Description
WE WISH YOU WELL
Wishing Wells are a term from European folklore to describe wells where it was thought that any spoken wish would be granted. The idea that a wish would be granted came from the idea that water housed deities or had been placed there as a gift from the gods, since water was a source of life and often a scarce commodity.
To log this cache you will need to take a photograph of a wishing well, you are able to log as often as you wish however they must be in a unique location.
You do not have to have yourself or GPS in the photograph.
Good luck and enjoy!

This wishing well is outside the Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR) office, underneath the Point Danger Lighthouse. It raises funds for VMR.
While it does not look like a traditional well style wishing well, it is a wishing well and there is signage inviting visitors to drop in a few coins to support the service. The fountain section is based on a sculpture by Ron Muir called Anchored, created in 2003. It features both an anchor and a ship which looks remarkably like Cook's Endeavour - a significant ship for this area since Cook named Point Danger, along with Mount Warning. Underneath is a shape which could be shark or a stingray. A plaque on end of the 'pool' states that the Wishing Well is named the John Watt Wishing Fountain.
Thanks for the locationless.

Okay...I'm going to take a chance on this. I found a...WISHING CHAIR! This is located at the entrance to the Mount York Obelisk and lookout. The second photo is not very clear, but it is a cavity on the rock wall with coins from the wishers. If this does not meet the requirements of a wishing well...WELL, I'm okay with that.

This well is located on the Southern Approach to Nanango Qld. It is located in an area that is trying to depict the early days of settlement in the Nanango area from about the 1880's. There are o lot of structures and depictions of early era Nanango and how the population then lived and survived.

WanderingAus wandered by, having picked GC3664W Cypress Hill By vidahoy to be my 4,900th find. My journey took me past the Peace Memorial Rose Garden in Nedlands, so I pulled over to waymark that as WMGZ5F Peace Memorial Rose Garden, Nedlands, Western Australia.
While I wandered around I spotted this Peace Memorial Rose Garden Wishing Well.

Spotted this wishing well in the middle of town in St Helens on the east coast of Tasmania. Any money donated in the well is used at the local district hospital.
What an opportunity! A wishing well not yet logged, located in the most quirky place and discovered by chance when we went into a demolition yard just outside Invercargill, to find a cache of course! This yard was the most astonishing and eclectic collection of things, not all of it junk. Anyway, a bonus find thanks!
This feature, which has been referred to as a wishing well for many years, is located in the hills behind Fern Tree and is part of the water supply system for Hobart and Kingborough. A number of different pipelines meet here before continuing down the hill.

Is it a wishing well or just an old well? rogerw3 and I made a wish that someone would buy this amazing ruined estate and fix it up. Then, a few days later, we read in the Blue Mountains Gazette that this was just what was planned! So maybe it really is a wishing well . . .

Had just found a cache and I was thinking that object looks familliar. Yes it is a well and it does hold water but I do not think that many people these days would make a wish but however in days long gone there were probably many wishes made at this point. Located at a tourist stop in the middle of nowehere where tailings from old disused gold mines once were.

Wishing Well, The Bluff, Devonport, Tasmania
This Wishing Well was installed in 1958 to raise funds for Devonport’s first Home For The Aged, Meercroft. Originally there was a gabled roof over the well but this deteriorated, was repaired on at least two occasions but eventually was not replaced. The area remains well maintained but we are uncertain how many people throw in a coin or two and make a wish today. There were some coins in the bottom (under security mesh) as well as some sticks but no water.

The 'Sphinx' wishing well as it is known and plaqued doesn't seem to serve this purpose any more but is labelled as a wishing well so I guess it qualifies. Worth it just for the Egyptian-style engravings on it and The Sphinx nearby.

