I had been search for micro caches all morning, and this was a lovely find. I was a breath of fresh air TFTC
What a fab view, thanks for bringing us here, took ages to find and wandered in and out of scrub, rewarded on the way home with a laugh as Jessies Dad had a leech on his foot and screamed like a baby in the car
Did the long walk from the guide camp, top scenery, plenty of bird life and leeches. Log only, TFTC.

On a caching adventure with some of the family who had not been caching before. Walked in from the gate track although longer than needed to be it was a great walk and thoroughly enjoyed.
We remember doing this walk many times before and not far from this spot in our youth (yuh that makes me feel old) we have abseiled off the edge at night and the view is spectacular.

Nice walk in to this one and went a little further east like others to find the cache. TFTC.
My second find so not very well prepared for leaving items in cache. Raided pockets and backpack and could only come up with spoon. Too big to fit in cache so had to bend it. Looks very suspicious but no I'm not addicted to anything illegal! Took plastic soldier.
11:10am. No Muggles but slightly off GPS. Took the Joker and left a thumblette. TFTC
This cache revealed itself to me about 4m east of where the GPSr told me it was...

Lovely location for a cache. Walked in from the start of the track near Mt Keira Rd. So lush and green compared to the ACT, could smell the sea in the air.
On reaching GZ found the views fantastic, also nabbed a cache! Great place. Thanks for the views and the cache. ZZ7

Searched for a good fifteen minutes, but to no avail. I'm sure it was there somewhere, but just hiding from my sight.
I count myself lucky to return home in one piece after tackling this on a wet day. On the walk back to the car I removed 3 leeches before they had a chance to attach themselves. I was almost in 4 pieces!
To think of all the years as a CUB Scout Leader and we would go on a night hike along this trail !!!!!!! It was 34' today but down in the gully it was very pleasant.

Nice short walk from the road on a wet and foggy afternoon. Found quickly. Took a bit longer to remove the leaches who had found our ankles to their liking. T: TB and key finder L: Geocoin and Yo Yo.
"Far from the madding crowd", we took a short stroll along a pleasant trail on a beautiful cool, overcast day. TNLN While we were signing the log, the fog rolled away to reveal a breathtaking view of Wollongong! Thank you for sharing this place, and for the cache homedg!

With ill disguised relief - on the part of half of Altaire at least - we'd fled the muggle beset micros nearby to traipse along the forested track. Good to be able to search unmolested and in short order the cache duties were being conducted. Filtered views were granted us from the cache locale. No swaps today.
Another lovely cache location on our tour of Mt Keira. Love the bush location after the muggle encounters at the lookout.
The cache was soon found. No swaps.

Found with Secretsquirrel-BJC. We enjoyed the Wollongong Invasion so much last weekend that we just had to come back and knock over a few more caches.
This was our last find in the Wollongong area before heading for home (Canberra). SS made the find fortunately, as where I was searching was nowhere near the GZ. TFTC

Along the little track, then a quick detour and the cache was in hand. Log singed, cache replace and onward to the next find.

We heard a lyrebird. I didnt actually see it but we could tell it was a lyrebird because there were loads of different bird calls coming from the same place. The cache was good even though I didnt personally find it. McWeBiTe beat us here - but then they usually did!
Thanks for the cache

Nearly missed logging this one, I haven't heard a lyrebird since I moved to Canberra, This experience brought back a lot of pleasant memories of bushwalks in the Bombala area. Pleasant little walk to an easy cache in great surrounds.

Seems like the lyrebird was active for the whole weekend, entertaining the steady stream of cachers with its delightful song. They love the wet weather which was just starting after a clear morning so far.

The most memorable part of this cache was the lyrebird with an amazing variety of different "songs" - including imitating the sounds of construction! I wasn't much help with finding this cache, but did enjoy the walk along the track. TNLN TFTC - 9th for the day.

It took a bit of looking to find, three of us. we will blame the cut down undergrowth .
We were obviously the first ones to use this part of the track today given the number of spider webs on the path - nothing like a face full of web to start the morning! The cache turned out not to be where we thought was most likely but some concerted effort and some ducking down and up and over and under eventually paid off with mr bloopy grabbing the goods. Danke!
nice easy find the listed co-ords took me past the first time past but giveing the gps a chance to stop and work its self out took me to the right spot.

