Had a look around for this one but couldn't find anything near the hint location. Didn't see updated Co-ordinates in the logs till after we'd finished looking. TFTC. Was a great view and well worth the hike.
Am in need of some walking time to prepare for an upcoming tramp around Stewart Island. Was suggested this walk would be a good starter and as there were several caches on the walk it all made sense. So headed out with Mr HeMaLuDy for an attempt at this and just maybe a few park and grabs afterwards.YAY the TOP! Couldn't find this and it was only after reading some previous logs where better coords were mentioned did we find the cache (I'll repost as they are WAY down in the logs now - S 37 12.478 E 175 01.404)Glad to have made the top. Had some lunch and a chat with a few others that had made their way up, a quick snack and on our way back down.TFTC
Today's leg of the Te Araroa trail took me from Ramarama, through Bombay, over Mount William, through cattle fields over a canal and beneath a motorway to finish off in Mercer, a busy day of around 30km walking.Along the way I managed to stop to catch my breath and find a couple of caches, my thanks to the cache owner for placing this stash making my day more enjoyable cheers.-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... We had a job to complete in nearby Maramarua. This put us conveniently in the vicinity of Mt William. We'd talked about doing this walk one day... Well, that day arrived!
We approached from the Puketutu Road end, and it was both a commitment and a labour to make up here. We chose the right day to visit. The sun was just warm enough to burn off the fog, but conditions were still a bit slippery underfoot. We passed one walker as we made the slight grind uphill. Once at ground zone, our iPhone gps swung all over the place. We searched a whole lot of hosts methodically before that feeling of defeat started to bite. We were fairly determined to find this hide, so a quick scan of previous logs gave us some ideas. After some more circling, we finally struck the right one. We're glad to knock this one off today. Thanks cj.trex. TFTC.

was in area today for work with Squirrel nutcase.
Mt William was one of these area's with a cache we always said, must do that one day.
now with some new caches here and track due to close for a few weeks for lambing.
day looked as it was going to be a fine day.as we travelled through the Waikato in heavy fog
hoped area would be clear.
sure enough day couldn't of been better.
track was slippery at the top but in great condition through the bush
this cache took us a while to find under one of the many rocks.
great view here today

At the top on this trail and with a nice 360 view....the sky was clear as cyclone Gabrielle had left the area, but leaving in it's wake many ponds in the lower lying areas....
The cache was all good.

A solo excursion for Mr Coblet.
I have been wanting to climb Mount William for a long time and today seemed a perfect opportunity to finally do that as I had the day off work and the weather was looking good.
I parked at the end of McMillan Road just after 7am and thought I was early so was surprised to find there were already two cars in the carpark.
After a lovely walk through the bush finding caches along the way I headed upwards across the farmland towards the summit.
It was a nice walk and not too steep but I had to watch my footing in some places.
I could see the trig in the distance and it gave me motivation to continue although it didn't take me as long to get there as I was expecting.
Once at the top I had a rest and enjoyed the view before setting my sights on this cache.
I tried a few potential spots but had no luck so I read a few of the previous logs and saw that others had also had a bit of trouble.
I paused my search when I saw a couple of muggles approaching from the other end of the track so I sat down and had a bite to eat.
The muggles soon arrived and were a couple of very nice ladies who I had a lovely chat with about the view and the many other wonderful walkways around the area.
They were the owners of the two cars I had seen in the carpark and had arrived at 6am for an early start. They lived in the Bombay area but had never been up here before and had really enjoyed their experience, especially the views.
They were very keen walkers and had made plans for the Tongariro crossing and some overnight hikes in the coming weeks. Quite inspirational.
Once we had finished talking they continued on their way and I returned to the hunt for this cache.
The co-ordinates provided by some previous finders were very helpful and I soon saw a very promising hiding place where I was very pleased to find the cache. Whew!
The cache is in great condition and the log was dry. It's always nice to find these older caches which have stood the test of time.
Once I had returned the cache to its hiding spot I admired the view one more time before heading back down towards the bush.
Thanks cj.rex fort placing the cache in such an awesome location. I really enjoyed my walk up here today and the views are absolutely stunning.
A favouirite point for the location and for the challenge.

