Description
Virtual Cache unfound for a year
I realised lately that one of my more remote caches hadn't seen a find in over 3 years! It's not that far out...
geocaching.com.au/cache/gcqpgj
- Boring Cactus.
To complete this locationless, you can find any VIRTUAL or LOCATIONLESS cache which has not had an internet logged find for 1 calendar year. You must complete the hiders requirements. Dual listed caches which have been found on GC but not GCA do not count.
As an addition, as many NSWNP (or other national park) physical caches have been converted to virtuals, if you find one of these where the last find on the corresponding physical cache was 12 months ago, even if the virtual was listed more recently, then you may claim an unloved find on this virtual locationless. The last find is considered to be the last find on either the virtual or the physical, whichever is later.
You cannot find your own cache. You cannot find a cache you've found before. If you find this cache with a mate, only one of you can claim the find. Argue it amongst yourselves.
You need to include:
- The GC/GA code and name of the cache you are logging.
- The actual date of the find - must be after the date this locationless is listed (1 Nov 2010)
- The date of the last find (or note it as an FTF)
- Why you think this one has gone so long.
- Coordinates as listed on cache page.
It would be nice if you included:
- A photograph of the cache and or location
- A little story about the hunt.
You can claim this more than once - after all, the intent is to make these unloved caches loved again!
The "sister" locationless caches are:
- 6 Months Unfound - geocaching.com.au/cache/ga2689
- 12 Months Unfound - geocaching.com.au/cache/GA2699
- 2 Years Unfound - geocaching.com.au/cache/ga2698
- Trigs 1 Year Unfound - geocaching.com.au/cache/ga2703
I will be monitoring these closely - no dodgy claims!

Hey Cached - just realised this is the 12th occasion I have been able to log this Virtual 12 Months Unfound. Very pleased to be supporting old caches keeping on going.

I suspect geocachers have forgotten about this cache.
I suspect geocachers have forgotten about this cache.
I suspect the scarcity of appropriate place names is the reason for a long time between logs.
Listed co-ordinates S42 46.684 E147 06.152 were accurate. There was a private road sign which I misinterpreted and initially it looked as if the access to the GZ was a private road no public access so perhaps this is a reason why it has remained unfound for so long. I was the 16th find.

Maybe it's because there have been so many locationless caches being published recently because there have been a lot of people in Lockdown due to the corona virus
Thanks for making us aware of some of the lonely caches
Details are:
Electricity Bikes GA6871 found by Beetles2 18.8.2020
Previous finders 2y'stassies 30.11.2018
Think we well and truly qualify for this one.
I think the reason it has gone so long without a find is that cachers are usually too busy with 'real' caching and these older locationless caches tend to be forgotten about.
With the current COVID crisis Myself and others are looking back through them though and I notice a lot of the older ones are getting foundlogs again.
I think locationless caching has been great for us during this unusual time and is having an incredible resurgence, it is certainly giving us plenty to do.
Thanks.
My Log was
Had a great bike ride and walk to this cache today.
The ride was muddy, the walk was muddy and the water was cold. But it was a great day. There were a number of people at the cave - 2 on arrival, and a group of 7-8 children and 6 adults then turned up. The children had done well, as most we 6 - 9 and they had walked up from the parking spot to the Swallet, really impressive.
I hid a cache while here, a little further up the slope from the virtual location just this location is more visited, which it should be.
Many fungis where photographed.
I had been here about 30 years ago, so couldnt remember the place very well.
Thank you for the cache
Thanks for the locationless Cached.
