Description
Google Streetview car
I have always loved Google Streetview. My son and I often search around the world looking for interesting bridges and virtually driving over them. Today, I spotted the Streetview car drive past my son's school. It was a normal small sedan/hatchback with the cameras mounted on a pole about 1 metre above the car's roof.
To claim the cache, you will have to see the Streetview car. You will have to be quick, and if you can manage a photo even better.
Ensure you include the coords and the date and time of your sighting.

We saw this car at Underwood on 29th January 2020 stopped at traffic lights
Heading through Beenleigh today and what should slowly pass us? An Apple Maps Image Collection car.
We have seen similar (Google) cars before but never quick enough to take a photo. Today we managed it.
Thanks for this cache Lattejed.

Scrolling through some locationlesses and was surprised to see this one in the mix! I had indeed seen the Street View car on the 24th of October 2019 at around 3pm while driving through the area.
I rushed to grab a photo of it and just as I pressed the button, my phone died.
Fortunately, after a recharge, I discovered that I had indeed snagged a picture just before it went kaput and I've attached it to this log.
Thanks to Lattejed for the locationless.

Was out looking for a GCA moveable when the tripod-roof car drove past us, August 2014.

I saw the google car ages ago and then found this cache to log, hope it is OK now at the date seen as I was stoked to see it. I have a couple of google earth photos of my car in various places if you are at all interested.

Lucky enough to spot this one whilst doing an earthcache in the area.

We were just on our way up the street for a spot of lunch when I noticed the camera car doing the rounds of Ivanhoe. While he drove in and out of a court, I parked the car and waited for him to exit so that I could snap the shot at 13:25.
What a buzz - now I'll be watching to see if it caught me on camera.
Thanks lattejed.

I spotted the Google car drive past as I was walking to work.
Hi lattejed
Budgietas and I spotted this vehicle on the the West Tamar Highway travelling in the opposit direction to that we were travelling. It was a matter of turning around and chasing. We caught up on Spring Hill Road and I took the photos while Budge did a good job driving.
The first photo was taken at 1438hrs.
These vehicles do a great job and it was fun giving chase to get this cache.
TFTC and cheers

We have been on the lookout for the Google streetcar for some time but without any success. Yesterday, whilst travelling wetwards towards Ulverstone we noticed a car on the opposite side of the highway with an unusual object on top. Could it be? We quickly found a way to get from one side of the highway to the other and set off in pursuit. Luckily roadworks and slow traffic enabled us to catch up before too long. The object of interest was a NAVTEQ Maps car with a 6 lens Nokia panoramic camera mounted on the roof. A later check of the NAVTEQ website revealed that this camera type is used for taking streetview images, not for Google, but for many other clients including Garmin. We pursued the car from Forth to Devonport taking as many photos as we could to clearly identify the car and camera. Although it was not a Google streetcar but a streetcar from another company carrying out the same role, we contacted the cache owner and sought approval to log our find which was received. A composite photo has been added to the Gallery: the first image if of the car at a roundabout in Devonport showing the company name and camera; the second is of the back of the car when we first caught up (and it is the coordinates of this location used in this log); and the third is a close view of part of the Nokia panoramic camera. Thanks lattejed for an interesting locationless and for your permission to log the find.
Was driving past Richmond TAFE and finally saw a camera car. They were parked looking at maps. I pulled over and spoke to them the bloke new adout caching and took a Pickie of me and his offsider.
Spotted this vehicle on the Spring Hill Road. Well not totally correct I spotted it on the West Tamar Highway going the other direction. It was a matter of turning around and chasing. We caught up on Spring Hill Road and the photos were taken.
I actually qualify for this many times, but two I can document.
On was when I ran into a group of Street View backpack cameras while out geocaching:

Another when the cars drove around work:

I have also seen the car drive around my home town, and around Google HQ in Mountain View California several times.

I spotted this vehicle on the way to work along the Tasman Highway a little while ago. I think it may be one of the Google Streetview cars, but I still haven't seen any related images come up in Streetview on GoogleEarth.
The Google Streetview image that I linked to in our found log back in May 2010 has been updated, and I'm no longer in the current image.
But, they have finally placed the image online from my second visit by the Googlemobile!

I am on the trestles at the side of the house that we were cladding. My offsider is standing there with his hands on his hips, as usual.
I'll also upload the screen cap of the image, as it will last a bit longer on here.

