Description

** You can log an attendance at any time during the day of Saturday 4th April, and attach a "happy memory" of Summer **

Event: Saturday 4th April **EVENT IS A VIRTUAL EVENT & NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES** We are encouraged to stay at home, and the only events are to be Virtual events, so our excuse for an event is to say "goodbye" to Daylight Savings. It has been a difficult few months with Bushfires and floods, and now the Coronavirus Pandemic, but hopefully in the past 6 months of Daylight Savings there were a few good memories!

I would normally be in Sydney at this time but the virus has changed everybodies plans but hopefully we will all stay healthy and stay at home as much as possible. I was a part of a group of Geelong cachers who spent 6 days in Loxton in early March where we completed the "On Your Bike Series" and the 35 fish geoart group and all up finished with 292 finds so happy times.
OK we have now entered April and a change of time where I must say it did not matter that much if you did not change your clocks as we were not going far.
Thanks Thomo31 for organising this cache for all the folk who are staying at home and all facing an enemy who is so small and sneaky after all our problems with bushfires and then floods.
You never know what is around the corner.
Thanks thomo31 for placing this cache. Clapping

I hate daylight savings with a deadly loathing.
I am a morning person. It is dreadful when they take my hour away from me in the morning and give it back to me in the evening when I am too knackered to have the energy to do anything.
But the summer was good. Before the dreaded Coronavirus concern we went out geocaching nearly every weekend.
Thank you for this virtual event Thomo31

Had a lot of happy moments, however they all included my sister sue. Smile

Thanks for hosting an event that I can "attend" while I am at home. We even started the fire today as it seemed to get cold all of a sudden - must be because it is the end of daylight saving. At least tomorrow morning it will be lighter when I go for a walk at 6am and I wont need my head torch. I attached a photo of Launceston Parkrun which unfortunately is one of the events that have been cancelled until this epidemic has passed. TFTE Thomo31

Thanks for setting up this virtual event ... it's great to be able to get a geocaching fix while stuck at home during this period of crisis.

This has been one strange summer ... the fires and then enough rain to give our rural areas some hope, and now this! All our plans for 2020 have either already gone up in smoke or we are expecting them to ... we are supposed to be in Port Douglas at the moment and a trip to the USA in August now looks very shaky. I was looking forward to completing my Jasmer and collecting 5 new cache types that are impossible to get here on that trip ... but sometimes things don't work out as you'd like.

My summer photo is one of a sunrise at Stockton Beach near Newcastle, where we managed to get away to for a few days just before this whole pandemic thing started.

Thanks for the virtual event. During the period of daylight savings here in southern Tasmania it has been very dry. We did get some rain late February and now again late March and early April. It certainly is needed and helped fill the tanks. Mrs W celebrated a milestone birthday but celebrated at home due to the health crisis. We also managed to get a few dragonZone trophies including leap year during the six months. The next few months will be very quiet. TFTV

Summer started as winter left off, in drought. And the only reason we mention it, being not a happy memory, is because of the good rain that started in January. So rain became a wondrous highlight of Summer 2020. Others include
. The roadtrip and attending the StArnaud Mega
. Christmas catch up with rellies
. A 3rd birthday (and if it's well known kids enjoy a bit of sugar, you probably shouldn't see me at a party when we normally live on a diabetes diet) Dancing
. A GC Australia Day Event at Port Macquarie

I don't think the fact I had a birthday and am now eligible for free flu shots is really a highlight so I won't include that. Confused
Thanks for another great idea for a smilie thomo31.

Quite a busy daylight savings period, probably the highlight was back in October and November getting my parents' house empty and sold now they are in a retirement village (luckily a very good one). Even then the fires were getting underway as I drove up and back from the north coast. The caching highlights were just a couple of nice days around Sydney CBD and doing my first lab cache. Not the best ever summer but it was a busy time for a news junkie! Thanks thomo31.

My happy memory of summer was our trip to Tamworth for the line dancing competition and country music festival. despite the bad stuff that happened at the competition the holiday and geocaching with my daughter was amazing.

Great idea Thomo31!

We went to Tassie over the summer holidays - it was a great way to have some quality family time. Our dogs endured being dressed up for their dog school family fun day. I hosted my first events - a CITO and a catchup.

