Description
Any street name, place name, river crossing sign that has an animal in its name can be used. You must post a photo to be able to claim this cache. The photo must include the sign, you and your GPS. I drove past this sign on a drive along East Tamar. Apparently kangaroos don't understand them as they seem to be always on the road getting killed by cars.

I found this one harder than I thought it should have been but there did not seem to be many "animal" signs . However late tonight I found "Merino " street - merino being a breed of sheep.
Back up in Coffs Harbour after my father has had an op he seems to be taking a while to recover from after 10 days in ICU with probably another 5 to go. It was time to return north and take over mother caring duties from my sister who was flying back to New Zealand this morning. Luckily dad seemed a lot better today, so I left mum there with dad for a few hours to run some errands they needed, shopping, and a couple of bonus caches before picking her up for the trip back to Woolgoolga.
I knew Woopi had a Nightingale Street so that seemed to fit for the last day of this particular scavenge, so stopped to grab a photo tonight. Photo of the sign, and me in front of it. Given many streets in Woolgoolga seem to be named after battles this one may be named for Florence Nightingale, who knows. But it's a bird anyway.
"The common nightingale or simply nightingale (Luscinia megarhynchos), also known as rufous nightingale, is a small passerine bird best known for its powerful and beautiful song"

This sign points the way to Macksville Lions Park. We often stop there and usually see pelicans, never lions. Lions are large ferocious animals which, according to Michael Palin, can be tamed by an accountant if he has the right hat. Pelicans can't. Thanks Tim TamToo

Ibis Court, Traralgon, was very nearly a street I inhabited as we made offers on a house here but ended up buying elsewhere after a dilly dallying real estate agent turned us off the property. Ibises are a family of birds with long legs who inhabit wetlands, forests and plains however The Australian white ibis is often spotted around Traralgon itself and is common along the Eastern coast south of Newcastle. Apparently this particular species has actually been culled in Sydney as they can be a little intrusive and quite stinky. TFTC TimTamToo

Wren...
Origin: Old English wrenna, metathesis variation of earlier werna, a West Germanic word of uncertain origin. Cf. Icelandic rindill, Old High German wrendo, wrendilo "wren." The bird's name in other languages usually denotes "royalty" (cf. Latin regulus), in reference to its golden crest.
American Dictionary: any of numerous small, active songbirds of the family Troglodytidae, especially Troglodytes troglodytes, of the Northern Hemisphere, having dark-brown plumage barred with black and a short, upright tail.

We live in a koala conservation area. Between the creek and the hills behind is a koala corridor and there are numerous signs in the area advising what to do if you find sick or injured wildlife.

Ibis Way in Moama NSW.
The Ibis is the logo used at Cohuna High School. My year 12 windcheater had the Ibis emblazoned on it with our motto excellamous (let us excel). Well, that was until the following year when it had to be cut off of me when I had a motor bike accident and broke my arm.

Lynx Place in Cranbrook.
A lynx is any of the four species within the Lynx genus of medium-sized wild cats, which includes the bobcat. The name "lynx" refers to the luminescence of its reflective eyes.
Lynx have a short tail, characteristic tufts of black hair on the tips of their ears, large, padded paws for walking on snow and long whiskers on the face. Under their neck, they have a ruff which has black bars resembling a bow tie.

Found a bird themed estate with many signs to choose from! Here is some info about my sign, the Thornbill.
Australia has twelve species of Thornbill. They can be found all over Australia.Thornbills feed in small family groups and often travel from tree to tree in the search of insects. They can often be heard as they chatter to one another as they feed. Identification can often be tricky with a few species which are similar in appearance.

Wondering what animal could still be unlogged for this cache when we found Lambs Avenue in Armidale NSW. With Armidale being in a super fine wool growing area there's no surprises there was a Merino Terrace as well. Lambs, where would the old 'Australia that rode on the sheep's back' be without them.

Summer Scavenger series for 2016 a nice local Animal place name Swallow Reach Place.
The swallows and martins are a group of passerine birds in the family Hirundinidae that are characterised by their adaptation to aerial feeding. Swallow is used colloquially in Europe as a synonym for the barn swallow. Swallows have adapted to hunting insects on the wing by developing a slender, streamlined body and long pointed wings, which allow great maneuverability and endurance, as well as frequent periods of gliding.

KANGAROO GROUND is about 10 km from my home so it provides lots of choice for animal signs. I could have chosen the General Store, the Presbyterian Church, the Primary School or the Tennis Club, which all have lovely signs, but I decided to journey out to the quiet Kangaroo Ground Cemetery.
Unfortunately when I turned into Cemetery Road I realised that a large funeral was occurring at this quiet little cemetery. The car park (about 40 gravel spaces) was overflowing. I walked back to the main road and took a photo of this decorative sign.
Kangaroos are common around here but today I didn't see any in the paddocks.

When the 2nd Caringbah cub scouts do their "How to read a map" practise, they also get told what the names of the local suburbs mean. So Cronulla is a pink shell (IIRC) and Caringbah is the Pademelon Wallaby. I don't really have a clue on what a Pademelon Wallaby is, how I would recognize it in the wild or how it is different from any other kind of Wallaby, but it's always one of the highpoints of the "How to read a map" evening so I consider it a thing which will save my honour one day. Which is today, when I can score one point for my clan in the Summer Scavenger Hunt!

Swans, genus Cygnus, are birds of the family Anatidae, which also includes geese and ducks. Swans are grouped with the closely related geese in the subfamily Anserinae where they form the tribe Cygnini. Sometimes, they are considered a distinct subfamily, Cygninae. There are six or seven species of swan in the genus Cygnus; in addition there is another species known as the Coscoroba Swan, although this species is no longer considered one of the true swans. Swans usually mate for life, though 'divorce' does sometimes occur, particularly following nesting failure. The number of eggs in each clutch ranges from three to eight.