Queen's Birthday long weekend.
It is time for a hike! Mt William here I came!
At last I had this spot on my TO DO list for a long time.
Weather was perfect but track was slippery at most of the places after recent rain we had.
Beautiful views! I did enjoy it!
Finding the cache was a different story. There is nothing at GZ. Then started reading previous logs and I did use provided additional waypoint and still nothing!
Hey! Expanded my area and I was able to find the cache about 5m away ... This is when you are using multiband GPS and accuracy up to 1.8m .... well it took me about 30 minutes or so to find this cache. Well done to me
TFTC!
Just in case my GZ was at S 37° 12.479 E 175° 01.401

After seeing a few dnf's, thought I would have a go. Spent more than an hour looking amongst the rocks and was relieved to final find it when I had almost given up. Was close to coord's in log. Nice views.
Tried everywhere. I don’t know if it was just me but my partner and I had trouble.
After seeing Mount Williams on a recent episode of Seven Sharp, a plan was made with Merlot58 and Nette to check out this mountain. After being locked up in Auckland for over 100 days it was the furtherest south we had been in over 100 days because of the COVID-19 lockdown.
This was our last cache on the mountain today, and with 3 of us searching we soon found the cache at the coordinates mentioned in previous logs. We made our way to the trig, where we stopped for a snack and to admire the views before heading back down the hill the way we had come. TFTC

With the new co-ords mentioned in previous logs this cache didn't take too long to find and once the log was signed we continued to the top to admire the view
A bit of a huff and a puff to get up the hill for me.
Too many days in lock down.
With new cords Merlot made a quick find.

A muggle friend sat on a rock, whilst I searched under/around another rock
It was only on her moving that I was able then to search that rock, and there was the cache.
Walking North to South along the Mt William walkway, thankfully overcast with a threat of rain.
Happy to find, thanks for hiding, no problems with the cache today!

Had planned a much longer walk for today but weather forecast was not looking good so decided to try something closer to home and shorter - this fit the bill.
Windy up here but great views and well worth the walk.
Followed the gps but no luck. Started to look at previous logs and noted some new coordinates (I'll repost as they are WAY down in the logs now - S 37° 12.478 E 175° 01.404). These were great and as I walked up towards one of the rocks I could see it hiding in its hidey hole.

We approached from the Northern side and had grand views as we undulated to the final climb. Mrs Oz in NZ like a mountain goat charged off before we had set the GPS to alpenmilche80's coords, and didn't find the cache. When she returned to the stile where Mr Oz in NZ was resting we reset the waypoint to these excellent coords which proved to be spot on and led immediately to the cache. Thanks cj.trex for this placement, it had been at least a couple of decades since we last visited; before we owned a GPS.
So pleased to make it to the top, and what a view. Definitely worth the climb. We spent quite a while looking for this cache, but did not want to DNF. We read previous logs, found some alternative coordinates and widened our search area. Mr HeMaLuDy was adamant we were in the wrong place with the amended coordinates, but there was a very likely hiding place there. He searched one side of it with no luck - only about 10 mins later and after much searching elsewhere did he return and search the other side and came up with the cache straight away. Pleased to turn this into a smiley.
We have been talking about walking to the top of Mt William for quite a while now - each time we rode past it on a trip down country. So on the day out of another lockdown we took a walk with friends to get some exercise before a long trip we have planned in a months time. We decided to take the easier route from Puketutu Road end.
On the drive down a heavy band of showers went through, and as none of us had packed rain jackets we were wondering if it was a good idea, but we were happy to see much finer conditions when we arrived at the start of the track. We had a pleasant but breezy walk to the top and saw quite a few others along the way. Lots of sheep droppings to avoid along the way and even saw a flock of turkeys half way along the track.
The top was very windy at the trig point but out of the wind down by GZ (which I had noticed the correct coordinates for), found the cache soon after hunting around some obvious targets. All good here, grabbed the TB. TFTC.

Been on my list for a while to tick this one off and wasn't disappointed with the view. The cache proved a little more elusive but got there in the end after reading some previous logs as my phone battery was about to die. Appears my east and the cache owners east are slightly different. TB dropped off, thanks for bringing me here
Hooray we made it. What a great spot up here. Views right round. The communication things on the way up had the wind blowing on them. Sounded very musical like. Quite cool. Took a bit to locate right spot. Almost disturbed a nest of paper wasps further over. Dot watched then finally came down to find it straight away. Lol. Typical. Lol. Tftc
Having finished with my work commitments for the week I had some spare time today to go out and find a few caches. I headed off in a south - east - north - west kind of loop. Had a good time with a variety of caches found along the way. I've had my eye on this track for a while but never had the time to stop by and go for a walk. Today I did and really enjoyed it. This was not a quick or easy find. I searched for a while without any result. I then looked at some of the logs and updated my coordinates and took note of wetbootsnz's impressions. There were still a few options but I did eventually get my hands on the cache. All good in the end. TFTC, Biggles.
Found for the 3,2,1, Go challenge. Nice, but strenuous hike to the top. Nicely hidden. Tftc
Very nicely hidden and fun finding.
Found together with Pyphant and Piratenschatzsucher and signed as team Piraten. Thanks for hiding and maintaining.