Thanks for the happy summer memories Smile

Very Happy Many things have happened over the past 'Daylight Saving' period. All starting with me leading at a youth camp during the October school holidays. This was a lot of fun and it was great to see everyone again and meet some new people. Next I had many Geocaching adventures plus watching a few new movies. Two of my more favorite ones, out of all the movies I saw, was: Star Wars 9 and Sonic. I attended many different events which includes Geocaching, church (both Weekly and Christmas events), a Wedding and various different types of parties (seasonal, fair-well and birthdays). I visited many locations that I would not been to if it wasn't geocaching and revisiting places I haven't been to in quite some time. Some of these places includes: Dog on the TuckerBox, Ettamogah Pub, The Henty Man, the World Peace Bell, Koorawatha Falls, many places for bushwalking in ACT/NSW, enjoying bike rides (including to collect the ACT bike ride WIG around the lake) and the Leeton Fivebough Wetlands. All these things made for a great 'Daylight Saving' period and hope that the next one will be just as great. Very Happy TFTE

P.S. My photo's will be uploaded after my phone has been fixed. (Hopefully by Wednesday)

We had a few happier highlights over the Daylight Saving Summer time.
The main one was MrT receiving his SES 35 year Service award from the head of NSW SES.
A Trip to StArnaud for the MEGA with my sister teamashy and Geoniece. Then the following week exploring the Echuca area with them birdwatching and caching.
This year MusoSon and TheUnicorn moved back to the Blue Mountains, so great to have them in the area.
And recently ClimbingSon published his ScienceFiction Novel. We always knew he could do it.
So its great to reflect on the good times in these difficult times

Love Summer time and daylight savings. A couple of happy memories (with photos attached) this year were:

Grandsons 2nd Birthday,
Relaxing at friends farm,
Friendly wildlife (you'll like these ones),
GCA History cache run through Temora NSW, and
Christmas Day.

Thanks Thomo31....cool locationless

We had a rather busy past 6 months with work, study and moving house. However, my favourite memory would have to be the day that my better-half MusoSon played the part of Santa Paws for the rescue that we fostered-then-adopted our GeoDogBertrum from. We spent the day playing with a lot of doggos, raising funds for the rescue and taking a lot of photos! We even had a surprise visit from the author of this cache Thomo31!

One of my best memories of daylight saving (I say one of them as there were many great memories!) was my long 30km walk from Wentworth Falls station to McMahons Lookout. Lucky for me I did not have to do the 30km walk back as I had managed to convince thomo31 to come and pick me up from the lookout!
This was of course just before the devastating bushfires when the lake was at its lowest ebb for many years, would love to go back now to check out the fire damage and see the lake at full level.

The Daylight Saving period from October 2019 to April 2020 had many great memories. Mr y'stassie celebrated his 70th Birthday and was really elated when family arrived for a surprise birthday party in early February. Our eldest son and our two grand-daughters made a surprise visit from Adelaide for the weekend. Another son arrived from Hobart with his partner and our two recently integrated grand-children. Our youngest daughter lives near us and was a main organiser of the event. Our older daughter could not make it as she was working for the Australian Antarctic Division at Casey Station in Antarctica. We had a number of phone calls over the weekend on on the actual birthday she posted a "Happy Birthday Dad" on the Casey sign board which is always in full view of the Casey Webcam (photo included in the Gallery).

Lost of great memories from the Daylight saving period this year. Probably the best shared memory for both Mr & Mrs y'stassie was a trip on the Gordon River. We had often said that we would go "someday" but the 70th milestone gave us the incentive (along with a recently placed GC cache and many GCA virtual caches on Sarah Island in Macquarie Harbour). We had a great three days spending one day on the Gordon River Cruise and part of another on Ocean Beach. Although the weather was misty and overcast, we have great memories of the reflections from the river, our visit to the barbaric Sarah island and sliding down a monster sand dune at Ocean Beach. Some photos of these events have also been added to the Gallery. As there are no other logs, we will claim FTF at 09:30.

Thanks thomo31 for the chance to reflect as we stay at home quarantined following our trip to the mainland. 6 more days quarantine to go. Then we can go out but only for essential things and then only briefly.
