears to be a geotrail is easy to follow.....surprising considering this cache is not found very often.
While at the cache we picked up a nearby rock to take with us to a nearby cache called 'Let's Build Little Egypt'

Many thank for the hide WanderingAus

Have stopped here often so we were glad to pick up a cache this time on the way home westwards. Followed the well defined geotrail meandering through the prickly bushes to a cache in good condition. It is far enough away from the camp area so that no muggle would pay any attention. That's a good thing because it was loaded with muggles today. TNLN TFTC

Heading west for Christmas, we briefly stopped here to grab a cache, and change drivers. Cache was easily found, and we hit the road again.

Unfortunately, just a few minutes down the road we encountered some difficulties, with our 4x4 deciding it could no longer take the 43 degree heat, and illuminating its Check Engine Light and going into limp mode. Next was the excellent chore of crawling back to Caiguna, without airconditioning to call for a tow truck. Sad

WanderingAus wandered by with the WanderingMrs (aka SWMBO) on day 144 of our annual Climatic Refugee trip. The WanderingMrs had determined through the wonders of the Information Superhighway that there was over a week of line dancing at the Wentworth Services Club, so after a couple of cold, wet and windy days in Horsham, and a night in Ouyen, we made our way to Curlwaa and booked in for five nights.

Once the line dancing competition was over the WanderingMrs was ready to head for home. After a night in Waikiri and a night in Jamestown we headed for Port Augusta via a roundabout way, and after three nights in Port Augusta we were finally on the last almost straight leg of our trip. We bush-camped at the Old Perlubie School campsite overnight, then by 10 AM the next day had booked into the caravan park in Ceduna for the night.

We pulled into the camping area at Domblegabby Tank on our second-last night, and after setting up the caravan and having a cup of tea, I walked over to check my cache.

Once again all was good, the cache has survived yet another year in this harsh environment.

Another much appreciated break in our journey. This time there were some muggles having lunch in the shelter, so we set up on the table nearby in the semi shade to have our lunch as well. While there another muggle came round to empty all the bins in the area, as well as picking up much other litter - in the heat of the day - around 45 - accompanied by zillions of flies... rather him than me!
Found cache easily, at sufficient distance from prying eyes not to worry. TNLN. Thanks for the hunt, WanderingAus.
