Description

A nice spot to stop on the Hume Hwy and enjoy the view.

This cache container has had an interesting history.

Originally it was placed in Royal National Park and was collected by a ranger. The owner is now living in the US, so we collected it on his behalf. It was then rebirthed in the Blue Mountains on what we thought was crown land. So third time a charm for this cache.

The cache sits next to a lookout above the tiny town of Jugioing and the Murrumbidgee River.

Before the mid-1990's, motorists had to travel through this 'quiet' town. Often I would be stuck behind a truck attempting to overtake another truck up this hill heading southbond) travelling no more than 20 km/h. Those were the days.

Today it is a much quieter town. It's a nice spot to stop if you're tired of Maccas and other chain rest stops.

BTW - Cricketer and commentator Richie Benaud first went to school here.

I was on my way bak home from the ACT.

What better way than to check out some of the local towns.

Jugiong was thriving today.

The cache was a quick find.

Sad to say the sign is long gone.

A quick find here with the hint. Even though it was 37 degrees today, there was a couple sitting at the lookout having a picnic lunch.

An overnight stop on my way to Nariel Creek near Corryong. A lovely quick stop before a longer drive. The paper was dry but stuck together, signed on the back.

Out with Sophoutloud on the way home from Kozi and grabbing a few caches and trigs as we go, hopefully will be able to claim a few more regions. Quick easy find nice to have a reason to slow down and enjoy these country towns rather than just blasting through on the highway. Thanks

I love this little town and left a history cache in the town for others to enjoy this place too.
Thanks for bringing us here again. We stopped in Jugiong overnight on our way to the Mega.

Found on our March trip around the Riverina district cleaning up our unfound list.
A warm Autumn day for a drive around while camped nearby. Wink
We have driven past this one too many times over the years it has been here. Wink
Finally it was time we ticked it off the list.
And it was great to find another of The Spindoctors old caches. Wink
Thanks for the cache,
Roostaman

Found after attending a GC event in Jugiong. There is no lid to the cache anymore.

16-Feb-19
With a busy Sunday ahead of me, I decided on having some fun by attending the Caching event at Jugiong and collecting some caches that have been on the to-do-list for quite some time. Big Grin I started my day by doing a detour to collect the caches in the middle of nowhere and then I drove around Jugiong collecting the other ones. I then attended the event and headed home via Cootamundra to collect a newish cache over there to get it off my to-do-list. TB visit on all found caches and as much maintenance was done as possible. I would like to thank all CO’s for the caches I found and for the fun it brought me today. TFTC’s Big Grin
Today's Totals:
1 Event Smile
10 GC Finds Smile
1 GCA Find Smile
1 DNF Sad

This was the last cache I found before heading to the event. I found something that may have been the cache. It was a container with a piece of paper in it. It had no lid on it. After speaking to people at the event, I had discovered the cache and we agreed that it needed a new one. We took a look at the caching supplies and found something suitable and we placed that there to replace the lidless container. TFTC and for the bringing me here to see the view. Big Grin

GrimRaider and I pulled off at this lovely lookout on the way out of town today after picking up a nice cache on the river. One more cache I said, and it would be good to stop for a view over the town. Lovely spot which we will remember next time we come through as a great spot for lunch, coffee or a short stretch of the legs. Cache found in good condition. Cool to pick up a Spindoctors cache too Smile TFTC

What beautiful countryside around here. Such a pleasant drive.
Thanks to great coords this was a quick find. This cache might come in very handy for a claim in the summer games. Very Happy
Cache and contents are in good condition.
Thanks The Spindoctors.

A nice easy find on my journey south.

All in very good condition.

We are camped down in the town rather than arriving home today. Purposely didn't cache along the way today as it is often difficult to pull off the highway with a big van. Plus then I could use that as leverage to get Pa to unhitch so I could go caching after lunch.
Every time we drive this way we have the van on and Pa isn't inclined to stop, so today I had the chance to grab this fellow. How beautiful he is, as is the view. Thanks for placing this cache for us to find. Stamped log.

16-Jul-17
Nice easy one but the road wasn't as quiet as I thought it would be. had to dosge muggles at the lookout. some sort of racemeet on today as could hear the announcer but not the details. Not a parking spot to be had in Jugiong - must come back and visit. also dropped off 2 x gca moveables on top of shelter but cannot find them on phone app so will log when I get home and onto the PC. TFTC : )

17-Apr-16
I could have sworn that I logged this cache. I logged the nearby GC cache on this date. I'm not even sure that this isn't one of the broken caches that I replaced on my trip. Oh well, logging now. TFTC The Spindoctors.