WanderingAus wandered by with the WanderingMrs (aka SWMBO) on day 131 of our annual Climatic Refugee trip, after 11 weeks in Darwin and a couple of weeks meandering across and down through Queensland then slowly down the Kidman Way to Griffith, through Jerilderie and on to Finley where we booked in to the caravan park for two nights, then on to Cobram for a night, and then to Rochester for a couple of nights.
The WanderingMrs had determined through the wonders of the Information Superhighway that there was line dancing that night in Kangaroo Flats, just south of Bendigo, so off we went again, and checked in to the A Line Caravan Park in Big Hill a little further south for two nights. Once again the WanderingMrs had chosen the caravan park through the Information Superhighway, and it was a top choice, excellent facilities and well laid out.
Before leaving the City of Greater Bendigo area I placed an "I've Cached Everywhere Man (ICEM)" cache, GA3409 WanAus 201 - Bendigo ICEM. After two nights at Big Hill we did a right turn and headed West through Saint Arnaud and Murtoa to Horsham, where sadly the Information Superhighway incorrectly stated that there was line dancing that night.
The WanderingMrs had also determined through the wonders of the Information Superhighway that there was over a week of line dancing at the Wentworth Services Club, so after a couple of cold, wet and windy days in Horsham, we headed towards Ouyen as our "halfway house" to the Wentworth area.
After checking in to the Ouyen Caravan Park we headed off to explore the town, and were surprised to find a very nice Bakery open at 3:00 PM on a Sunday, so we treated ourselves to some very nice cappucino and cakes for afternoon tea.
Across the road from the bakery I spotted this wishing well at Ouyen Community Centre.
There is a plaque on the wishing well commemorating it's placement there as part of Ouyen's Centenary Celebtrations in 2009.

The WanderingMrs had determined through the wonders of the Information Superhighway that there was line dancing a couple of nights in Griffith, so we checked in to the caravan park for six nights.
After that we continued on down the Kidman Way, with a stop at Jerilderie for lunch, then carried on to Finley where we booked in to the caravan park for two nights. While hunting down GC2X111 A Little Bit Of History In Finley by Blacklegend I spotted this wishing well not far from the waypoints for the cache.

An accidental logging!
I had completed aMAZEing, so we took a photo, and then I discovered today (17vi11) that there is a locationless for wishing wells. Not being one to pass up a find on GCA , here is my log. The Well is the centrepiece of the Mintaro Maze in mid-North SA.
The photo shows us posing for the maze, but the wishing well and a few coins are visible. I guess more than one maxe entrant has wished for a speedy exit from the maze...
having trouble cross-loading the picture: I'll fix it up when I'm home

The wishing well is located in Wagga’s Victory Memorial Gardens. It is not a true wishing well as it is actually part of the war memorial, however, people like to still throw in a coin and make a wish. Victory Memorial Gardens are located on the banks of the Wollundry Lagoon in the central business district of Wagga Wagga New South Wales, Australia. The 2.02 hectares (5.0 acres) of land were formerly the site of the Old Police Barracks and Police Paddock, where all of the police horses were kept. It became land for public recreation in February 1931. In 1925 the Wagga Wagga Municipality Council planned a tribute to those who fought and died in the First World War. The Council originally planned a museum but public preference was for gardens. There was a public competition for the design which was won by Thomas Kerr who was the chief landscape gardener of the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney. Work on the gardens started in 1928.
In the midst of the war, there had been a proposal for a Memorial Arch to honour volunteer soldiers from 1916. The proposal gained momentum when the servicemen returned after the War. A plan was finally planned to construct a monumental archway entrance to a memorial gardens in 1925. The Victory Memorial Gardens Arch was finally completed at a cost of £1700 and was officially unveiled amid great fanfare on Anzac Day 1927 by Major-General C. F. Cox.
A cenotaph had been built earlier in 1922.
In 2006 the Chisholm Fountain, previously located in the Civic Centre precinct, was restored and installed in the gardens in time for Anzac Day commemorations.

Now I've been off the cache trail for the last week or so with a death in the family, so hadn't checked the list to see recent additions. I thought "pity that's not a find". Is it a wishing well? Well, it's certainly a well, and you can make a wish if you want! I positioned my Oregon 300 GPSr with its jaunty orange streamer right on the edge of the ancient stone structure for this photo and make a wish that it wouldn't fall in.
Located at the headquarters building complex of the Scheyville National Park, northwest of Sydney, this historic site has served a number of uses over the years.
I arrived here searching for a 'mystery cache' so won't say more.
It's one of those locations that you can't believe you didn't know about, after spending decades traveling nearby.
