Out with weredunn4 heading North of Adelaide today to target some new caches around Port Wakefield and then heading over toward Clare to seek some caches we havent previously found.Quickly found this one and log stamped Nice to rectify a previous DNF here TFTC
Made a last minute decision to attend the event in Balaklava and after that concluded decided to see how many caches I could find in the area. This was one of fifteen found to almost clear the town of unfound caches. Was first in a convoy of three to pull up near this GZ, then at GZ met more cachers who had parked on the other side. With a previous finder in the mob it wasn't long before the cache was spotted and more names were added to the fresh log. Thanks to Irac- for adding to the playing field with this cache.Cache #14770 for me.*This log composed and published using GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife).*
Being with the last finder certainly made this one a lot easier to find than they found it. Soon the beauty was in hand and off to the next one
Thanks for the multi-cache Irac. I found everything except the details on Bob Walker. This was a very time consuming cache, not that that is a problem, it is just that I usually avoid these. But as I needed to solve it, I persisted. On the plus side, this is a beautiful thing you have done, to highlight the history and residents to outsiders, in such a lovely way, so it was worthwhile all the same. With some figures landing in my lap during lunch, I headed to GZ and began my search. It was on the third pass I saw the hide, and the fun began. The cache needed revolving and turning, and then I needed some pointy nosed pliers which were retrieved from the car. All good, cache was out and sheet signed. With such a small sheet, I decided to add a fresh sheet ready for the next finder, together with leaving the original. I taped a tail to the cache so the next finder may find it easier to retrieve. Thanks for the multi, find #9518 at 2.54pm. Wow, I spent over an hour on this one.
Worked coordinates out with Detofinbars and had a good search , but came away empty handed.
WOW this DNF took a lot of time.Too complicated questions took ages to work out then no find.
An early morning start to go caching and get some exercise in Balaklava before the temperature rose too high.Like others before us we had no luck hereMany thanks for the hide anyway Irac-
After an extensive search we came up empty handed.pulled rocks out, lifted slabs, nothing!!
Needed a break but found nothing but a rose bush at gz and was not searching that.Checked coords twice.
Stopped here to make a cuppa on our trip home. While the kettle boiled we did the calcs. Would be nice if there was a cache checker or checksum.
Spent quite awhile looking in a spot we thought was GZ but eventually found it about 2m away. I had to use a stick to tease the cache out of its hiding spot.

Thought this was going to take us a while, but with two of us onto it we conquered it whilst appreciating the art work - great display(mister was particularly fascinated by the detail of the noses and boobs)??
With KBKL off at work today, and finally some cooler winds, I decided to go do a little caching around Balaklava since my last visit. Managed to pick up 11 finds but unfortunately also had 2 DNF's (which I have reached out to the CO's to see if they would like assistance in maintenance whilst I am here). Not a bad little haul for a couple hours driving around.
This one took quite a while to determine the required values. Fortunately for me I was able to find a bit of shade whilst working out the requirements. Eventually I had some coordinates that looked about right so I wandered over and started looking. Started doubting my calculations as I wasnt locating anything and just as I was about to go back and recheck calculations, I spotted something. Yep nice the cache, signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for the cache placement and maintenance Irac-

Balaklava weekend, Day 3.
Redid the numbers this morning and made the find. The calcs are time consuming, and no checker... otherwise it would have got a favourite, interesting area.

Did the calcs, but with fading light and no checker to confirm we were in the right place, we gave up gracefully.
I was very keen to check This one off my list and spent a good deal of time here enjoying this amazing artwork. The cache is safe and sound. No problems here. It does not need maintenance. A favourite point from me for the education, artwork and location
The first clue was hard. Finally found gz after rechecking coordinates. Kitty eyes finally had a find for the day
Definitely an interesting multi, a lot of work has gone into this wall.
Off to gz and a quick find was had.
Today I decided to go for a nice drive along the back country roads just cleaning up the caches along the way, todays travels I needed up from two wells to Owen, balaclava and back via port Wakefield, all in all 48 finds for the morning complete.
Thanks for the cache

Staying in Balaklava for the grain harvest, but our time here is drawing to a close. Today we ducked out to grab the nearby caches.

