Description
A continuance of my All The Rivers Run Series but this time cache placement being done via GCA.
Lake Burley Griffin came into being in 1963 after the Molonglo River — which ran between the city centre and the Parliamentary — was dammed. The length of the lake is about 11 kilometres and at its widest approximately 1.2 kilometres. It has an average depth of 4 metres and a maximum depth of about 18 metres near Scrivener Dam.
The first Commonwealth Avenue Bridge was constructed in 1928 and the current bridge was opened on 10 March 1962, with a motorcade led by Prime Minister Menzies.
Work commenced on the bridge in March 1961. At the peak of building, up to 500 men would gather on the flood plain to work—uprooting trees, removing soil, cottages and dismantling the timber truss bridge at Commonwealth Avenue. The Bridge is a twin structure, with separate parallel carriageways. The bridge structures are of 5 spans totalling 310 metres, of fully continuous prestressed design. It has a higher camber than Kings Avenue Bridge, a design feature to allow for yachts to sail beneath. The end pylons give added importance to the bridge as the main route to Parliament House. To provide an exit and entry clover leaf layout, separate structures are built on the main bridge’s south approaches, totalling 49 metres each, in 4 approximately equal spans. Between the spans on the southern side are two granite stones from the 1817 Waterloo Bridge across the River Thames in London. These were presented to Australia after the 1817 bridge was demolished
This cache has been given a 5 star terrain rating unless you are prepared to swim and tread water while signing the log. If you do so then you probably deserve 5 stars anyhow Please ensure when closing the cache that the seal is completely unobstructed - you will understand why when finding the cache. While boating on the Lake please wear a personal flotation device for safety reasons.
Bring your own pen please.

This was an excellent cache!
TFTC and the mascara.
Matt slipped ahead of us all (in the slowest boat) by catching a lift with Jusojara and co on the power boat. By the time I got there it was done and dusted.
A great day out thanks Rbirtles
Ah, McPhan didnt have his GPS on him. Oh dear.
Winglen also didnt have their GPS's on them. Hmmm.
BatGirl and CorvettePete were...behind us somewhere. With presumably a GPS or so we hoped.
What do we do? Lets do it without a gps!
After finally getting to the spot, i got the opening/signing cache honours..either my arms were REALLY tired, or it's bronnie proof, as i almost couldnt open it! but then i managed to, signed all of our names, and it was back to shore we go.
Woohoo!
Oh yeah, and thanks to the winglens for ramming us to get us close enough to the cache!
Also, we must of missed the mass group signing...which i'm kinda thankful for..i had enough trouble with writing 5 names!
This is the point where there were 6 canoes and all crashing into each other.
R got wet
Thanks for the fun of 5 stars, and the FTF.