26-Mar-16
The cache container is well beyond it's used-by date, and needs something new to continue to function.

21-Mar-16
A nice quick find on a cache that seems to be very far between finds. Unfortunately, the container is totally cactus, and urgently needs replacing. Nice views over the surrounding district.

Thanks The Spindoctors.

#GA524 - 15:05; Headed south for a weekend of caching with fitzy_1965 and Sol de lune and we took a detour through Jugiong to grab a couple of caches. The others already had this one, but kindly pulled over for me to make the find on this one. The top of the cache container is cracked and it was full of water. Fortunately the logbook was dry. Sdl emptied the water out of the cache and it was replaced well into it's hiding spot and hopefully out of the weather. TFTC The Spindoctors Very HappyClan Cerberus

the lid was broken on this one but thank you

23-Feb-15
A small diversion with Tanso while in the area. A quick find and, yes, the container lid is a little damaged, but contents are fine.
Yes I can remember the 4 cylinder Dato struggling up this hill back in the day!

01-Jun-14
Dropped by on a drizzling Sunday afternoon. A quick find, though managed to damage my leg climbing over a guard rail on the way out, so had to head into Jugiong for some restorative coffee and cake (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!).

Cache lid is cracked and has a hole, though staying dry in it's hidey hole.
TNLNSL, thanks for the cache Spindoctors.
best wishes,
Wal

Found on a road trip to Wagga with Agent Basil and Sol de Lune. The first of the trip for me! A nice quick stop and we were on our way... thanks!

02-Dec-13
The 3 Amigos aka WABS aka Wing6Rider, Agent Basil and Sol de lune were on their way to Wagga to dabble in Powertrails in the heat. Jugiong was the first stop to deal with the pesky micro at the steam tractor that had laughed at me for many years. After success there, Sol mentioned this one which he had previously found. I too remember the challenge of overtaking as many semis as possible on this hill pre duplication days. Log signed we were on our way after admiring the views.

This log marks the 109th GCA smiley to be recorded in the stats of WazzaAndWenches.

The Wenchette is away on school camp so Waz and the Wench have taken off for Canberra and the coast for a few days.

After taking a slow drive through Jugiong and failing to find the cache on the 'Bidgee we had success at this one. A simple find with a view.

Thanks The Spin Doctors

WanderingAus wandered by on day 117 of our annual Climatic Refugee trip, making our way from Darwin towards Perth via Mount Isa, Townsville, Emerald, Goondiwindi, Gunnedah, Young, Yass and Wentworth.

After two nights at the Yass Caravan Park and a visit to the Australian War Memorial we headed for Albury to meet up with one of the WanderingMrs's brothers, his wife and their two grandchildren. On the way there we visited Jugiong to take advantage of the facilities and hunt a Munzee, and then when we reached the lookout I pulled over to let the WanderingMrs hunt another Munzee, and while we were there I made a fairly quick and easy GAFF 0 find of this cache.

My find No 5,109, LCC, TNLNSL.

It was a superb winter's day and the views down into the valley were really great. It made us wonder what the views would be like in autumn when the poplar tree leaves had all changed colour. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find. TFTC

09-Jun-12
Huh! I didn't even realise this was a GCA cache until I was logging them all. Luckily I was trawling inside my field notes file otherwise I would have missed it!

There was a muggle at the lookout, but he was too interested in his phone conversation to worry about me.

Picked up on an icon hunt with a power trail to follow!

Thanks D

Heading to Wagga Wagga for some caching and trig hunting, this was a welcome stop with good views. Thanks.

12-Apr-12
We stopped here after lunching at Jugiong. Cache is fine despite having a cracked lid. Mrs B took a Macca's toy and left a sparkly metal pen.

30th of 34 on our OZ MEGA 2012 trip. After having lunch in town, we drove up to this one. A pretty easy find after a bit of looking. A very nice overview. Interesting history for just 1 container! TNLN. Thanks The Spindoctors! Smile

08-Apr-12
We stopped by our cache on the way home from the Mega Event, but only after a break in Jugiong to consumer one of the best chocolate brownies in the country and a great cup of coffee.

Container is still doing well, although there is a slight crack in the lid. Love this stop on the Hume Hwy. Please stop into the town below.

The 2nd GCA cache for the day Very Happy , a very nice view here today Razz , traded up in the swaps department, thanks for the stretch & view Dancing .

Headed down to Cootamundra for an event today and dropped by on the way home to grab this one. I remember the old road very well. Always good to come back into town and miss the freeway every so often.

Thanks for the cache, the view and the history on the cache container.

Found on the return trip to Adelaide from Sydney. A great view from up here. Left a pathtag. SL. TFTC.