We went up to Mount Williams today for the first time. Ufff. A more strenuous tour than we had expected. We reached the top pretty exhausted but the nicely hidden cache was a quick find. We used Alpenmilch's coordinates and also found wetbootsnz's log very helpful.
Fourth find for today! All in pretty good condition here and fun to find! Tftc

This was starting to frustrate and perplex then read a few logs and realised the search needed widening. Loved the location tho, fav point for bringing us here
Cache is ok, we leave the TB in the cache, it was our last day in NZ

Luckily I checked logs last night...and put alpenmilch80's
Coords in my phone.
Made the find pretty easy!
Was a bit windy up at the trig!
Awesome views thanks !

Ha! Luckily stopped for a few breaths on the last steps up to the trig... and howdy there you are. Placed TB
Thoroughly enjoyed the walk up here today but this cache took far longer in the hot sun than it should have done!! Once I read previous logs and we widened the search area my muggle hubbie was on to it. TFTC
DNF had to give up one this one, thankfully the weather was
fine and warm. 3 out of 4 not bad 1 DNF under a rock, gave up and
headed back down for the mud again.

2921 Arrived at GZ to find 20 people sitting there having their lunch. Had a chat to them and thankfully by the time I had had my sandwich and drink they had moved on. Then it was off to make the find. Signed the log and grabbed the TB and headed off back down before the next shower of rain came over. Nice to clear the mountain of caches. Thanks for the placement.
Alright so by the time I got to the treeline, it was basically pouring rain but having come that far already I had to keep going, not realizing just how much further it was to the cache. Once at GZ some questionable coords had me searching frantically all over the hilltop trying to stay warm in the driving wind and rain, until finally I spotted probably the most obvious spot on the hill (next to the path too) and sure enough there she was all along! Quickly signed in and placed a TB and got the hell off that hill! The sheep chuckled amongst themselves as I trudged past, head down, face dripping, and I averted my gaze. TFTC!
I think I made it up here twice before, but never found the cache. Armed with a new set of coords, I thought I might try once again. I went to the top and admired the view while I caught my breath. Then I went to the new coords and found it in the first place I looked. TFTC.
Well well this took us ages evening using the alternate coordinates in the other logs(which we pretty close BTW). We were searching with three of us and still not coming up with the goods. We were just about to give up when RWIMF said "it has to be under this one" even though we probably looked at it 10 times already. Well one more time for me and I spotted an area we had missed and sure enough there was the cache. TFTC
OMG it took us an hour! that is the longest I have ever searched for one cache in my life. We searched around EVERY rock on the hill by the end, and had had 2 groups of muggles through. I'd sat on the hidy spot twice during that time, and made comment about moss & lichen looking like it could be a cache container lid (it wasn't - it was a rock). We just literally had not looked at 360 degrees of the hidey spots with the rock, and of course it was hiden in the less obvious bit. I'd even gone through the stages of "we can just give up... no, god damn it it has to be here.... grass is making me itchy... stupid tunnel weave spiders... OWWW I fell on a prickle... maybe I can hide a new one and claim I found it... I wish it was under this rock", and of course that's when mr beconaze saw it. Stupid cache. Stupid me deciding to do the Waikato mountain challenge this summer.
Yipee, my 2nd attempt while tramping with a meetup group. Found some 20M from GPS ground Zero, but that was moving around so it probably me\it and not the cache itself at issue. 30 amused muggles watched me and a couple joined in. Glad i was the one to finally find it. Looks like i converted me a muggle (michaelteacher )
First up we made sure we had sufficient car-space at each end to only need a one-way traverse of the track, then headed off up the hill 'towards' Mt William. The sun came out and made this quite a warm stroll across the farmland. After the final push up to the summit we began to search for the cache. Not sure whether it is a case of cache-creep, or just co-ordinates taken years ago on an old GPS, but we needed to greatly expand our search area from the official GZ. Using some co-ords posted by previous finders helped, but there were still a lot of places that fitted the Hint that needed to be checked - and it felt like we checked every one of them before we came up with the goods. Then it was time to sit down, eat some lunch, and admire the great views from up here. Thanks.
This was the 2nd mountain of the day for our group of 7. Arranged parking at each end so we just needed to do a one way trip. Amazing views from the top and although it took a while to locate the cache YK83 did the honours. Made the most of the opportunity for a sit down and a bit more lunch before descending in the bush area and slippery tracks. Thanks for bringing us here.
A group of us from Auckland (Team Welsh, avoyager, Trout Fly, kiwicouple, vamber and yorkshirekiwi83) headed down to Waikato to target one of the mountains for the Mountain challenge, as a group popping down here there always seems to be 7 of us, so we signed today as Always 7. We decided prior that we would also target Mount William on our way home.
Parked some cars at the top end and some at the bottom so it would be a one trip journey, set off from the top and walked up to the point, then the searched started, used previous finders closer coords and finally we got there, lots of possibilities and we searched all of them before we got the goods. Now lunch time and enjoyed the wonderful views. TFTC

