Description
For all those ramshackle, rundown and abandoned buildings out there.
We have all seen them, ramshackle rundown and abandoned buildings out in the countryside. Farmhouses that no longer house farmers, sheds that no longer shed water, buildings that could no longer be called built. There are thousands of ex buildings and ruins throughout Australia that at one stage enjoyed a useful life, but now sit decaying into the ground.
Take and upload a photo of your find, and give a brief description if you can.

Once a 1940s style auto garage, Monty’s Garage Vintage Car Museum now houses large collection of over 70 restored vintage cars and trucks, 15 of which are displayed daily. Admire the cars on display or browse through the huge collection of auto memorabilia and a large range of vintage spare parts and equipment or watch the action in the workshop where an old car or truck will be undergoing a transformation.
Unfortunatly this museum is now closed and only the front can now be viewed.

Found this old rundown house on a farm i visited recently. Hasn’t been used for many years.
I was driving through northern Tasmania and I found what qualifies for “Ramshackle and rundown” but in my opinion it’s also a gem. It’s something I would love to have and restore or rebuild in the same old style. Thanks for the cache

The ramshackle building in my photo is a house which has been in a bad state of repair for many years. The house was subject to flooding six months ago. Everything is still inside the building muddy and ruined. The building will be demolished. Thanks for the cache Bundyrumandcoke
S41 14.243 E147 12.925 APPLE PACKING SHED
When I was a kid, that wasn't the day before yesterday, this apple packing shed was a going concern and the land behind was a flourishing apple orchard. My father knew the orchard owner so every year we would go and pick our own apples from the orchard. I think the European Common Market killed this orchard as there is no evidence of it except for this remaining packing shed.

It’d be great if there was some more interesting historical information on these.

We were brought here by a cache T’was Once Loved and it was quite obvious this house had once been cared for.

There is even still a chair out the front as if inviting us to come in for a cuppa and a chat.

Hello Bundyrumandcoke thanks for the cache.
I was luck enough to be able to fly over to Tasman Island I spotted what is left of the winch shed that is at the top of the Haulage (a cable trolley system once used to bring supplies up vertical cliffs 300mt from sea level) at a spot called “The Whim”

Found this magnificent in decay Ramshackle and rundown bowser in Patchewollok this morning while visiting the solo and a couple of Virtual in the town.
Next time we visit, it will be after 3:00 pm when the pub opens so we can get a coffee - or something stronger - and hopefully see a more lively side of the town.

We are overseas on a cruise so I have to be content with Locationless for Geocaching Australia finds. On the islands of the Pacific there are lots of abandoned buildings which I am sometimes unsure whether they have surcummed to the elements or not been fully constructed. This building looked like a shop on Mare in Vanuatu
We have driven past this rundown farmhouse many times at Morwincha Queensland. Just love this pic of times gone by.. TFTC

I love finding these old chimneys - as an archaeologist it just makes my fingers twitch wondering what will be in the ground! Would have loved to have taken a closer look at this one but think it was private property so wasn't game to hop the fence. Glad that I can log it in the States of the Nation game as a locationless. I've had a list of the locationless caches in my phone just in case we happened upon any in time for the Summer Scavenger Series.
This one actually made me stop today and look at a place I've driven past thousands of times and never really knew about. This is a paddock in amongst suburbia in Yellalonga Park in Perth. The park runs through a large number of suburbs in the north metro area past lakes and historically relevant areas. This particular paddock is called Perry's Paddock (after Jack Perry who bred racehorses here at the start of the 20th century). The paddock was a sporting event for horse races and picnic days and likely large sports like cricket.
Thanks for making me take the time to stop and research this area properly. I hope to visit the nearby Cockman House during open hours at some point in the future.

We discovered this sad old hall yesterday, whilst looking for a cache nearby of the same name.
I wonder how many old time dances and community functions were held here in its heyday.
It's most unlikely that this one will be restored, but in other places we've visited over the last couple of days, where small towns have renovated or rebuilt new halls, their town's seem to be flourishing.
Thanks for this Locationless cache. Two reasons to stop and stretch our legs here.

This is certainly an ex-something. We'd pulled off the road to take some photos of cane bins - the other half of the team is writing an article about the history of cane movements around the Tweed, he wanted the photo of the 'modern' way of transporting cane as opposed to the barges, and tramway wagons of the past. As we drove away I spotted this pile of tin, pallings, and stumps. So I grabbed a photo. Interestingly when I got home and checked against Google Earth, there was nothing there. Its as if this little shed had just been dumped there. Its got me thinking hmmmmn. I wonder what is going on here.

Butchers - Wowan, QLD
A barely legible sign declares that this building was once a butchery. The building is in a very poor state of repair with the verandah ready to collapse. On the left hand side can be seen the business is on Don Street & can make out the word - Butchers but not the proprietor's name. On the right hand side can be seen the words Fresh Meat Daily, a registration & phone number. Automatic Telephone Dialing was introduced to Australia in 1976 so the business closed before then.