Day 359 of non-stop caching.

08-Dec-10
Great views of the flooded areas below. An easy find and a decent sized container after all the micros we have been looking for over here. Only drawback was the smell coming from the overfull rubbish and the dumped rubbish. Thanks.

03-Dec-10
Heading down to Yaka for the Cache and camp event, stopped here to view the rising river over Jugiong some of the town already flooded, looks like the other people here are doing the same, I originally didn't spot this but my fellow cachers pointed this one out and quick find and a few pictures (upload later) and then head south.
thanks

18-Oct-10
Stopped here on our way to Cootamundra today and enjoyed the view of the river in flood. I used to remember stopping here when this was the highway. TFTC

01-Oct-10
Nice view. I remember stopping here overnight once when this was still on the original highway. I can also remember a fruit truck losing its brakes down the hill - oops, fruit salad anyone?!

14-Sep-10
133. Confidently waked over and plucked the cache out as I'd previously found it. Even showed where my name was in the log book. Got to the hotel and discovered that I had't logged it in March - so here it is now.

TFTC and the dugong.

14-Sep-10
First cache of the day on a long drive from the ACT to the Barossa. An early morning start and early light here at Jugiong and still foggy, so not much of an overview for us. The day followed with reasonably steady rain across the Hay Plain - never seen it so green or the Murrumbidgee so high and the red gums finally getting a drink. Thanks Spindoctors.

12-Sep-10
What a great location with some stunning views.

06-Sep-10
Fantastic views from here, and I dont think Ive ever seen this area looking so green. A great place to stop and enjoy a coffee, thanks very much Spindoctors for the view and cache.

The hint made this an easy find (2nd time around!). Yes, coords were out, but it looks like they've been fixed! Great view from here!

06-Apr-10
After attempting this on the way up we found the right path and made it an easy find. Thanks for the cache.

06-Apr-10
I had the old coordinates but the hint helped me to find the cache. Nice views out over Jugiong and the Murrumbidgee. TFTC Spindoctors

05-Apr-10
Like others before searched around where the GPS wanted me to no avail. Checked the hint and there it was. So the coords I got at GZ with claimed 4 metre accuracy are above. No swaps, thanks Spindoctors.

02-Apr-10
We dropped by on the way to Wagga Wagga to check on its state - pleased to see it was OK, albeit surrounded by 'dead' rockmelons.

Surprised our coords were out, but we agree with recent finders. They have since been updated.

01-Apr-10
Stopped in totally the wrong place (on the Hume!), and then shuddered with horror at the sheer multitude of massive Greenish eating spiders decorating what I thought was the GZ. These spiders are so not cool. They should, in fact, be banned. And their webs. Luckily, on our return journey from the Oz Mega, we used our brains!

01-Apr-10
Found on the way to the Mega Event. Just as well for the hint as the coords were about 40m out. Very nice views and a nice leg stretch. Thanks for the hunt.

01-Apr-10
I almost missed logging this GCA cache on the way down to Wagga for the Oz Mega event. I also found the coords were 47m out, but the clue took us to the cache immediately.
My alternate coords were pretty close to Richary's.
TFTC.

01-Apr-10
Our GZ was quite out (about 40m) but it wasn't a problem due to the hint. Lovely views from here. TFTH

26-Jan-10
Found during our 2010 Wagga to Wollongong Caching tour. The tour was conducted over 5 days taking in the various sites and towns situated between these two cities.

Was looking in all the wrong places as my GPS had me 43 metres somewhere else. Read the hint and found the cache. TFTC.

Found 8:30am, driven past here and never noticed this lookout. Stunning views this-morning over Jugiong. Exchanged swaps. Thanks.

05-Oct-09
The gps has us on the yellow line down the middle of the old highway for some reason!!! However, the clue pointed to the correct spot to search and we were soon sitting and admiring the apple blossom while we signed the log. And the view of course!

01-Aug-09
Nice views from up here. Spent many a summer day down in that river

01-Aug-09
A good easy find on the way to Gundagai great view wet cold and windy but worth the stop

31-Jul-09
FTF.Found by baby&Mrs gopher at 1620 on the way to the Geocaching NSW 2009 AGM.Had to stop for this cache as like for so many the area was very familiar. In the early 1980's baby used to visit here for different reasons as this was the place so many travellers stopped and required help with their health.Chest Pains, Lacerations, Burns from exploding gas bottles and fuel containers, and other minor and sundry ailments. Then most times it was a quick run to Gundagai trying to negotiate at night and by day some very heavy traffic. The cache was there and easy to find so we signed the log and after a look from the elevated ground continued ever eastwards.Tnx The Spindoctors.
