Description

A joint cache between Firesafe (Australia), Jeditrekr (USA) and JimmyReno (USA)

Dual Citizenship

After a day out with Local Reno Cachers - Jeditrekr, JimmyReno, ForeverChaos and HRKneese caching North Reno and through to Pyramid Lake, we were on the way home and was looking for a place to hide a US-Australian cache.

Once leaving the Indian Reservation, an rocky outcrop just yelled that it needed a cache up top. The closer we got, it appeared to be more than rock as there were strange items up near the top. We still couldnt come up with what it was. Can you!!!

When finding this cache, make sure you log both the Aussie and Yankie cache.

The GC cache is found at www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx

I was out looking for a new cache with my neighbor, this one was close to the road on the way home so we decided to go for it.I like the area and the view, the bad thing was that some one had taken the ammo box and just left the contents laying out. I gathered up everything and put it under a rock Jedi said he will replace the box. but I think it is really cool that we have a cache that can be logged on two continents

Momma gravy was sweet talked into joining 4McElfish for the hunt for this jewel. What great views we had from the top of the hill. The younger and more agile 4McElfish did the final effort to cache location while I maintained guard over her belongings. She threw down the log for me to sign, and I tossed it back to her to return to the cache. What a great experience this was for me! Thanks for the great hide! b

I've had my eye on this cache for some time now. The thought of getting a 2 for one was appealing. So I called up LaughingGravy and told her I wanted to attempt this one early in the morning, before the snakes got out of their robes and slippers. We knew where we needed to approach this one from and it didn't really look all that bad from down below, so we started up. At times it was like being on a stair-master, every step you took, you would sink back several inches in the loose rocks. Well, we managed to get to the top without incident, no snakes, only the jurassic lizard that runs on it's hind legs was around. We followed our arrows and even kept checking on the topo map which level the cache was on, but we spun in circles only several feet from GZ. Shoot, we're looking for a regular sized cache and we've checked every spot! The loose rocks and hillside made the search all that more difficult. We weren't going to DNF it 8 feet from GZ so I climbed up to a high spot to get cell reception and phoned the only other finder and FTF. I think he was shocked we were up there and graciously gave us a description of where we needed to be. SHOOT, you want me to go where? I left my bag behind and pulled out my rock climbing skills and made the find! Whew (now how do I get down?). The view was great from the cache. It feels good to have made the hike up here. Thanks for the cache and the fun.

FTF!! Woo Hoo. We have been keeping up with our goal to grab at least one cache every day this year. When looking around for somewhere to go today I ran a search for any FTF possibilities and was thrilled to see this one. Richard had called to invite me on this outing but real life got in the way. I'm sorry I missed out on meeting a fellow cacher from down under. What a better way to at least go get a taste of that trip then to try for this hide?

It was just the dog and I today and we made our way out Pyramid Hwy. not sure exactly what we were in for. I parked the grocery getter just North of the cache and we started hoofing it up. Half way there I thought to myself, "well, this is no big deal...". I spoke to soon though as the closer we got to GZ the steeper and more slippery things started to get. I approached the last 20 ft. from the west and decided that looked too hairy. I scrambled around to the east and it wasn't all that much better. There was a six foot rock face between us and an FTF. As I pondered the best way to take the next step the dog leaped past me and stood atop where I wanted to be. She seemed to be looking at me like "what's the problem loser?". Two good foot holds and I was up there with her and soon enough signing the empty log book. Soaked in the small view of the lake from this vantage point just as the snow really started blowing in earnest.

I was surprised to find the FTF prize of TB dog tags and know just what to do with them. There will be a new pirate in our crew soon! Thanks guys for the adventure. Looks like I missed out on a really fun day. Dropped a Geocoin, THANX!

Out at the regional shooting facility today getting the wife dialed in for her antilope hunt. Needed a cache for my one-a-day habit and this looked fun. I have wanted to climb these rocks since I was a wee kid. A cache was all the excuse I needed to finally get me to the top. Great place for a hide. Took home the nvsrvyr geocoin(nvdyyw). TFTC.
P.S. Does this mean I can claim a find in australia?
Recieved an e-mail from the cache owner that said I could log this as a aussie find also. How cool is that.
