Description
A peaceful place to sleep...approach quietly and you will see the little blue wrens.
I was once was a magestic Giant, now I lay here in the company of some of my giant friends. I rest here in this peaceful forest with the creek beside me, it is dry now, but when it rains it can flood the track so care must be taken when visiting me.
You will need to climb a tree to retrieve this geocache, but not climb the way you think of climbing a tree and do not think you can send the kids up!!!
You are looking for a painted camouflaged container. GPS maybe jumpy in this area. This cache was placed here for the GeoSportz 2016 Games.
History and Heritage D and C Burnett Conservation Area
The conservation area is named after Don and Christine Burnett - long-time supporters of the Redland City environment.
Don and Christine were also heavily involved in setting up a wildlife ambulance in the city to aid the rescue of sick and injured koalas.
The first permanent settlers in the area arrived in the 1850s-1870s, and engaged in activities such as grazing, timber getting, crop farming, gravel mining, and charcoal burning.
Currently, there is no recorded evidence of European cultural heritage sites within the conservation area, but physical evidence is likely to be found on D&C and Ford Rd (portion 374a) of timbergetting, charcoal burning and small enterprises, such as sawmilling. Some evidence of very early clearing and farming, such as fences, can also be found.
Wildlife and plants
In the reserve, you'll find significant animal and plant species, including:
Plunkett Mallee (Eucalyptus curtisii) - a prolific flowering small rare tree that is threatened within Redland City
stands of grass trees
swamp wallabies
red necked wallabies
a variety of birds and other wildlife.
The conservation area is largely comprised of eucalypt regrowth, with significant remnant vegetation concentrated along the riparian corridor of Buhot Creek.
This reserve is a significant bushland remnant.
Happy Hunting.

Arrived back in this area 4.5 hours before our flight home. Decided to allow 2 hours to grab as many as we could now that we had a few more GZ co-ords. Started off with a brisk walk down this was for a few trads and maybe one or two puzzles. Arrived at this one, check the hint and then notice the cache. Bit tricky to get up the first step up but after that the cache was easier reached. Log was signed, although not while in situ so another clamber was required, cache replaced and it was off the next one.
Thanks for another one Sambuccasam...still a bit of time left.
This cache wasn't so easy to reach - glad we had someone tall in our group.
We had fun checking out the contents - nice for the younger ones.
Thanks for the cache and your Description. Interesting read.
It's been a while since I last geocached but today changed all that. We found a few.
What a beaut cache! A nice easy walk to this one.
TFTC.
When the coast was clear we s t r e t c h e d and got the cache.
Love the pirate themed swaps.
Cache and contents are in great condition.
Thanks for the fun cache Sambuccasam.
A bit of a stretch to reach
Don't slip on the moss
I came out on the main trail and then wound my way through the maze of tracks until I arrived at the search area. The GPS was not indicating anywhere in specific so I had a look around and read, finally, read the description and hint.
I then thought I knew where to go but I found I was wrong after struggling to climb over the log. I then looked around and spotted the cache. Now, how do I get it without hurting myself? I managed to finally get it in my hands an that is when a group of about 10 muggles appeared on what looked like a guided tour of the area. I stood there and said my pleasantries to them and was greeted with some knowing smiles as if to say "I know why you were in the trees.." Little did they know the real reason.
After they left I then struggled to get the cache back in the correct hiding spot but completely failed. I then decided that I would leave it in a safe spot and send my apologies to the CO and beg forgiveness. I placed the cache and covered it and walked out onto the track to see a muggle approaching with her 10?yo son. I greeted them and asked them if they knew about geocaching. They didn't so I explained it to them and told them I had a predicament.
It was a simple matter for the muggle to put the cache back in the correct spot for me. She had an attribute that I lack??
Now to get back to the car. The GPS wells me it is only 3.2km away. My struggle with this cache had sapped a lot of my energy but knew that I just had to keep going.
I finaa;y got myself back to the car after completing between 7 and 8km over 3 hours. I was so glad to be able to drop into the comfort of the car.
Thanks Sambuccasam. that was the walk that I needed.
This one was tricky in the bike shoes.
