A quick stop here and a little wandering around the area brought me to the cache Mr. Green
Searchers need to be careful here however, especially if visiting by night as there is an old, open mine shaft only about five meters from the cache location Shocked Glad I was here in the daylight with my luck!
Cheers and thanks for the hunt Margieh

We stopped at Moonta to find a few caches before heading to Yorketown. This cache was located quickly as much of the surrounding vegetation has died. The log book was damp so after signing we left it in the sun while we looked for several others nearby. On our return the log had dried out so we rebagged it and returned the cache container to its hiding spot.

Thanks for this cache Margieh and for showing us this part of historical Moonta.

As our time in Wallaroo is rapidly coming to an end we decided to have one last day caching around some more of Yorkes. Today we chose to head to Arthurton and then across the Peninsula to Port Hughes and Moonta/Moonta Bay.

So much history around here....we must come back soon to explore further. The cache container was shattered so we replaced it with a plastic fruit container.

Many thanks for the hide Margieh ClappingDancing

Took a while to spot this hide. One of those ones that you wonder how you missed it on the first sweep.
Another interesting site at Moonta but it looked like it doesn't get the visitors or the attention of the others.
Would have liked a look in the cottage opposite but it wasn't open today.
Thanks for another GCA hide.

Touring Australia having left Perth in late February we are leisurely touring South Australia after having attended Oz Mega. Big Grin

Today was set aside for touring Moonta and Wallaroo. Well we had a long list and after a sleep in and problems loading the GPSr had us not even starting till 0900hrs.

We had a great day and saw lots of historic places and learnt lots about the area. Big Grin The list was only just started and we never left Moonta till after dark so Wallaroo will have to be tomorrow.

duh couldn't work out why I couldnt find this cache on the website. Duh wrong website. Finally got all this sorted. ThinkWhistle

We found this cache as part of our family YP camping trip. Over the 12 days we saw some fantastic scenes and did a heap of cool stuff. This really is a beautiful slice of our country. To top off an already wonderful trip, we also found 145 caches, 6 trackables, 1 pathtag and attended 1 event.

Thanks for the cache!!

Found while doing the Copper Coast Caching Event. The kids were not all that happy with me doing 'real' caches instead of the Event ones.

Went round and round before spotting it. TFTC. Very Happy

137. Pulled this one out of the GPS just to make sure we had hit 100. I thought it was one more but 100 is a 100.

TFTC and the shaft.

Ah! I was wondering why it was hidden behind a fence.

I was going to visit these 2 new caches after work today, but I needed to call into Moonta Engineering to pick up some flashings, giving me a brief oppourtunity to come out here as well.

At first I wasn't sure where I was going to be looking, but upon arriving at the car park I soon realised that I'd been here before!

Spotted the stash from the politically correct side of the fence, and hopped over for the find.

Happy anniversary, Geocaching in Australia!

Thanks for bringing me back here Margieh.
