Description

Along with other new caches along Dooley's Trail, a great loop walk can be had by parking as per Secluded Falls cache, walking back down the road and along Chilcotts road, down the 4wd track to the river

where you'll meet up with Dooley's Trail at S41 18.894 E146 11.975

From here you can walk either north or south picking up various caches and combine into a loop walk going back up the Groove Creek track....see notes and map at..wilmotwalkingtracks.com/

Also, could Geocachers please note any fallen logs or debris across the track in their cache log as an aid to keeping the trails maintained. As you can appreciate that with the trail

extending over a large distance, maintenance is a real issue, especially with only a handfull of volunteers.

The cache is a small black container with log book, small swaps and pencil.

Enjoy!

After finding DHT#8 we turned and headed north again to look for this cache which we had never attempted before.
After reading the previous logs I poked around for a long time in the thick leaf litter but then moved a bit further around the tree and spotted the container which was not covered at all except by the rock mentioned by the previous finders.
Had forgotten how many times you leave the flat track near the river and go up and down a steep section of hill. It was quite challenging at times with a lot of smaller trees across the track. Fortunately one of the muggles was a lot younger than me and went ahead and made it easier for us when she could.
Thanks.

Set out to do Dooleys Trail with Goose&Egg and Stainless steel rat, a beautiful area and worth a visit but not for the faint hearted if you do the entire trail at once I left a scout behind in all the caches that were big enough.Thought this one might be gone but after a further look the cache was found, replaced in a slightly better spot.tftc

This one was a pig to find, we found GZ no problem but me and Mr TazScout searched for 5 minutes or so before he dug out the cache from under 200mm of bark and leaf litter, after adding our names to the log we replaced the cache and added a large rock on top in the hope of stopping it being moved by anymore flooding.

Found at 14:20

This cache survived but it was under a lot of mulch. Andy and Paul worked hard to get this one. Andy asked me to grab a rock do I wandered off to get one but got distracted and clean forgot. He came steaming out a few minutes later and I felt guilty as he jumped down to the river to get one. Sorry mate, not sure where my head was Rolling Eyes
We were happy this one survived after a couple of misses.

This part of the track was a bit more hilly but a very nice walk alongside the river, thanks!

Found on our caravan and caching holiday to the North West coast finding caches that had been published since our last visit and this was one of them.

After finding the 2 Secluded Falls caches we continued on to find 5 of the newly published Dooleys Heritage Trail caches. This track took us beside the river and we were not expecting the varied terrain that kept taking us up and then back down to the river level.

Thanks sirius for an amazing and memorable days caching.

Two days ago we went caching in the pouring rain and found three of the seven new Dooleys Heritage Trail caches. Today, with the weather fine, we headed off down The Groove Creek Track to try to find the remaining four. The hand of Sirius was quite evident along the way - the removal of one log in particular was greatly appreciated. Once we got to Dooley's Track, we went downstream to this cache. It was a lovely walk with sun shining through the trees - a real contrast to two days ago. The river was in full flow, rapids in some sections and flowing like treacle in others. The first section of the walk along the trail was testing - steady climb up a track which was slippery in places. However, once the high sections were negotiated and we were back at river level, it was an easy walk. It continues to amaze us that the same river can vary so much in character along the way. This section was very different to others we have walked. Once near GZ, accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. The cache and it's contents were in good condition and with no other entry in the logbook, we will claim FTF at 10:00am. Thanks Sirius Tas for another great cache in this great series.
