Our last day of our honeymoon in the USA. Answer sent to CO of this old virtual cache. We didn't have time to go up the tower but the views from ground level are pretty good anyway! Very crowded so this was easier than the nearby traditional. Interesting lady, thanks for sharing part of her story. Photo attached of wifey and I outside Coit Tower.
Cheers from Sydney, Australia

Conditions: Warm autumn afternoon
Companions: None
Muggles: Plenty (but not an issue for a virtual)
I have been in San Fran for a conference, and had some time to explore before registering and the first keynote. I caught the bus from the conference center up towards the water, and when I looked up and saw the Coit tower decided to change plans and head straight there, rather than "sometime'. I got to the entrance and the guy asked me if I had walked up the hill - it was more of a humid day than expected, so I headed round to the gift shop to buy a T-shirt. Afterwards, while in the queue for the elevator I noticed the picture in question, so determined the answer to the hint. Once up at the top of the tower I enjoyed the spectacular views - thanks for sharing this great place.

On our last full day in the US we decided to take a hop on hop off bus tour round San Francisco. When we hopped off I looked to see if there were any caches nearby. Our bus stopped near the church and park down the hill a bit. After fueling up on some excellent Gelato, I climbed the stairs to the top of the hill and made my way to the monument. Loads of people about so quite pleased that this was a virtual and all I had to do was locate some information to find it. TFTVC, Biggles.
We were over in the United States for 16 days on a surprise trip, to visit LA, San Fran and Vegas. Today we were touring around Alcatraz and the Piers, and decided to head up to Coit Tower
Such an amazing spot up here, and to our surprise, when we arrived, we were greeted with signs saying it closed two days ago, and wouldn't be open for months. Thankfully we were able to attain the answers from other sources, and tok plenty of photos up the top A great spot up here, and a fav point from us!

I have see and photos this tower from afar many times. Finally came to this tower thanks to your cache. Thanks.
Clan Gunnie had planned for some walking today, but were not quite expecting the approach to this cache that we got... The downside to not being local I guess...
We jumped off the trolley at Pier 29 and wandered over for an approach from the east. OK, steps, just what we did expect, but not so many... As we worked our way to the top, we met a sign a little over half way, 174 steps to go... I don't know how many there are from bottom to top but I'm guessing a fraction under 400. That's just a few...
We made it though and on arrival, we were blessed with a blue sky for our visit to the top of the tower. We snapped a few pics and prior to our ascent, I checked out the decor and gathered the info I needed and sent the Email with the response to the question.
Thanks for bringing us up here. We may have not visisted had it not been for the cache. Great work... From here, we took the steps to the west and made out way on foot to Lombard St.
Cheers LooneyTunes.

I was tempted to give this cache a miss as the hill is quite steep... but with geomum resting in a nearby park, I decided I was here now and climbed up. I was rewarded with stunning views! TFTC, and greetings from Australia!
Found on my US trip, we went up Coit Tower afterwards and got a few cool photos. I think the elevator fee is a bit steep but I still enjoyed hanging around on Telegraph Hill.
Did this virtual cache while visiting Coit Tower.

Despite having lived in the Bay Area for 15 years, I never went inside Coit Tower. Now as a returning visitor from Seattle, I got to appreciate these great murals - thanks for showing them to me. I couldn't see the mural image on my PDA, but was able to suss the correct info from the cache page, and answer sent.

No visit to SF is complete without Coit Tower. Last time here was 17 years ago. Quick find of the clue. The trees need a little trimming though to gett a decent view.

Our first overseas find! Mr S was in town for business, and made this find within hours of landing after the 13 hour flight from Sydney. The walk to the top certainly cured him of any jetlag. The view was worth it though.
It's not often you get a second go at a geocache in a foreign country that you've DNFed, however back in San Francisco for the day, and now knowing which part of the murals I was looking for (but photographing all of them just to be sure - and because they're pretty good!) I can now count this as a find! Yippeeeee!!! Excellent murals, not to be missed!
My PDA doesn't upload images, so I didn't know which mural I should be looking at - took photos of all sorts of murals, but although I saw this one it isn't one I photographed. Really enjoyed the murals though - as well as those near the lift to go to the top!
