Description

At the entry point to Charleville

We found Charleville to be a wonderful place to stop and spend some time.

Spent some time at the Cosmos centre and marvelled at the stars and planets through the telescopes plus all the other wonders and displays there.

As a tourist attraction it was excellent and a great addition to the town.

Apparently you can get up close with a Bilby in the town as well, see the brochures at the tourist info centre.

Hope you find Charleville as interesting as we did.

We hadn't realised that this cache was one of the very early GCA hides until we found it. As Mrs y'stassie lifted thre container from its hide she realised it was very, very heavy. When opened the container was found to be almost full of dirty, smelly water. The contents were sodden and the log unusable. We emptied out the water, used several thick, thirsty tissues to dry out the container then left a replacement log in a ziploc bag.

Thanks for this cache Delicadriver. It is a privilege to be able to help maintain an older cache and thus keep it in the game for a little longer.

Our last GCA cache in Charleville so today we made a special trip for it. When we got there we realise we've been past it numerous times. TFTC delicadriver.

Found while visiting Charleville and its surrounds. This bilby certainly quite famous out here!

Found after 12 months of no love. Container in good condition but log soaked. Container dried, log replaced and put more securely to prevent more water getting in.

Cache found easily in the expected area.
But the container was broken and beyond repair. Luckily, Imbunda also stopped to see what I was doing and she provided a new container.

TFTC,
Surprised that while the lid is broken, everything is dry and in good condition.

In Charleville for a few days and with only 3 caches to find we made sure to look this one up. GPS was going crazy and tried to take us 50mts across the railway line before deciding to turn back to a more likely GZ.

Cache in good order.

Having just completed the WWII Tour, which has to be a given in this town - just brilliant, we continued out here for a quick find. Left a Tb to be discovered, signed log and returned the cache to its hidey hole. Thanks for placing this cache for us to enjoy delicadriver.

Geocaching Australia (GCA) Cache Find Number 1467. Found during Day 18 of my epic 21 day visit to Alice Springs for the Red Centre Experience Event and further travels after that.

Flew into Alice Springs and met up with my fellow intrepid team members Sol de Lune, Albida33 and LuckyL10n for the start of an amazing trip throughout the Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales and eventually back to Canberra. The Red Centre Experience is the main attraction of course, but also on our agenda are a lot of GC Caches, lots of trigs, as well as plenty of GCA Trads, History and Virtual Caches (and maybe the odd beer or two ??!! Smile. Go Clan Cerberus !

Another Trad for the trip while heading south and east. We stopped here to look around and grab some caches. Lots of piccies taken. Then it was back in the car and off to the next one !

Another great location visited during our journey !

#GA1601 - 15:45; Day 26 of the Alice Mega Road Trip with Sol de lune, albida33 and fitzy_1965. Today we are headed from Barcaldine through to Charlieville with a few caching stops along the way. After stops along the way in Blackall, Tambo and Augathella, we had now reached Charlieville and collected this cache soon after our arrival. TFTC delicadriver Very HappyClan Cerberus

On the home straight from Alice with fitzy_1965, LuckyL10n and Albida33 and hit Charlieville this afternoon for our overnight stop. Grabbed this cache on the way past and found it without issue. Great to see an old GCA cache still out and about to be found. Cache is in good condition.

Thanks for the cache and reason to stop Delicadriver......

We headed into Charleville for an FTF and managed to get it. Then as we left town, we grabbed these two existing caches. I didn't realise that this one was a rare GCA cache.

It's nice to find an actual cache, rather than just a virtual. The log was a bit damp (only vaguely), so I put it in a zip-lock plastic bag. TFTC delicadriver.

Found on our "Making Memories" tour of Mainland Australia.

Caches have been few and far between up this neck of the woods so nice to find this one. Interesting to see the last visitor was also a Tasmanian.

Cache in good order TFTC

A quick find and our first GCA cache [other than locationless ones] for a long time. A bit smelly near GZ due to a roadkill nearby but even after 100's of kms with more roadkill than guide posts we still hate the smell so made this as quick a grab as possible. Thanks.

North Qld 2013. I am happy GCA allows remote caches as it allows interesting areas off the beaten track to have caches. Even if they are harder to maintain. Thanks

needs maintenance but enjoyed the hunt

Another 11 months has passed since this was last found and I think it needs more visitors to this great town. Maybe some more caches would bring the visitors. The container was open again but all dry. Fixed it up & returned it to a safer drier place than where I found it.

WanderingAus wandered by on day 105 of our annual Climatic Refugee trip with the WanderingMrs (aka SWMBO). While the WanderingMrs waited in the geoPajero I walked across the road and made a very quick and easy GAFF 0 find in the logical spot. Then I took it back to the geoPajero to do some urgent maintenance on it.

My find No 4098, LCC, TNLNSL.

The cache was quite wet, the log and swaps were ruined, the pencil was splitting, and the log book bag was full of holes. Other than that the cache was in great shape despite being unfound for the last ten months. I dried out the cache container, the splitting pencil and a car which was still useable, and put in a new log book, stash note, log book bag, 2 new pencils, a pencil sharpener, and a few swaps. The cache should be good to go for another ten months or so.

*Recommended* *Overall Experience: 3*

Found at 1540 FTF. This one has been found by a muggle and they left a nice note in the log. Container is broken. Swaps are wet. Rust on metal items. Log book very wet and mouldy. I hve replaced the container with a slightly smaller one.It is a more appropriate sized container for this location. Is still be big enough for swaps etc.t. Looks like a rock has smashed the lid and one side of your original container. The new container will be a little more robust and towards the bottom of the GZ site.