Out and about with the 7 wonders of the caching world, (signed the log Always 7). Great views for the stop and a bite to eat. Getting pretty hot, now!! Thanks.
A group of seven of us today (vamber, avoyager, trout-fly, yorkshirekiwi83, kiwicouple, Team Welsh) saw us tackling some of the mountains in the Waikato to slowly knock off the mountains for a Waikato Mountain Challenge cache. We signed the log as, "Always 7" as word has it, they frequently seem to venture out as a group of seven.
After doing a bit of a car juggle so that this was a one way trip, we made this climb through the farmland in the warm summer sun. Enjoyed a spot of lunch at the top, and eventually located the container after a bit of a search. Now time to admire the views before we made our way to the other end. A lovely spot here, thanks for sharing!

Took 2 of us 30mins to find it, the coordinates need changing was super hard to find
An later than usual start for today's caching mission, but as the wife was coming along and not the usual crew a pre-dawn start was never going to be on the cards. The days plan was a hike in the Hunua Ranges plus a few other finds in the area which suit a challenge I'm working on. We managed to located everything we hunted for, and got some stunning weather to boot, so a great day all round.
I was in two minds to continue on up to the summit after I found the other cache I hadn't found on Mr William as I had multiple conflicting information about whether this track was open or not. Checked on the DOC website and it said that McMillian track to Mt William Summit was open, but Puketutu track and Puketutu Summit was closed. I've placed a screen shot of the not on the DOC website in the log. Arriving at the start of the track there were sign's saying that the top half of the track was closed? A bit confused now. Decided to continue on to the end of the track and make a decision there. The paddocks looked very empty, and the fact that the track official opens in 4 days we decided to make our way to the summit, being very watchful of any sheep and being prepared to turn around if needed if we spotted any sheep and lambs nearby.
Managed to get to the summit with only seeing a few sheep in the distance, and used the coords in the logs to narrow GZ down. A bit of a hunt before the cache was found. Great views up here, though didn't hang around for to long as a very territorial magpie started dive bombing us so decided we better head back.
Sorry if I have found this cache when I shouldn't, but the DOC signs are very confusing.

Slept in today and decided to go for a quick tramp up Mt Wellington together with a friend. Took a while to locate but after reading logs and with the new coords the geocache was quickly found. TFTC

Wow! Got sick of this close to home cache still being on my unfound list so dropped the kids at school and headed up on this windy rainy day! Questioned my sanity several times when I had to sit down to stop being blown off the mountain. Extended my search further from the trig than last time and used coordinates posted in a log below and SUCCESS. No TBs as listed in inventory though, only a marble and pencil and log inside. Tftc and the adventure!!
Driven past and around so many times but never had the change to get up.
Nice stroll up the hill with TucanoVic from Brazil and his 8.5 kg back pack.
He's training to come with the big boyz on an overnight trip.
Took a wee while before the cache was found. The extra cords from one of the previous logs helped.
Great views today in all directions.

Feel like me and two boys checked every rock within 30 metres in eastern side. A bit disappointing that logged coordinates seem to be so far out as would have been one of the crew's first cache. Perhaps needs to be updated by owner or more guidance given please!
The day before the storm, cant beleive it right now. A perfect day for a walk up here TB dropped off, picked it up at Mt Te Aroha so dropping it at another Mt just not quire as high.
Hunted for 30 minutes! Then read previous logs with coordinates and soon found...TFTC
First find on my little big walk. No problems finding this one, all the caches were in good order Grabbed TB. Took a considerable time to find this, had to wait for some people to leave as I was halfway through the search.. Thanks for the updated coords though meant I was searching in the right area.

