Description
Should be an easy find near one of WanderingAus' favourite places.
I've Cached Everywhere, Man is the largest cache series hidden in Australia. It is made up of the locations made famous by Lucky Star in the song "I've been everywhere" in 1962, lyrics by Geoff Mack, as well as other towns mentioned in verses made up by geocachers.
Darwin is the seventeenth place mentioned in the song, at Line five in Verse one.
Having visited Darwin four times since I discovered geocaching I own a few Darwin caches and have found quite a lot. Having "found a cache" there I could then place an ICEM cache there too. (I won't place an ICEM cache in any place where I haven't found a cache of some sort first - my rule for me only).
Cached in:
Tullamore, Seymour, Lismore, Mooloolaba,
Nambour, Maroochydore, Kilmore, Murwillumbah,
Birdsville, Emmaville, Wallaville, Cunnamulla,
Condamine, Strathpine, Proserpine, Ulladulla,
Darwin, Gin Gin, Deniliquin, Muckadilla,
Wallumbilla, Boggabilla, Kumbarilla,
I'm a killer.
Having decided to place an ICEM cache in Darwin the next decision was where to place it. I have plenty of favourite spots in and around Darwin, so I put all the names in a list and narrowed it down to the best six, put those six in a hat, and pulled them all out.
Holmes Jungle Nature Park protects one of the few remaining areas of monsoon forest in the Darwin area. It also protects eight geocaches.
This cache is a drab camo'd 100mm diameter 95mm high round screw-top container, protected from crushing by a drab camo'd Milo tin, all concealed under a small pile of rocks. Contents are a log book, finders cards, two pencils, a pencil sharpener, and a few small swaps. Please be sure to seal the ziplock bag, screw the lid on tightly and conceal it as found, replacing the rocks so as to protect from fire as well as unwanted discovery, and watch out for muggles.
Swaggies are not tradeable items. Please feel free to take them without making a trade, but please leave a note in the logbook and your online log, and do log them online. Grounspeak Trackables (geocoins and travel bugs) can NOT be logged into this cache, or any other GCA cache. Please don't drop any Grounspeak Trackables in this cache, and if you find any in this cache please remove them and log a "Grab it from somewhere else" log for the trackable.

Logs
I knew this ICEM cache was around, but didn't know we'd end up so close to it today. We're back in Darwin overnight before heading off to the national parks for several days, and had some spare time this afternoon. We'd just found a GC puzzle not far off, and saw this on the GPS a few hundred metres off. I was glad to see it was in the bush, after no finds for 4 years I figured it might still be there. The bush has obviously been burst not long ago (regularly?) so we half expected a melted blob, but found a nicely intact cache. The log was pretty damp and degraded though, but able to be signed - we treated it carefully and rehid as we found.
It's always cool to find these little capsules sealed away untouched for years!
TFTC!
TNLNSL. Thanks WanderingAus.
I knew where I'd hidden the cache, so I went straight to it, but on checking with the gpsr I found the coords to be out by about 7 metres, so I corrected the coords.
Flew into Alice Springs and met up with my fellow intrepid team members Sol de Lune, Albida33 and LuckyL10n for the start of an amazing trip throughout the Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales and eventually back to Canberra. The Red Centre Experience is the main attraction of course, but also on our agenda are a lot of GC Caches, lots of trigs, as well as plenty of GCA Trads, History and Virtual Caches (and maybe the odd beer or two ??!! Smile. Go Clan Cerberus !
Another Trad for the trip while in the north. We stopped here to look around and grab some caches. Lots of piccies taken. Then it was back in the car and off to the next one !
Another great location visited during our journey.
TFTC !!
Thanks
Albida
Thanks WanderingAus...another one crossed off. Picture of the cache attached.
A bunch of caches in a park always gets me attention and the possibility of a good walk is always likely
This spot fitted the bill nicely and I soon abandoned the geomobile at the nearby picinic area and set off on foot to collect the available caches
Up on top of this hill I soon found me a pile 'o' rocks and uncovered a neatly hidden cache
I've cached in Darwin too
Quick find for us. TFTC.