Thanks Irac- for the cache.
Thanks Irac- for the cache.
We came back to give this one another go. Checked our data and that was wrong (took us a km away). So came back and looked around where we thought was the obvious spit. Success! A great location for a cache but those clues did my head in . We loved the visit here though.
A great informative work of community art. Took a while to source all the information and then made a mistake translating the coords. Had to come back and recheck. Great cache. Thanks
We searched for ages and couldnt even get the first clue. Who knows where it might be located, as we give up We looked at every tile- several times- but no luck. And the other clues are not too ckear to us either. Beautiful spot though.
TFTC a very interesting & colourful memorial wall and path with so many gorgeous tiles. The gardens are also superb.
We always enjoy a Multi-cache and so on passing through town today we stopped off to undertake this one. It didn’t take too long to find the numbers required at the very interesting murals, then with our GPS updated with the corrected co-ordinates we walked on towards Ground Zero where the cache was quickly located. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe
After lots of dramas at work it was nice to finish at lunch time and head out on an afternoon caching expedition with JJ52.
The plan was to tackle the February OTD series and the Prime Minister series.
I also requested the add in of 3 multis as I am trying to qualify for the SFE multi challenge which is still a long way off.
We had a great afternoon/early evening out finding over 60 caches and only 2 dnf which both appeared to be missing.
The weather was glorious, not too hot and made for a super afternoon.
Thankfully no snakes were seen but we were vigilant as it seemed like perfect snakey weather. Plenty of birds were seen as well as a rabbit, lizard and many many goats and other farming animals.
TFTC this was our 2nd multi. I had made a guess on where the final might be but we still did the calcs took a while to find some of the tiles there were a lot to look through!! Found cache where we had thought it would be.

An afternoon caching expedition had been organised with Michells&hound to tackle the February OTD series and the Prime Ministers series along with a few others along the way. [^]
M&h had also targeted three multis which we added to the list, and we also found. We had a successful afternoon (4 finds and 2 DNF's) which ended up extending into the early evening, but hey when you are on a roll... It was a beautiful day for caching, warm with a breeze which turned into quite a cool wind at the end of our day so it didn't bother us too much. Saw lots of wildlife with one huge paddock containing hundreds of goats running around...I had never seen so many goats in one place.
This one took a while to look at all the tiles and find the ones we needed, but we got there in the end. Found the cache right where M&h thought it might be as we walked towards the wall.
Thanks for the cache Irac-.

Found after a short search with Sir Spectre. Our main goal was to do the 2 nearby OTD series. TFTC
found with allister w. Out today to target the 2 nearby OTD series and detouring to get my multi count up. quick solve and find.
Brilliant multi. So much to take in. A fantastic community effort. Definitely worthy of a favourite point. Tftc.
Nicechallange and test of patience on this one. Mis counted then corrected then found a container.
The three of us stopped here on our journey back home. We calculated the numbers and had a look in the obvious places at GZ. We then tried a few new places and found the cache after about 10 minutes of searching.
Signed the log. Thanks for the cache Irac-.

We did the sums but we did not find the cache. We are wondering if it is gone.....
Out with feathertop and FeatherWaite.

I am heading to Jordan and Qatar as part of a university trip in a few weeks, and I decided that as I am approaching 500 caches (not really but after today, I am), it would be a nice idea to get my 500th cache in either Jordan or Qatar. I informed Doctor Owl of this vague plan last week when we caught up to do maintenance last week, and she concluded that I absolutely must fulfil this plan. The problem was that by the end of our maintenance run (and caching along the way) last week, I was on 397 caches. 102 caches of the 499 needed to ensure I could get my 500th while overseas. Therefore, Doctor Owl decided that in order to get my numbers up some powertrials were needed. So we headed up north with SASewerRats, collecting caches that some or all (mainly me though) hadn't done. I ended up getting 78 caches and having a great day.
We stopped for lunch near here and decided to do this multi. Lovely murals. TFTC.

Came by and looked around here today. Couldn’t find it. Asked a previous finder who was also with me, they couldn’t find it where they had located it previously either.
With a bunch of DNFs and the fact that multiple previous finders can’t locate it, can the CO please check this one?
Came through Balaklava with CPwanderer.
As CP had already found this one, he helped me search.
But we both came up empty-handed.

Managed to collect the clues between showers but only had a short look before the weather deteriorated again. Will look on our next visit.
It was a bit hot to be standing around here at midday today !! [:o]
But there was a cache to be found !!! [:P}
After the initial surprise of seeing the wall [:o]
I got around to the nitty-gritty of working out some numbers
Oh no !! This could take a while [:o)]
Did I mention that it was a bit hot to be standing around here at midday ??
Pacing the tiles and quite a few minutes later I had the first few numbers
That lady standing in the doorway is very distracting !!
Her, um !! er !!, eyes seem to follow you !! [:o]
I did reach a sensible set off coords and trotted off to find me prize
And couldn't find the cache after 15 minutes in the hot sun.
I did get some burns from the metal seat,
and gritty knees from the dirt
I think cache blindness kicked in !!
So DNF this time around

Another great day's caching with fellow Geelong cachers Suscoe, during our time in SA. We explored the area to the north east of Pt Wakefield. The weather was kind, the scenery amazing and a variety of caches dotted the landscape; including trads, puzzles and multis. Along the way we had the chance to learn quirky facts about animals, interesting detail and stories from the past as we found the caches. A smiley for us as well as the folk at the posted co'ords.
Our thanks to Irac- for placing this cache.