Fabulous views, worth the climb. Lots of likely hiding places but found it eventually. Sorry Penelope had to leave you as we didn't have anything to leave. Could not sign either. Forgot pen!! Still abit new to this and not too organised. Thanks
Grrrrr amazing views and huge walk but no treasure found today even expert jazzmo couldn't locate. Will def be back to try again.
Morning walk with 007bondfamily. Looked under every rock we could find but didn't come up with the cache. Time ran out, had to head back so now we have a reason to head back up this hill another day.
I was out for a hike today on Mt William Walkway with lochnessmonsta and alligatorsnz. This cache took a bit of searching - the co-ordinates were out a bit and everything matched the hint! But with 3 of us searching, we eventually came up with the cache! Great views from up here - favourite point added! TFTC!

illuded me well last time, recall turning over every location in the area, but this time its just seemed to jump in to the hands of accompaing Vistra or was it just the magnetic attaction ? i am sure i looked there last time.. maybe its been hiding and come back recently .. lol ... some where between bit more than 12, bit less thatn 20m East of trig...
Awesome day, awesome views, isn't geocaching a great thing. Cache in good order but probably closer to 25m from the trig.

Lunch stop, searched and searched and searched some more, but no luck after more than 20 minutes.
Came up here on a gem of a day. Started from the Puketutu Road side. High visibility made for incredible 360 degree views from up here. Met a couple of locals at the summit that grew up in the area. They have been regularly coming up here over the last 60 years. They had some interesting stories of area land ownership and changes of landscapes over the years. Managed to snag the new/replacement hide in between a bus load of struggling Asian tourists. Fave point from me. Thanks for the cache and the replacement.
Sorry for the late log. Fun walk with friends. Stopped at the top for lunch, had a few helpers to find the cache
Thanks
Thanks
Mike summed it up quite nicely but it definitely was a fun old trip out here. Navigating the sheep was easy but those magpies were on fine form, though I was grateful they seemed more attracted to mike-miss than myself. No views to speak of today, but the fog created a nice eerie atmosphere all of its own.
Replaced the cache under the careful watch of a nearby magpie and then ran the gauntlet back to safety. TFTC

After claiming 3 joint FTFs this morning with evilno9 along the McMillan Road track, we continued along the track to the edge of the bush and noted that the farm was still closed for lambing. We turned around and headed back the same way. On our way back down to the car we decided we'd head to the Puketutu Rd entrance and try our luck. As luck would have it, this track was open so we headed up through the farmland to the trig. This was my first time heading up Mt William from this side and the walk certainly is alot easier and shorter!
As we approached the final leg of the walk, we could hear a few magpies making a fair bit of noise in the trees closeby. Not really paying attention to the surroundings, a magpie decided he'd target me and made a good effort at divebomibing my head about 5 times. The magpies must be nesting and it would pay to be on the lookout for them as they got fairly close to my head each time.
Arriving at GZ, the mist was very low and there was no view to be had this morning unfortunately. As i'd been up here a few months ago and searched every rock on the eastern side of the trig, both myself and evilno9 had another quick search but still came up with nothing.
I had brought a spare cache in my backpack so decided i'd replace this cache, seeing as there will be more visitors now that there's 3 new caches in the area.
The cache is now a small camo'd sistema container under a large rock but about 15-20m east of the trig and held in place by another smaller rock.
While signing the new log, i averaged another set of coordinates and these are:
S37 12.478 E175 01.402
Thanks for bringing me up here again!

yep same here.. made the climb only to find no sight of the cache and to think last time i was up here i rated it boring so no reason to come back, then i spied the cache and thought it was worth another - shame i didnt get to reading the logs until i was nearly there...
also looked under every rock around the summit and to 30m below - there where some jolly good hiding spots but none seemed to have any thing in it... Still i see there have opened up another length of track past the summit so perhaps there is a reason to come back again = hopefully its back by then. ( might be worth nothing that this part of track in the farm land is closed during the lambing season..)

Pretty gutted having to log a DNF on this one after checking every rock in the vicinity on the eastern side of the trig. Enjoyed the walk up though in the sunshine this afternoon. Very muddy and slippery in places though. Spent way too long at GZ and ended up leaving as the sun was getting lower in the sky.
Ill be back another time and give the Puketutu Road a go next. Thanks for bringing me up here anyways, the views are amazing!

