Description
Locate and photograph a Love-Locked Structure.
Ah! the feeling of love....
Many find Valentine's day, a day to be frivolous and romantic!
Others find it a chore. Some choose to send a card, other choose to give flowers or chocolates.
In many places and countries it has become a tradition not only on Valentine's day, but for weddings and proposals,
to secure a padlock to a railing ,or chain on a bridge,or light-post, or even the Eifel tower and throw away the keys.
Forever declaring your undying love for your loved one.
Traditionaly the structure is a briidge, so the key goes in the river/ocean below
Many of the locks have names and dates engraved or painted on them. some have verses or poems.
My inspiration to set up this locationless came to me while looking for a new cache.
I found a single solitary padlock attached to a new bridge ( 3 years old now)in our area.
I'm sure it is not the only location and i'm sure there are places that will be straining under the weight of the locks of love.
I think i'll keep an eye on this local one to see how it grows. ( maybe even put one of our own on there!)
All you have to do to score a find is post co-ords and photos, along with any stories of noteworthy locks you found or read.
Maybe you have even done this yourself- let us know if you have.
Find as many different locations as you like. One log per location.
All you need is love!

So a quick google before i post this, says that it's Ottawa's "unofficial" spot for love locks. It also happens to be the only bridge over the Rideau Canal. Which is a really pretty ...canal system?. And in winter, it turns into the worlds largest (or longest? one of the two) outdoor ice skating rink. which apparently looks awesome.
But i went in summer, so ah, people seemed to like canoeing etc there.
I barely understood love-locks until...i saw this to be honest! New craze?
Was walking down the stairs in the Centrepoint Carpark, Hobart and saw a lock "locked" to the hand rail. Could only be a "Love-locked" lock as there are no places for a padlock anywhere else near GZ.
In a stair-well; would you propose there?
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint.
I photographed this while crossing many weeks ago.
Being on the news tonight trigged my memory to log.
I will add my piece here soon.

Cheers

Also to Luke and Jade.
A rather nice spot to lock as well overlooking the ocean. NAWWWW.
Sublime Point Lookout
Leura, NSW
This Blue Mountains lookout -- one of the best in the upper mountains -- is attracting love-locks!
Found more when I took my friends from Germany to see the Jamison Valley and Korowal.
(My wife thinks 'Jale' may in fact be 'Dale' . . .)
Sublime Point Lookout
Sublime Point Road
Leura, NSW
I keep finding love-locks everywhere!
The latest are less than a kilometre from my house . . .
Their love-locked padlock is still in place in Leura, NSW, at the Olympian Rock Lookout . . .
And a great view of the Jamison Valley . . .
Went to get some information I needed out of another cache today, but only the cap of that cache was there. No joy gathering the info required.
However, noticed this love lock near to where I had to go to get the information.
I would imagine some honeymooners put it there as it is very close to one of the newer hotel/motels in Hobart, Tasmania; Pier One.
There are no gates where the lock was located - it has to be LOVE-LOCKED.
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint.
Found your love-lock at a beautiful lookout in Leura, not far from one of my own geocaches . . .
Olympian Rock . . . overlooking the Jamison Valley . . .
Safety Fence at Olympiad Lookout
Olympiad Parade
Leura, NSW
Ben & Poppy's First Anniversary . . .
My first sighting of love locks!
I don't know why I never noticed these in the past . . .
What a beautiful place -- one of the most spectacular lookouts in this part of the Blue Mountains -- for such a romantic gesture!
Thanks for an interesting locationless
Great views from here, and a very romantic spot.
TFTC !!
Had no idea of the reasoning behind all the locks, now I know. Will endeavour to return soon and grab a pic to upload.
Love padlocks
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_padlocks
There are lots of padlocks on this new bridge now. In June 2011 I placed my own padlock on this bridge with my mother as a memorial for my father who had recently passed away. I bought the padlock from a local hardware store, engraved a message with my dads dremel and then, with my mother, drove out to the bridge and attached the padlock. My mother then threw the key over the side of the bridge into the ocean below.
We attached this new padlock to another padlock which we had placed on the bridge previously on the 1st Jan 2011 (1/1/11), as our Family padlock. We attached a travel bug tag to the key of this padlock (TB3JA9A)and is now travelling around caches in WA.
Other members of our family have also attached padlocks with ours.
Some of the padlocks which other people have placed have been modified and are works of art.
Thanks for this locationless cache. This is my first log on this web site.
I think it was the Mt Keira Lookout where we found them though.
Mr Draynester and I placed a padlock on the Hohenzollern Bridge in Cologne, Germany when we went there on our honeymoon in 2010. When you get to the bridge, if you have come unprepared there are people selling padlocks and permanent markers. Many of the locks are engraved and some become "families - where a couple revisits the lock and adds a new lock for their child.
Thanks for providing some enlightenment to one of the curious things seen during my travels.
