Adelaide Trip. May 2021. Day 4. Today dawned wet and windy, but after the family walk up the hill to get the paper I headed off for a walk around Blackwood for the Adventure labs there, before heading down to Coromandel Valley for a Multi and another set of Adventure Labs with a bonus for my puzzle of the day.

I am sure I have started this one before, but today with none of the information in hand i visited the two waypoints and calculated a GZ that looked good. I was happy when I walked over that I also found the cache in good condition. A few fun facts about the area. the signs are great value.

Thanks.

While in Adelaide-town for a bit we headed out this afternoon for a jaunt around the hills and stopped by Coro-Valley to say g'day to a mate... While passing by Waving Willy, we stopped by and grabbed the info needed there (shame you can't get closer to the old biscuit factory really - we tried, sadly, it's private property now)... After a headed off to complete stage 2... Once at GZ the cache quickly revealed itself. Thanks much for highlighting the areas history and the hide here stanleys. We enjoyed this one - FP for you.

A lovely evening for a walk around a very pretty area. I had sir_spectre keeping me company and one track to the cache.

Yaayyhh... tftc. . . AND ... guess what... there's a crossing... you dont have to get back in your car and drive around back roads like a doofas to find GZ

Solved easily and the cache was found reasonably quickly Smile TFTC

26-Oct-20
Solved the coords, and soon uncovered the cache TFTC, we had fun

09-Aug-20
Looked long and hard for this one at GZ and found nothing. Confident my coordinates were right. Will be back, was a great and informative multi.

18-Jul-20
We have replaced the log book today.

24-Jun-20
I started 2020 with some improbable caching goals that only lasted until mid February. Red Face
Then came Covid-19 and caching began to take a back seat. Twisted
But with restrictions easing and socially responsible caching again possible it is time to start filling the calendars again. Wink
Yet again I needed a multicache to fill the calendar and so I set off in pursuit of this one. Razz The weather was overcast but the actual rain stayed away whilst I collected the information required. [^] No so on the final walk to GZ. The cache was found and stamped. Smile It too had succumbed to the weather and the log book was damp and mouldy. unfortunately i was in no position to replace it. Twisted It will need a new log book!

***Thanks Team_Crumble for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Big Grin
Logs prepared and published through GSAK.

I started this multi a few months ago when I was house sitting in the area, as a local council worker was mowing the grass near GZ, I thought I’d return another day. Back today and with no one in the area a quick fi d was made.

12-May-19
Cruising around in the area picking up a few stragglers and this one was on my map. Shortly afterwards, I was at GZ where a nice easy find was made. There was a bit of water inside, so I rescued the TBs so they don’t go rusty.

Thanks for the cache stanleys.

Out for a Sunday walk with both geo-pups. Nice to find this one after almost a year since it was last discovered. Great history and great multi, fave from us. TFTC

18-Feb-18
After briefing H four hundred and twenty three L about the fantastic little tour around the area with this cache, we did the cache. I'd done this cache over 10 years ago and remembered it was a quaint cache. So good we dropped off a TB here. There was finally consensus about the good to humanity these actions would bring. Clear skies from TeamAstro Smile

13-Jan-18
An outing today with a mission to find a handful of Stanleys caches. This was the first on the list. Found WP1 easily as we lived a few hundred metres from here years ago. Some very interesting history here. Off to WP2 and more great history. Then the rain started! Mr C wasnt prepared for rain, so we quickly walked to GZ , signed the log and decided to call off the mission and grab a coffee until it eased off. TFTC Smile

Out on a morning walk through this beautiful area. Nice little multi. Took a little bit of time to get info and a nice walk to get to each WP. Thanks for the history and the cache.

12-Oct-17
Nice little multi. Had to read information carefully. Completed over 2 days. Cache is wet on inside and needs attention. However the logbook is dry in its plastic bag. Thanks for the cache Smile

17-Jul-17
found with getnict. We where in that much of a rush to get through the multi that both of us left our stamps in the car. Signed log in pencil. The storm hit us on the return 1/3 of the way back doing the linear trail. Some more history I didn't know about doing this multi. quick find at gz.

04-Jun-17
Was out on a beautiful afternoon with Tomboy and we stopped off here after completing the Linear Park Walk. [^]
Tomboy had already found this one so I gathered all the required info and we headed off to WP2. [^]
Again gathered what I needed and worked out my coordinates for GZ. [^]
Headed off to GZ and after a little walk the cache was found. Big Grin
I love these multis where I learn a bit of history while seeing some interesting places. Cool
Thanks for the cache stanleys. Smile

Stopped at WP1 after completing the Linear Park Walk and collected the required numbers before returning to our vehicle Smile and driving to WP2 [8]. This place was familiar Wink - again, collected the numbers, then walked around to GZ Razz.
TN. Left a tennis ball. SL.
Thanks Stanleys.