Found towards dusk by Mr Emu, GAFF3. After numerous trips to Wollongong over the past 5 years, I finally had enough time (and light) to take the long way around and visit Mt Kiera. Naturally I had to see which geocaches were nearby.
As I arrived at the GZ, some large animals in the bushes moved away. I thought they were kangaroos, but after reading other logs, perhaps they were deer. Would have been great to see one. The cache-hunt turned out to be a bit harder than I thought, but only because of my own assumptions about where the cache might be hidden. I was on the verge of giving up, and had widened my search a bit, when I spotted the container in it's hiding spot. It must have been the one spot in the whole forest where you could see the darn thing from - I felt unbelievably lucky! On a work trip, and without my 9-year-old son - "Demon Boy" - I didn't bring any swaps, so I "Took: Nil; Left: Nil".
I really enjoyed the great view through the trees and the smell of the bush. Thanks homedg for a nice cache in a great location.

This one was where we expected and the walk up from the gates and back along the ring track was very pleasant. I can't remember doing that section before but I have enjoyed many other walks around this mountain where I grew up. Thanks for the cache. Took a very cool geocahing tatoo and left a mini Trangia carabiner.
Forgot to log. Can't remember details. See Greenblob's entry. (The family that geocaches together argues forever.)
Started up the top of mt keira
there was a wedding and little parking
we decided to head down the bottom
This then turned into going to the scout camp? gizmo wasnt working goodly
We then headed to the bottom of Queen Elizabeth
took the ring track and might i say that is a MIGHTY climb.

Every time we have been here there is always a lot of elderly lady bushwalkers setting off along one of the tracks and today was no exception. So if you where an older bloke into bushwalking wanting to meet that special lady this might be the location for you.
Took the long way there. But found it after all those steps. Love the forest approaching from below.

This looks like a lovely track. Got to gz ok and startled a large deer in the process. Once at gz the cache was found without too much trouble in a good hiding spot. TNLN Thanks homedg
Dashed up here after grabing two other nearby new caches. Brought BigDadB along with me and it was he who made the find. It's been a while since I've walked the whole ring track but it brought back fond memories. Thanks homedg. Great work!
Fun activity used to break up a long day at leadership training with scouts. You're all lucky that we didn't come prepared with membership forms and rover stickers.

Spent the weekend at the nearby Scout Camp and dragged a few folks out for some caching (hopefully get some converts out of the exercise - got at least 1 by the looks of the logs!). The cache was quickly found, and the log book signed by all present. No swaps.

#276 in our quest for 300! The powerlines played havoc on our GPS so we used the phone a friend option. Nice one to start off our day TNLN.
I haven't walked this track for years, and this gave me an excuse to walk at least 100metres of it. Thanks for the cache. Greg

Found it or rather stumbled upon it, some days you are lucky. Our GPS was of little value here, it couldn't make up its mind which way was north, south, east or west. Signed the log only as I had forgotten to pack some swaps. Thanks for the cache.
Found it this time and didn't take too long after a widened the search area. Done quickly from the car. TNLNSL.
Took the easy way in off the road but searched high and low (mainly low) without success. Had a bit of trouble getting a lock on GZ which perhaps didn't help.

Too hot for long walks today, seriously! So, took the 60 second option, 60 seconds from car to GZ. Cache took a few minutes to find, it's not hard and no where near the "edge".
Took the stubby holder, left an electronic key finder and the TB.
Drove up to the lookout to have a quick gander and head down into cooler, lower elevations.
Cheers

Unlucky today with this one. Searched and searched before coming quiet close to the edge. Will try another day.
Spent a long time looking around at the new co-ords without a lot of luck. We were just about to call it a DNF and thought we might have a look around the original marks and bingo there it was just when we were about to throw in the towel. Clever hide homedg. Exchanged one TB for another.
I was FTF and didn't have any undue difficulty in locating this hide. GZ was off by around 6-10m which isn't too bad under tree cover. The hide is a bit tricky because there are quite a few places to look, but I wouldn't say it is a case of haystacking at all. R.
