Made a bridge to get across the creek with a plank found! Great find, wonder what FOX and BAT mean?

18-Feb-23
Finally able to put pen to paper.

Came here during winter (out of snake season) but creek was too wide for me to cross. Attempted this from the north, but too steep.

Lost a pair of glasses trying to cross the creek on time.

But today all things lined up

Cache still there.

Found with Team Waldron on a caching run to the northern, western and inner suburbs. We decided to target this particular cluster of caches before the day heated up too much. Found a suitable spot to cross the creek to get to the cache, and an even closer crossing on the way back to the path. Can confirm that the cache is in good order. Thanks for the cache SA_ParrotHead!

Today after the morning event I headed off with Featherwaite to grab some caches.

We went to all points of the compass.

Featherwaite made a quick find on this one.

21-Jan-21
This evening after work, I decided to travel north towards Salisbury Heights, Elizabeth and Craigmore, targeting a few geocaches that were well constructed caches with high Favourite Points, oldies, and attractive D/T geocaches. After taking a walk along Little Para River, I caught up with gridge98 and we then travelled around the vicinity, of which he helped to visit a few geocaches that he had once previously visited. A nice balmy evening of weather, and daylight savings allowed us to comfortably geocache until about 21:30 hr.

During my walk back along the valley, I called by this location, knowing it was a bit of a 2007 oldie. As I came along the river, I realised that this whole area has been impacted and burned from the grass fire a few weeks ago. Thus, I had my doubts that this cache was still around, but I thought I'd have a search anyway, and much to my astonishment, this cache is fine! Its hiding place protected the cache very well, and there doesn't appear to be any sign of a fire / heating of the sistema container! The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks SA_ParrotHead for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. I'm glad to see this cache living on another day!

Been a miserable morning today but the Sun has poked its head out from behind the clouds. Therefore Magic [8] and I decided to poke about in the shrubbery behind the Old Spot Hotel before the rain returned. Favourite Points were distributed today and a few Pathtags were dropped off for the next treasure seekers.
Got a little wet and one of us got a little bit more wet. A good day in the soursops!

It was a hard one to decide how to get to this cache, I decided to just run and jump across the creek right near GZ, all was good and I didn’t get wet, cache and contents are all good though. Should have just gone a little further up the river as there is a nice rock wall to get across

Today with uni now being placed online due to COVID-19 I decided to go for a walk and collect some caches early in the morning before it got to hot. Overall a nice morning walk and a few drive bus for 15 in total.

After making it across the running creek a likely spot emerged. "Who will put their hand in" I said to the geo-wife. Guess it will be me. Thanks

18-Feb-17
what can I say. A mild misty morning with long grass and a lot of dew. Those rocks were a little slippery and doubling back along the other side of the creek was quite an adventure. In fact, just the adventure I was seeking today.
Thank you very much!

06-Aug-16
Another lovely morning for a walk along these trails before market shopping (with wet feet). We didn't manage to find anywhere this morning to cross that wouldn't result in wet feet but the river is flowing well today and we have no sense of balance! We enjoyed seeing the revegatation work that is going on this this area.
Thanks for the hunt this morning SA ParrotHead Smile

Dodging a few showers we met up with Mattycat and decided a walk through this part of the little para river would burn off a little energy, finding a suitable crossing spot was more the challenge today after all the rain the little para was flowing well, cahe was found all safe and dry TFTC SA_ParrotHead Wink

06-Jul-16
Joined Mr and Mrs Froghoppin for some caching in the rain,
Well it did stop a couple of times, but was determined to make the Little Para into more of a river!
With the heavy rain we never quite made it up to the foxbat, but we did get between them Cool
Nicely hidden in the obvious spot - once we had forded the torrents and found a way in Razz

Today I spent a couple of hours picking up a few solved mysteries and nearby Traditionals in the Northern suburbs. The sun was shining - perfect weather for geocaching.

A suitable place to cross the water was located then it was an easy walk to the GZ. Quick find.

Thanks for the cache.

Well all I can say is I thoroughly enjoyed the cache trail, even though it was raining, windy, foggy, bloody slippery as buggery and nearly fell to my death. This certainly put a smile on my face. Thanks

Whilst Gugless went in to retrieve I looked for an easier way to cross. I found a lovely small trickling waterfall. And a great big log. Really nice to stop and have a drink. Then to cross. Lol tftc. Used reeds and rocks to balance above the water.

Well that was an adventure. Once we were close we followed some tyre tracks! down towards the creek. Found were people had crossed previously but the water was wider and flowing today. So we found another branch to add to the ones that were already there and jack went across and started searching.
Didn't take him long to find it...no pen. So he throws to across the water for me to sign and i throw it back to be put back. So glad we found it after all that.
Took mighty bean, left a couple of small toys.

We found an easy spot to cross the creek...even short legged me was able to step straight over itRazz and made our way to GZ. I made sure to make a lot of noise as we wandered through the long grass...with the weather warming up I reckon there must be a few slithery things waking up hungryTwisted

Co-ords were spot on and the cache was soon found, log signed and then replaced.

Thanks very much for the hide SA_Parrothead [^][^][^]

On our tour of Australia via Oz Mega we are currently staying nearby but today we had to take the GeoCruiser into the panel beaters after some damage at the Mega. Surprised

So now in our LOAN Geo Mobile it was time to see what we could find.