27-Jan-17
We picked up the info on this one a month or so ago, but the final location seemed to be very busy at the time.

Today we were travelling through the area and the place seemed deserted, so went in for the find on the cache. We initially found ourselves on the wrong side of the water, and the fence! After finding an appropriate crossing point we soon had the nicely hidden cache in hand. Turns out the crowds probably wouldn't have noticed us here after all. Sweet!

Thanks stanleys.

Being on holidays I have been trying to cross a few multi caches of my list. Today I did this one. The info was grabbed easily and then a short walk to find the cache. TFTC

15-May-16
Had an hour to spare and wanted to tick this multi off my list. Did not know that Coro had a biscuit factory and loved the memorial. Learnt a bit, then tracked down the cache, signed the log and headed home with a smile on my face. The cache container had water in it and the log was slightly damp.tftc

08-May-16
Finally did this cache after completing all the traditional caches in Coro Valley and thought it was high time to tick this one off the list, and very pleased to do so as I learnt a lot about the history of the area. A nice easy multi that was fun to do, as I used to visit these areas as a kid back in the 80's. Found cache with lid open and log book next to the container, but the TB was still there after about 3 months. Signed log and took TB to continue its travels. TFTC Stanleys

A Rat, an Owl and a Locus set out for a day of adventure.
Doctor Owl had done the working out on this one.
Loved the art work on the rocks and building.
We wandered over to GZ, a lovely spot.
Locus made the find. tftc

30-Sep-15
Doctor Owl asked me to accompany her and SA Sewer Rats on a caching day.
An early start and an early finish made it a very different day for me Wink
All up, it was a quality not quantity caching day as we targeted specific caches for a variety of reasons.
At the end of the day, I was very happy with my 14 finds Smile

Thanks to Doctor Owl's efforts, we had a multi to find [^]
A nice place for a wander and to watch some energetic dogs running, playing and enjoying the sunny day Cool
It was also funny watching a less energetic dog growl at SA Sewer Rats as she got too close to its human beings and its food Wink

Owl was out with Locuscache and SA Sewer Rats. Having completed the necessary waypoints on 2 previous trips, only to be halted by torrential rain, Owl was keen to finish this little multi off and was prepared to share the glory with her fellow cachers. A nice walk in a very pleasant area got them to a logical hide. Thanks for the fun!

Lucky for us we parked at WP2 to go for a walk after dropping the geomiss off at the community centre for a party. Once we returned it was a quick calculation of the final coordinates and a short walk to gz to sign the log. TFTC.

This was my first multi. And my first night time cache. Very well done, makes you really think and I wish more caches were a mix of educational and enjoyable like this one. This is a favourite of mine for sure. Thanks

Found on a cold, wet Wednesday night. So much fun it was even worth stepping into a knee deep puddle. TFTC Smile

18-Jun-14
Replaced log book. Removed old torn, illegible pages. Left a few swaps for the kids. Enjoy!

16-Jun-14
Lovely spot. Nice to find one so close to home I didn't think there were any here! As per previous log the log book was torn up so didn't bother to sign. Will drop off a new one on our next walk by so others can enjoy. TFTC

07-May-14
Had done the first waypoint a week ago, and today sorted out the second waypoint & found GZ. Seemed to be well hidden now, but as a previous log mentioned - log book in tatters. Some interesting history doing this cache - thanks for taking us to these spots Stanleys & TFTC.

11-Jan-14
Needs serious maitenance as log book is torn in to pieces and contents missing. Probably needs new coordinates as GZ is obviously too obvious.

10-Jan-14
This was a very disappointing cache. Was looking on the Geocaching map for caches with Trackables in them and saw this cache. Easy first clues took us to WP2. Got the wrong coordinate so was looking for a cache in 2ks away. Knew it wasn't there so went back to WP2 to try and see where we made a mistake. Fixed the mistake and walked to GZ. At GZ found the cache easily because it was out in the open without its lid with the contents splayed out all over the ground. Picked everything up and put it all in the cache. But the one thing that I couldn't find was the one thing I wanted, The Geocoin.