Taking a chance on it being OK, I am logging a find, although it was not the google car but the Whereis camera car that passed us at Manly Oval on the weekend.
Sat 4th June, mid arvo, no time for a pic, as I was working and the dvd-player was running with the camera locked away under it at the time (yeah, I know, what can I say, it was a busy day....). It was the 2nd time my wife had seen it that week, so they are all around Sydney at the moment.

While heading to a day at the aquarium I noticed it driving in front and took a quick snap with the iphone.

Spotted the car on Templestowe Rd while out on an afternoon cache hunt. I tried to pull over for a pic but could not get the camera out in time.
I should check to see if I made it into streetview.

I saw the Google-mobile drive past a new house that I was cladding in Wallaroo, SA earlier this year. I will post the image it took of me when it comes online.
In May 2009, the Google-mobile snapped me building a deck on another new house only about 250m away from the above co-ordinates. The image can be seen HERE. I am just to the right of the doorway, and that is my Hilux that takes me to most cache hunts.

Spotted on the Monaro Highway while travelling from Canberra to Cooma. A quick grab of the GPS to take a mark before it disappeared into the distance.

Spotted the car as we hurtled down the Princes Hwy to Bairnsdale. Given the combined passing speed of 200km/h we didn't get the time for a photo! But am continuing to check google maps for when our Magna turns up!
I saw the google car this morning getting off the Ferry from Melbourne to Devonport, I had plenty of time for a pic but the camera on my phone has give up the ghost, TFTC
The GPS mobile caught on the Google cam back in 2008.
Saw the Google car and I said to my wife (Sigma) "Hey, that is the google vehicle", and it was. We are in the red car on the right of the following photo.

This happened back in December 2009. Down the street from my house I was cutting up some firewood with my chainsaw, a tree had fallen after a storm. I noticed a stopped car with a camera on top pointing right at me! I thought it was a news crew catching me in the act... I walked up the car and then noticed the camera had eight lenses, I then knew it was the Google car! I had a chat to the driver, he was just making some fine tuning adjustments to the gear before continuing on. He said they planned to re-photograph Canberra by the end of 2009. TFTC!

I was driving home from work when stopped at the lights in Bindubi Street Belconnen when I noticed a car with a pole strapped onto its roof and weird cameras mounted on top. When I got home I mentioned to W6R that I thought I saw the google camera car. Its a cache he said. OMG!!! Checked the photos and yes it was a google car. How exciting!

I was driving to work along the Bruxner Highway in Lismore when I spotted the black google car with camera on the pole heading the opposite way. Not far from Lismore City Hall. Too slow to get a photo but I will keep my eyes open for it again in the next couple of days.
Don't know how quickly the images go up. BUT if you go to those co-ords and look around there is a little red car heading towards the camera..... That is almost exactly where my little red car would have been this morning. Perhaps it is me.

Was heading home from work and noticed this weird looking car coming towards me as it got closer I realised that this was the Google Street View car so a quick Uturn and followed him back to Kadina so I could grab a picture or 2 on my crappy phone camera. Hopefully I will see my car on Street View in the near future.
Dam me if this thin did not drive past my place at Wesley Vale, could not believe my eyes.
Saw the streetview car as i was driving to work at about 8am. No chance to snap a photo though.

While camping at Wisemans Ferry with RAGS4x4 we sotted the Google car near the ferry.
Spotted it this evening, parked in front of the Millers Inn, Altona North, Vic. I didn't think I would see it, it seems bit of a rarity.

Saw a white mapping car with camera mounted on roof as in your photo, driving down Long Gully Road at 1235hrs today. We were amazed to see it as have never seen it before but thanks to this cache listing we knew what it was. Went by so quickly that there was no time for a photo but I'm sure you can check the digital data for our white hilux once it is released to Google Earth! TFTC

No time for a photograph while driving from caching today.
Whats that strange vehicle coming towards me? A grey google street view car with camera mounted on the top. Now I know what they look like.

Saw the car on Church Street near my sons school while dropping him off. Wasn't able to get a picture though. Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for doing something about this phenomenon. I did not know what it was until I read the description. One of our past times at work is to peer out the window overlooking Bunda St and Gus's cafe in town. The street activity is very entertaining. Yesterday I saw the car you describe drive past, I could not figure out what the pole was, and you have given me the answer.