2nd time I have been up with no joy! It is a very stunning view on a clear day! And a very enjoyable stroll. Hopefully I'm just missing something and it hasn't actually disappeared.
Remember to take binoculars with you on this walk! The views are so big and extensive, the enhancing vision tool is definitely an asset.
We did the 5km return open farmland walk from Puketutu Rd. With such great weather we just dawdled along enjoying the views and sheep. An easy walk to GZ at this time of year and a quick cache find.
Sat at the trig for a while picking out varying points of interest. On the return we did the detour up to Puketutu trig for the ever expanding city views to the north.
Great cache, gets a favourite.

As with other cachers this cache has always been out on a limb. I have always been passing it by as I have travelled to other caches. This morning I made a concerted effort to tick this one off.
I came in from the McMillan Rd end and with a bit of a huff and puff (and a few stops to admire the views) I managed to get to the top. There are great views to the South and West mainly.
Cheers for the cache.
Well this one has annoyed us ever since it was placed, always so close on every trip south, yet knowing it would take a little effort to actually get it. So finally today we struck out with the sole intention of knocking the b@stard off and did so at a cracking pace. The views were worth the effort, and it wont annoy us any more.

I've been meaning to get to this one for the longest time now. Today was the day. Great weather for it. Many local muggles agreed as the car-park was full. After collecting Poppa, with the Future Finder in tow, we headed for the McMillian trailhead. We figured a bush walk would be more enhancing than countryside. The Future Finder wasn't really up to the steep bits, so we took turns piggy-backing him up (and then down) the mount. A two hour round trip in the end with an elevation gain of 315m. Not to shabby with a six year old on your back. Spledid views at the top. Cache was easily found and I was surprised to find it dry--if showing the signs of being previously wet. Cheers for the cache an the exercise!
Don't have time to get to GZ.
Will try again another day, but will allow at least 2 hours for the round trip from the car park (McMillan Rd), especially if muddy like today and have kids it tow.
Nice walk, none the less. Thanks.

Beaut sunny day for a walk. We're on a roll today. 2 for 2 so far. Box is wet, contents soggy. Needs a new log with sealed box.
I parked my car at the end of Puketutu Road, easily found the start of the Mt.William trail.... and lost the trail almost immediately by own fault.
So I just followed that little nasty red arrow on the GPS and had a really hard approach to the cache..... funny, however.
At GZ the box was quickly spotted. The box is OK, but anything is wet and gray in there....
For the way back I could luckily manage to follow the trail - quite helpful as it was turning dark quickly.

Went in from McMillan Road carpark and didnt sort out the different tracks. Ended up doing the Kauri Trail for 2 hrs. Very nice walk but wrong hill for the cache. We will return when we have recovered.
Not the best day to do this one in the full sun, but has great views on a day like this. Time for a ice cream or two after this.
Took a walk up from SH2 side with bjarni1. It was insanely humid and had to take a well deserved sit down while we signed the log. Left it open to dry while we recovered but was still damp when we put it back. TFTC
Walked in from the Puketutu Road end. A fantastic morning for the trip. No wind, clear skies and great views. Needed to resort to the clue and then the cache was quickly in hand. Log book is very wet. Struggled to sign it. Can the next visitor please take a replacement. Sat on the convenient bench for a snack and a drink. About 40 mins in and about 30 mins out. Most enjoyable.

This has been one of those "I'll do it one day" caches for over 2 years now, today was finally that day, got to the start of the track at the Puketutu end at around 6.30am for the run up to the trig, for a while the cache was not getting any closer but was soon making progress, it took me 16 minutes to run/walk to the top, another 5 minutes to find the cache and then 12 minutes to get back to the van, logbook was wet but managed to make my mark.
Thanks for the early morning excercise!!

Mr P said this reminded him of a Short Walk in the Hindi Kush... it was almost a drive by .... if you were using a helicopter. Excellent day for a wee walk and happy to find the cache in the middle of it. t4tc (Log wet)
Not to bad a walk in via puketutu rd entrance. Think about 35 mins to gz at comfortable pace.

Walked up in the late afternoon haze of a nice sunny day. Could see Rangiototo, Tamahanga to the north, Karioi and the spreading bulk of Pirongia to the south, the chipped and pointed skyline of the coromandels behind the bush clad Hunuas in the East. Not too many views like this close to Auckland. T4TC