Well a pleasant Sunday drive for Suscoe took place today in the very good company of Phetlern.
We headed off bright and early with a mild start, temperature wise.
It was a cloudy day again and there was some distant rain on the horizon but that kept its distance from us and so the day was generally fine. There were times where the breeze and clouds conspired to make things cool.
Our point of departure was Port Wakefield and that was also our final destination. In between we headed to the areas around Bowmans, Balaklava, Watchman, Halbury, Erith and Avon. We took in a variety of traditionals, multi’s and puzzles and we found many of the caches that we stopped at. There were a few that seemed elusive and perhaps need some owner TLC.
We discovered a good bit of history of this region and we also admired the countryside which was looking stunning with early growth of the grain crops looking beautifully green and the occasional sheep and cattle looked happy in the grassy paddocks.
Unfortunately Mrs. S ended up with a small piece of tree embedded in her head which required a detour to the nearby hospital to have it removed. Fortunately this didn’t slow the finds down for too long.

Catching up with some late logs, therefore this unfortunately is going to be one of 'those logs'. I apologize in advance for the generic log, A combination of limited time and too many to log dictates that a generic log is best. I have enjoyed the hunt and being outdoors in this great country of ours, partaking in a pastime that I thoroughly enjoy. I usually head out by myself, but I thank those that have had the misfortune of my company in some of these ventures.
Thanks Irac- for placing this cache.

Day two of the Nullarbor experience was here. I again joined the convoy of Alansee, Maccamob and Mica Paramedic for another day of fun, heading for Port Augusta, then I would do my own thing for a few days before joining them again in Esperance. Today, we would drive from Murray Bridge, to Port Augusta via Gawler, just over 380km of driving. We would log our finds as MAAM, AMMA, AMAM or some other combination of those 4 letters.
Spent a bit of time in Balaklava, including a break for lunch. This one was an interesting spot with lots of information to absorb. Cache didnt take too long to locate either.

Found by Mary & David, in convoy with micaparamedic, Alansee and ahomburg (logged as MAAM), at 1215. Took quite a while, but there were four teams to look. Loved all the animals and birds, as well as the tiles. There was even an image of a man off to the right that we reckon was the spitting image of Freddo! You get a favourite point. Our thanks to Irac-.
Did this cache with GOTH's mogni (she had already done it), brisal5 and Aussie Mark. Mogni had no memory of the cache so we all did it. Made some incorrect assumptions, redid the maths and yay, we were able to find the cache. Great spot for a multi. Enjoyed what we learned from the tiles. Thanks Irac- and sorry for late log.
The GOTHs were back together for a couple of caching days. Today's crew was myself, Aussie M&M and mogni . So of course the travelling watermelon came out once again.
As usual it turned into fun and frivolity. Only two of the usual geocaching day out boxes of 'a fall' ,'blood being spilt', 'torn daks' and being 'outside my pocket query' were also ticked during the day. Where are we going I asked? Moonta area via Balaklava. So I only put 3,000 in - what are the chances we could stay in there. Absolute none! - As usual. And the blood. - As Usual
We had a few laughs here. Yes some parts of the tiles DO stick out from the wall. Got some counting wrong to start but a recheck and we soon had the cache in hand. Thanks Irac-. Grabbed the TB and replaced the log sheet.

Found while on Yorke Peninsula with iluvtrekking. Fortunate to have amazingly clear, warm weather for duration of our stay which made for very pleasant caching. Today we headed to Clare picking up a few finds along the way. Happy to have time to stretch our legs while doing this multi. Thanks Irac-

After a brief sojourn at a candle party (the reason for Owl and Raven’s visit to Balaklava), they took Lorikeet out for more caching. Owl has been past this location several times, but never stopped. Today they intently examined the area, crunched the numbers and ended up with an unlikely result. Owl checked the figures and realised that Raven can’t count. A revisit of a certain tile and a much more likely result gave them a clever little hide. Despite Raven’s mathematical deficiencies, this deserves a favourite point.
for this Cache things didn't go the way they should have (Sister Raven didn't know how to do one of the clues) and Dr Owl, Sister Raven & friends had to walk around the location finding the Cache but with the right cordinates they managed to find the Cache in a jiffy.
Your cache was found as part of Sister Raven’s Australian Scout Geocaching Competition entry.

Staying at CP, and while the washing was washing, we went for a walk. She had seen the wall as we went past on the way into town earlier , but it was great to be taken on a walk back there to see it up close. Very good! Fun activity, but a challenge for us to actually find the cache - both phones swung wildly - it could have been anywhere - so many prickles, but then crawling around (trying not to attract too much attention) for several minutes, I found it. (Very thankful, because the last prickly place we gave up on in frustration.) Took Nothing, and left a dice. PS - lid on container is cracked,
Interesting and colourful, and it took a little time to find the answers. Finally got there and made the find. Thanks for bringing me here, enjoyed the spot.
We enjoyed doing this multi, learning about the area, as we found the answers.
