Description
Rose Bay High School Web Cam
I've used this webcam for years to take a look at the weather in Hobart.
The image is available in various sizes and there is also a library of interesting saved images to look at.
There are a few places that you should be able to get yourself in the image which is updated once every ten minutes, so you may need to position yourself and wait for a bit...
To log a find for this cache I ask that you do two things:
1/ save the image from the webcam in which you are visible and upload with your log
2/ record the coordinates for your position in the image and note them in your log also
Visit http://www.rosebay.tased.edu.au/Camera.htm to view the webcam.

Photos show our car turning around to park and parked. It is the large black car.

Since the roadwork has been done the area has changed quite a bit. It is now easy to capture a photo from the school side of the highway. Being a quiet Saturday afternoon walking along the edge of the school grounds was not an issue. It only took 2 attempts to get a reasonable photo. I am in the white t-shirt and SSR who came back for more punishment is standing with me in the bottom of the picture.
I have wanted to for this for ages but the Summer Scavenger Series has stirred me into action. TFTC

I have been meaning to do this webcam cache for so long now it was only today as we were heading over the bridge that we took the lefthand lane to take us to Rose Bay High school.
We parked up near the school and walked across the grounds on this summer evening until we were at the fence, it took us three tries of refreshing the camera before we were in a spot where you could see us both.
Thanks very much for my first webcam cache.

Finally we have been able to get to this cache when it has been working reliably. Today there was only 3 minutes between image updates meaning that we didn't have to wait very long. The photo added to the gallery shows us circled in red with an arrow to further emphasise our presence.
The webcam caches been a stumbling block for me till now, both in terms of technology and skills, but given that I'm now equipped with mobile wifi for my laptop, I'm on a mission to do the ones around Hobart. This is my second, having done the Wrest Point one yesterday! (Don't think my skills have improved much yet...) I had looked at the gallery photos and decided there was a good spot just down from the school entrance. Given that I work there, that would make things easy. I was leaving late this evening, so with no-one about I went down and sat on the grass with my laptop and waited for the next update. It's a bit embarrassing to admit that it took me a good 10 minutes to figure out that the camera position must have changed slightly since the other photos were taken and the spot I was in, actually wasn't in the frame! So then I drove around to the other side and got myself to the next closest viewing spot. It took another few updates to get it all sorted, but I'm pleased that I was successful in the end! Thanks dean.
I had some fun with this one, firsly Some trouble getting in the right position, but eventually found the perfect location. the it took my about 8 minutes to get the web site to update and show me a picture of myself. True I would not want to have a photo of me either.
Anyway photo taken. I will upload when I am back at work Tuesday - I trust this ok.

Hi dean_erwin
Well this cache became a bonus for me today. Had arranged to meet red tag and drop off a couple of moveable caches at Rosny and was told she was a hunting this one and asked me to join in. Decided I would and it became my first web-cam cache.
The technique used to get the photos was unbelievable. We took photos of photos off our iphones with the two of us standing in full view of the web cam.
Yes, it is us standing there; believe me it is us!!!
Logged this cache at about 1215hrs.
Now I have the technique, my thanks to red tag for the tuition, hopefully I can progress to solo efforts on othe web-cam caches.
Great views and I'll have to go back and get some better flics from this spot.
Thanks for the cache
Cheers; OldSaint.

Firstly, we tried to get a picture by waiting and waiting at S42 51.755 E147 21.386. We moved away and found a better position - one that would show up in the picture. But when I checked the image on the net, the first location showed our headlights pointing straight at the camera.
Our second location (tagged) showed up the vehicle heaps better so we are going with that set of coords. We are in the wagon, headlights on, nosed in towards the lamp post.
It is a little tricky doing this with an iPhone....

I considered "planking", but decided I wouldn.t be visible, so I'm standing up instead.
How about that for timing! I haven't done much caching lately and certainly haven't been keeping my eye on new caches like I used to, but this morning I was heading out on an errand and wondered if there might be a newish cache along the way... I was very pleased to see this one almost exactly halfway between home and where I was headed!
I did a quick bit of research using Google Earth to find a likely location, grabbed my orange "They Might be Giants" foam finger for a bit of contrast, and headed out the door...