17-Jul-13
Started on the 16th and finished on the 17th.
Left Highly addictive coin TB4R5FG
Thanks for the cache stanleys

08-Jun-13
Decided to hit some caches on the other side of Coromandel valley.
As the weather was acceptable any a long week-end ensured a day of caching to have.
This cache proved a great start, didn't walk this one. Good things too as I had some walking trails on my list. Thanks for the history lesson, no one at the park today, all the better for me though Smile

05-Oct-12
Started walking from WP1 but changed my mind because of the busy road, from WP2 had to back track a few times to find a way to the cache. I didn't realize the park was as extensive. Interesting cache in an interesting area. Left a keyring. TFTF

Revisited cache to drop off Bret the Rhymenocerous. Bret is a TB travelling from Canada to New Zealand. I found Bret on the other side of Coromandel Valley at Sandalwood secrets which was a pretty hard find. I have not helped Bret achieve his goal very well but I think at least he might move on a bit quicker from here than where he was before.

Did this one in multiple stages. As a resident of Coromandel Valley I was familiar with the local landmarks if not the details so no trouble finding WP 1 and 2 and working out the coodinates for the GZ which turned out to be very close to my daily dog walking route. I would not recommend walking between WP 1 and 2 as there is a busy road and an absence of footpaths. I have often reflected on what it was like for the residents of what must have been a very small community back in the time of WW1 and WW2.

My local knowledge hindered me in locating the cache itself as I kept being drawn to a spot my kids used to play, considering it an ideal spot for hiding a cache. I ignored the fact that this spot was right on the edge of the GZ and was thrown out by some clues in the previous logs. Overall it took me three trips to find this cache, one for WP1, one for WP2 and the GZ (cache not found on first visit) and nearly an hour to find the cache on my return to the GZ. The hiding place eventually discovered was a very short stone's throw from my dog walking route and I must have walked close by the hiding spot a hundred times or more (most of it as a muggle).

This is a good multi. Broke the pencil, will return equivalent next time I'm out with the dog!

Thanks for the history lesson. Loved the bit about the biscuit factory. I can just imagine the lovely aromas drifting across the valley from the factory. TFTC stanleys.

04-Aug-11
This one has been on my to do list for 8 or 9 months. Today was the day. I didn't know about the Biscuit factory at WP1, most interesting and possibly would have been delicious. Drove to WP2 because it was raining. Gathered the numbers at WP2 a location I had visited before. Then a nice short walk to GZ in the rain. I must come back with Toddler Tardis to play on the nearby playground and oval. SL. TFTC.

I have driven past the monument and memorials for years but never stopped to look further. This gave me the opportunity to do so. Took a TB. Thanks for the history lesson.

25-Mar-11
My first multi cache in awhile. This one was done in stages. Did stage 1 in the morning. In the late afternoon headed to stage two but couldn't work out how to get to the compass when inputting the waypoints....so back to the house for the google map. Then got a lift to waypoint 2. In my eagerness to find the cache nearly fell in the river. Took my new geocaching buddies Phil and Bill. Bill found the cache and I was able to deposit in a geocoin I'd brought with me from the United States. TFTC stanleys

06-Feb-11
We drove past the starting point to find a toilet and then decided to have a look at this one.
We enjoyed the finding of info. It was an impressive biscuit factory in it's day. And it made jam! Mmmm
Second WP was interesting because when we were here earlier I placed a gnome (GCA travel cache) in the tree planted and dedicated to Pve Alltree.
I wonder what the President of Turkey's address was? Why did he give it out - was he inviting everyone to come around for a cup of tea and some bikkies?
Made our way to the final WP past a party near the playground. I think it must have been for a youngun because there was a lot of babies and toddlers attending.
Find was quite straight forward, except for nasty looking cobwebs. Nicole was the final finder.

Arrived at the final site and thought 'Great" 2 picnics+ dogs, Children everywhere and an outside function in full swing in a nearby establishment. I smiled at them all as I followed the GPS which thankfully lead me out of sight to GZ. Swapped a NZ military button for a little jug TFTC and the time spent gathering the second clues. Our freedom cost many men everything.

Great Little tour of Coro. Thanks for the 20baht - duaghter was most impressed, thanks Fido&Rover!

24-Aug-09
Good fun cache. Found a money clip in the cache sorely lacking in cash, so we gave it 20 Baht.

Note: 20 THB is currently worth about 0.7 AUD but we have been steadily doping against the Baht for the last six months. So if you want to get the full 70 cents worth of value, you'd better be quick Wink

Very enjoyable few hours out with the geokids and a friend + more geokids + dog. Quite a troop !

Found WP2 easily enough - local knowledge meant I didn't really need the co-ords to find it ! But, then couldn't find the final WP3 - kept ending up in people's backyards however the math was done. After re-checking the geokids facts, remembered that I had just changed batteries on GPS for first time and maybe was the wrong datum ?

Yes ! - was about 240m due E and then found the cache in very likely place.

Left TB, took rubber spider.

Be careful with kids and this road - it's very busy. Would a new WP1A down the end of McNamara road be safer by taking people off the main road ?

TFTC and a great afternoon.
