Description
Burke and Wills Obelisk acknowledged by Cloncurry and Mining interests.
This Cairn is in a parking area on the Barkly Highway between Cloncurry and Mount Isa. It is on the left side of the roadway travelling towards the west. The Cairn commemorates the camp and passing of the explorers back in 1861 on their journey across Australia. To log all that is needed is a photo of your GPS'r and the Cairn.

On our way home after an long trip in this peaceful countryside. Great to find another B & W location, their story has long been one of my favourite ones to ponder.

As we meander our way to Longreach, we stopped and took a picture here. We have collected many of the B&W series in Vic, alas this one is not part of the series.

Found a GC cache very close by with Smittengranny some years ago.
We will both add photos when we go into Cloncurry in a few days' time.

The outback Queensland tour continues, and today has us sailing through Cloncurry. Having stopped right here, Crew153 cajoled me into taking a photo of him for this virtual - and since I put myself in the same frame ... here be my log too ! We did look at the Obelisk, but liked this rock too. Thanks Baby&Mrs Gopher for creating this virtual.
Found on our 2018 outback tour with Roostaman.

Another perfect Winter day for a trip westward to Isa with MrsRoosta.
Hardly any muggles around today and a few good quick finds.
We stopped here for a cache break and a GA cache as a bonus.
Thanks for the cache gophers,

While spending a few days in Mt Isa we are visiting the many ‘tourist’ spots and hunting a few caches while we’re at it. A drive to Camooweal and the border was on the agenda and we grabbed this one on the way.
Many thanks for the hide BABY & MRS GOPHER

#GA1593 - 12:05; Day 26 of the Alice Mega Road Trip with Sol de lune, albida33 and fitzy_1965. After our first night in Queensland, it was time to add to our cache finds around Mt Isa, before heading to Mary Kathleen, Cloncurry, McKinley and on to Winton for the night. We were now well underway when we stopped off to grab some snaps of this obelisk as we passed. TFTC baby&Mrs gopher

Upon reflection, I think I've got it now. If so, I found this one the other day but because I'm a bit slow , I'm only logging it as a find now.
Many thanks for 'bringing me here' baby&rs gopher.

Given there's now instructions on how to log this one and I don't meet the requirements, I'll change this to a 'Write note' and hope that I get to see it one day for a real find.

OK, so it's a Virtual now but it still doesn't have coordinates or directions on what to do to obtain a smiley so I'm still confused.
For example, is posting the following pickie acceptable as a find?

I'm not quite sure I understand this cache. What does one have to do to log a find and if the obelisk is located at a defined location (i.e. S20° 46.937' E140° 6.766' (or similar)), why is it a locationless cache and not a virtual?
On the plaque attached to the monument in recognition of Burke and Wills expedition in 1861.
"This obelisk was erected by the Cloncurry Shire Council, MIM, and Mary Kathleen Uranium to commemorate the expedition of Burke & Wills who crossed at this spot on 22/1/1861 on their journey across the Australian Continent."
The monument was erected around 1961. I do not know when his photo was taken. We did a trip from Nanango to Charleville to Longreach to Mount Isa to Charters Towers tower and Townsville returning via Mackay and Biloela in 2006.

Found by baby&Mrs gopher. Saw this obelisk back in 2011 and thought it would be a good cache in the B&W series
