Description
Event cache for Geocachers attending or visiting AJ2010
Many a cacher is a current or past member of Scouts Australia.
The National Jamboree is on at Cataract Scout Park in January 2010, and so where better to meet up with cachers from around the country!
The event date is for the Jamboree Visitors Day, however due to security, welfare & child protection policies in place for the Jamboree site, visitors will need to have registered before the event. As such, non-Scouting Geocachers may not be able to easily attend the event. This is the primary reason that this cache is not an official GC Event Cache, as technically it's an event in an event.
Advice on whether visitors can register on the day is being sought, as official registration closed on November 30 2009.
Event Location: published coordinates are for JNN 103.7 FM Radio Station (tune in while at the Jamboree to 103.7FM)
Event Time: The event is published for Visitors Day, however there will be a log sheet near the radio station throughout the Jamboree (4th to 14th January) so that those at the Jamboree can call past at their leisure.
An informal official gathering time will set in the next few weeks and posted on the forum below for those that want to catch up face to face with other cachers.
Note that Geocaching Venturers will be off site on Visitors Day.

Sounds like everyone had a great time at the jamboree!
Saulman1010 you rock.
Had a great time working with you.
I was a Leader with the City Tours during the day with our Scouts in Troop 336 - hope to see a similar event cache for AJ2013.
cheers The ELTHAM Mob
Martin from the Geocaching activity here - I have the log from the wall that was getting wet and muggled.
Here’s the story - Attended AJ a day early and usual no idea what I was supposed to be doing or who to report to – get thrown out of my own contingent HQ as “not ready for youâ€- bum around the rest of the day helping anyone and everyone who needed anything until I find out I was rostered to be on the City Tour in Sydney (great, seeing as I’ve only been to Sydney twice in my life and the second time was when I flew over it on a joy flight! My bad (broken) foot now decides to flare up - and they want me to stand on a street corner and help kids find their way? Found out AJ has a Geocaching activity for the Scouts and ask if I cant get reassigned. Turned out they haven’t got anyone to run the activity AND the AJ eTrex’s have been lost by the courier. Seeing as I have my set of eTrex’s in the car I get to work and set a quick 8WP Multi cache with a mystery 9th cache for the Scouts in less than 3 hours – including a separate 2WP Multi Leaders Cache. Ran the event and introduced 2500 Scouts to Geocaching. Thanks to Kent and the team at “Adventurous Activities†for welcoming me in at the last minute and letting me have a free run in setting up and running an activity.
Great to meet all you fellow Cachers AND leaders.
Will post all attendee’s when I can get a moment to myself at home.
and perhaps enter the AJ2010 “Leaders Cache†into an event cache.

Also did the leaders cache (on-site but off-website).
Still managed to meet a few cachers on the day too.
nice to meet geocachers from all over australia
will add photos soon
Hi to all those who were at the Jamboree that I didn't catch!
DCR & Socks, as you were at the Jamboree, that counts as attending the event, so happy for you to change your logs to Attend logs.
Hope to see you all back for AJ2013!

I can't say much more, other than we WERE asking for 'Partic' at the radio station, and no-one had heard of him, the sign was then sighted!
The rest is history as they say in the classiques!
I have to get one of those new Garmin though, with the camers in it!
Thanks for organising...
found with Zoratz and Lady Timelord while visiting Zoratz at the Jamboeww

Thanks for this event. Myself and Hurtle met up with a few cachers from Oz and abroad down at the Geocaching tent (great work guys).
Gave out some pathtags and TB's and chatted for a while then headed back to Troop 0404.
After having lunch with troop 422, we headed off to the radio station where we found the log conveniently situated. We must have looked the part (or was it the GPSr dangling from my belt) since Martin (aka saulman1010) came and invited us back to the official geocaching tent for a sit down and a chat. Thanks Martin.
We came back once or twice and met a couple of other cachers including Mark (aka Team Hurtle) and Scott (aka firesafe) who I had corresponded with about picking up the movable cache we dropped off at the event event. Good to meet you guys.
Thanks for organising this Partic. We would have like to say hello, but we were advised you were very busy with the radio station, It sounded great.
cheers,
Wal
Found on Future Scout Day with our 3 cubs and 4 leaders from Birralee in ACT on the way to catch up with Partic. Had a brilliant time at the camp and will be at the next Jamboree
Thanks for organising this one Partic. Great to catch up with you.
I think this is also our first GCA cache.
Still loooking for more geocachers...I'm staying in Troop 0116 so don't hesitate to come down nd say hello.
Thanks,
Camstal
PS-Will post photos when I get home!
I'll put my mobile number in the cache log if I get there first. Anyone feel free to ring me.
We would be happy to take your cache back to SA.
We must have been following you today C&C as we found your finds just before you and picked up a couple of your tags. Will need to catch up tomorrow to give you some of ours.
Scott
Are there any times to meet, or will we just come around any time?
I also have a GCA cache race movable cache, that needs to hitch a ride, either north or south with another cacher.
Pity can't see you all there personally.

Glad I did see Partic when I did as I spent the rest of the Jamboree working on the Water Activities Site and had a lot of fun. Hello to all the cachers who were there. Sorry I couldn't catch up with you *Socks*.
Cheers
MC KENNA
*edit* Just realised an amusing little coincidence! The 'B.R.a.T.S' (Ballarat, Romsey, Tullapark, Strathmore) nickname for our AJ Troop, was actually my co-leaders idea, and she has no idea about our 'TaylorBrats' moniker - but I guess there's no escaping the facts, hey? haha
cheers,
Wal
My wife and eldest girl are there working the whole time,
Daughter #2 is there as a scout,
so I am certain at least one if us can get to a geo-gathering
(sadly I am not working the day of the Gilwell reunion, so can't make that.)
There are another 3 or 4 caches within 5 or so mins drive of the camp too.
I have never logged a GCA before, so this may be a first!
This will be my first Jamboree and I can't wait.
Not sure about when though yet either.
Thanks,
Camstal + 1 other
BTW we registered late and still got accepted, but of course we are visiting a scout, which may or may not make a difference.
During December, check the forum (easiest thing is to subscribe to the thread in the GCA forum) for potential changes to the cache as we get closer to the event.