South Fremantle Power Station
Casting an imposing shadow over C.Y. O'Connor beach is a decaying monument to our past and a stunning showcase of brutalist architecture. Closed in 1985, the South Fremantle Power Station now resembles a decrepit shell of its former glory, coated in a mosaic of urban art.
The abandoned South Fremantle Power Station in North Coogee was opened in 1951 after five years of construction to power a growing Perth and Fremantle metropolis. Employing over 250 people at its peak, the station was eventually closed after advances in technology (ironically at the now controversial Muja plant) deemed it uneconomical.

Well off the beaten track at the junction of a couple of dirt roads in the Murray Mallee region of SA you will find the ramshackle and very quaint Claypans Hall. Built in 1906, and hardly touched since. Thanks Bundyrumandcoke for organising this locationless cache.
While attending the Alice Springs Experience event over Easter in Alice Springs we went out to do a cache at Albert Namatjira's house and it was such a disappointment. An old building on my families property in Nthn NSW. this house started off its life about 1km down the road and was moved here when i was a young kid 30 years ago on the back of a trailer pulled by a Tractor. It ended up being a storage shed and shelter for dogs who used to life under it. The floor is now mostly missing and we sold some of the wall to someone chasing old timber. Somehow it is still standing on its wooden stilts but for how long
Isn't it ironic that after fire burns a house down, the only thing left standing is the fireplace and chimney.

Hello Bundyrumandcoke thanks for the cache.
I was at Storeys Creek on the weekend and saw this old building so took a photo of it.
The Storys Creek Tin Mining Co was formed in 1882, the area being a remote miners’ camp – just a collection of simple huts and the mine plant – until 1925, when new houses for the staff, as well as a number of new huts for the workers, were also built.
The town of Rossarden was built to house the workers at the ‘Aberfoyle Tin No Liability’ mine, which started producing tin in September 1931. The township of Rossarden was built a mile from the mine site, in the mid 1930s.
By the early 1970s, Aberfoyle had control of both mines but a dramatic drop in metal prices in 1972 saw production drop at Storys Creek, all support facilities, administration and milling being provided at Rossarden. Forestwood Holdings bought the mine from Aberfoyle in April 1981, then closed all operations in February 1982. By October 1982 the town’s population had dropped from over 500 when the mine was going, to approximately 90.
Today Rossarden has around 60 residents. Storys Creek has only one permanent family, plus the Riverside High School outdoor centre, which has been operating since 1975.
Both towns offer striking mountain views of Ben Lomond. There are also wild deer to be seen in Rossarden, as well as many native animals and birds, and one can sometimes watch wedge-tail eagles soaring above the town.

Used to drive past this old house every day when we lived near here. It's gradually getting more and more rundown. Very sad! Someone must have loved it once upon a time.
WanderingAus wandered by with the WanderingMrs (aka SWMBO) on day 110 of our annual Climatic Refugee trip, after 11 weeks in Darwin and a couple of weeks meandering across and down we were finally heading out of Queensland into New South Wales.
As GC16GFK Barringun Border Ghost Town by sacada loomed on the horizon (well, on the TomTom actually) I noticed the entire parking bay on the West side of the road as well as almost all of the East side of the road (which didn't look like a parking bay) were full of muggle vehicles and muggles all enjoying their cuppas and gas-bagging. I decided we should continue on into Barringun, have morning tea, then return to hunt down the cache.
We continued on into the "Ghost Town" of Barringun to use the facilities and have some morning tea, and I spotted a windmill in the middle of the parking area at the Bush Tucker Inn, an opportunity for a find of GA1095 Windmills - So Many about in so many styles by Team GraMon.
After taking a photo of the windmill I discovered that "the facilities" were only for the use of guests at The Bush Tucker Inn, so we returned to the highway and parked opposite the (still operating) pub. While there I noticed this Ramshackle and Rundown Shed just off the highway.
After morning tea we returned to the border and we had the parking bay to ourselves, and I walked over and made a very quick and easy GAFF 0 find thanks to a very colourful telltale.

WanderingAus wandered by with the WanderingMrs (aka SWMBO) on day 107 of our annual Climatic Refugee trip. It was our last day in the caravan park at Charleville, and the WanderingMrs mentioned to the manager that we had visited Morven and seen the hut made from flattened out kerosene tins near the museum there. These huts were a common sight during the years of the great depression. The manager then told the WanderingMrs how to get to a large shed made from flattened out 44 gallon drums (now known as 200 litre drums). We drove out the back gate of the caravan park, then followed a track across a couple of paddocks and finally came across the ramshackle old shed. Of course any dwelling back in those days had an outside dunny, and this Ramshackle and Rundown Dunny wasn't far away.