After the previous DNF we were not sure about tackling another cache about fox and bat's. Thankfully this cache was a quick find after the last DNF.

Oooo, this surely was a bit of a trek! After being scratched, biten and sliced by all the lovely fauna and flora around this area, we found the cache.. Thank god for that! We'd put in too much effort to not find it. But on the way back, I misjudged the creek and not only did we come home with a smiley, but with a car full of mud. Mmmm.. squishy.. TFTC!

I finished up at the Fire Service Training College early so called up the bee to see if he was up for a walk on a few caches in the 'badlands' Sure, especially with a possible FTF up for grabs.

It wasn't too cool and was pretty humid so it wasn't long before we had worked up a sweat.

Quick find but unfortuneately the container needs replacing. TFTC. Big Grin

Everything I touched while crossing the creek seemed to have some kind of sharp point! Found a crossing west of GZ that didn't require pushing through weed or getting feet wet. Just sharp stuff! Once across the creek the going was a bit tough with a steep incline and lots of slippery grass. Managing to remain upright most of the time I made it to GZ and quickly spotted the obvious place. Nothing was living in there so I made a quick grab. TNLNSL TFTC SA_ParrotHead!

14-Mar-13
See the photo of the dog near the creek with the rocks? That was taken in 2007.
Fast forward to 2013, the rocks are still there (and you'll need to know that while the first one is wobbly, the rest are solid and still there). This will stop you from being BAMBOOzled when you get about 25 metres away from ground zero.

When there, look for the red berries and you will find this path across

I felt like a modern day explorer doing this cache today. Crossing the river was fun. And the whole walk to the cache I was praying for there to be no snakes.

Found in the company of a smart Blonde from Paris called Laura while I dragged the cubs along! The crossing was 150m further down n a large fallen gum tree and once we made our way over there the find was a cinch!
Great area, nice hide. Glad we never saw any snakes else the Laura lady would have abandoned me!

29-Jan-12
A great hide! Thank you.

Followed the trail until the GPS was reading about 30 meters away then decided to go bush, couldn't directly cross the creek but remembered that an easier crossing was a little further past.

Walked 150 meters past the cache and found a large tree that has grown across the creek, made crossing easier and managed not to go for a swim!

Walked around for a little while looking in a few different spots and eventually hit the mark.

Took cow toy and left plastic dinosaur and other bits and pieces.

SL, TFTC!!

Searched for the easy way across the stream but no luck as way to many reeds blocking our view/path
Was hoping to find a flying fox to take us across but no luck
Went in search with fellow cachers Earthlight and Dayseekers
Disappointed that we had walked all that way not to come up with the cache

Crossing the creek was a challenge!

28-Apr-11
Great day for a walk, followed the GPS and found it easily. Then we noticed the HUGE spider in it web right behind us. Very Happy

02-Apr-11
Found with Kay on a Little Para power trail. We took the direct route from Civil Cults, up & over the hill, and found ourselves needing to cross over to go anywhere other than back up the steep slope. We tried to run across the flattened reeds like ninjas, but still got our shoes, socks & trousers wet. On approach to GZ, I found some rocks to hop across the creek and back again. I found & signed the cache, then we turned back towards the car, went home for some dry shoes and left Foxbat's Revenge for another day.

08-Sep-10
what an adventure, tricky walk than we thought it would be, dog and owners had very wet feet. TFTC

15-Aug-10
It's probably appropriate that we did a Parrot cache on the day that they were celebrating their 5000th find.

A little bit of rain, and some wind, didn't deter us, and with WD giving us a hint on where to cross the river, we found this one quite easily, though not in the first spot that we looked.

No bird life today, but we still enjoyed the walk none the less.

Well it sure don't look like those pictures any more!

Great occasion to find a Parrot cache, and a great little team to wander upstream with. TFTC

15-Aug-10
It had started to rain and the creek was up, but there was no way we were going to miss doing a Parrot cache while we'd absconded from the party! Found a good spot to hop across the water, look in the wrong spot then in the right spot. We didn't see any interesting birdlife but we found some interesting bird poop on the cache! TNLN, and on towards revenge.

Had a look at this one a while ago and decided to solve it today. Creek crossing as you descrbed it was much easier than the way we tried it last time, also found a great hiding spot for the kids in a hollowed out tree as we waited out a shower.Took alien left cow SL TFTC

Finally got this one off my closest to home list. A really nice day for a walk, with a huge number of butterflies around near gz. Could not find the "easy" creek crossing, so made one myself. A tricky hide, as I searched the most obvious spot first (must learn to trust my gpsr). TNLN. TFTC.

19-Jan-10
We parked at the 'Old Spot' and did an evening walk to the cache, we saw lots of bunnies and even a Kangaroo close to GZ.

We took geokid, geobaby and geo dog along for the walk which probably wasn't the easiest cache to do with a pram. The walk along the path was really pleasent, but we came to the spot where I think team 'everlasting' crossed in the reeds, and there was no way I was going to get my tribe through there, we went a little further and found the rocks where parrothead had crossed - decided we would leave the pram and carry bubs to GZ instead. Our poor geo dog who is a maltese, suffered the most and is now full of prickles - think we will be brushing her for days to get those prickles out Wink

Any way this was find number 50 for us and prooved to be a good adventure. A great hide, I went to where I thought was the obvious spot and fossicked around, but then had to trust my GPS to find the cache.

Thanks SA Parrothead for another good cache - Took Nothing Left TB.
