Unfortunately the property owner has withdrawn permission for the cache container to remain in hiding so it has been removed and is no longer available as the final destination.
Ten years was a good run and I don't live in Katherine now so hopefully another local geocacher can use the towers with a new final location because it is a nice bit of Katherine history.

Still travelling NT after the Red Centre Experience but now moving towards Birdsville in QLD for the Big Red Bash.
Staying a few days in Katherine to attempt 'lots' of the local caches we hope.
Nice weather although warming up a bit again.
Sadly we were muggled by the property owner at the final location just after we found the cache. He was very unhappy with visitors to his property and insisted we remove the cache!
We have messaged the CO but the cache is DEFINITELY NOT in situ at the moment.

We removed the final cache at the property owners insistence. Message sent to CO about reworking this or maybe even archiving.
OMGosh, an epic battle between ant and human. Solved the clues by myself but had to get geo hubby to come to the final location as I am a chicken about private properties. Hubby went and spoke to the owner first to gain permission. All good and the final hunt ensued. Sweated heaps but came up with goods.
Found after attending the CITO event. Great cache love the location and history of the final. TFTC

Today we explored Katherine and surrounds using geocaching as a guide. What a great multi we enjoyed the background history and the sights we visited, cache is still in good condition, only a tad rusty in its hidey hole. One of the clues at the second watpoint is disappearing and we had to guess the answer.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

A trip to Katherine Gorge and back after finding my 10,000th cache !
Hardly any muggles around and some good quick finds.
A great little multi and site as our friends the gophers said almost a year ago.
Thanks for the cache CHEDENT,

We really enjoyed this one and got to see stuff we didn't know was there. Great multi.
2686 Found by baby&Mrs gopher at 1310 on our short stopover in Katherine. We love a good multi and this fitted the bill just fine. It is great to learn some of the history of each place that is visited A favourite from us..SL Tnx CHEDENT
On a Trip to the top end for the V8 Race weekend 14 days of driving and racing
After getting all the details it was an easy find at the final destination
After getting all the details it was an easy find at the final destination
After 5 days in Darwin for the V8's and a little sightseeing it was time to head south back to the cold. Of course we grabbed caches on the way. Spent today in the Katherine area before staying the night at the Mataranka Thermal Pool.
Felt a little awkward with the sign on the gate but I guess we were authorised. TFTC.

We had no idea these were here so we really enjoyed this multi, although it was a challenge. I don't know what we did wrong but we could not work out the final co-ordinates. Our GPS was planning on sending us on quite the goose chase, but with some common sense and the hint we quickly found the cache.
Well worth the trip to the WPs. Misread one date at WP1 wghich had me 100m away from true WP2, lost my glasses crashing through long grass. But then realised the real date and retraced footsteps to find glasses, answers and the final

At last, we can log this one as a find. I certainly turned this one into something that was far harder then it needed to be due to missing a very important piece of info. If all else fails retrace your steps and start again is my motto and it worked today. A big thanks to CHEDENT for the cache, this shows a part of Katherine I am sure a lot of travelers miss. I will post some photo's in a few weeks, no they will not help with any info. LOL SL TFTC
A great challenge and even better company ... And even though it felt like we were a little lost on our path - sometimes you just have to dust yourself off and keep moving forward to get to where you would like to be.

Another outstanding challenge! Really enjoy hunting the multi. Had amazing company which made for a dusty but exceptional afternoon. TFTC TNL1 64 Penny.
Decided to tackle our first Multi today. Great challenge and will be doing many more. Just a note for the owner though, some of the painted numbers are getting hard to read as paint is flaking off.
Thank you very much CHEDENT. We are hooked.

Finally decided to give this multi a go, we liked it, enjoyed the history and locations. TFTC TNLN
What a great way to close off 2011, by doing a multi you've been putting off doing for 12mths and just in time before the wet which prevents one visiting waypoint 1 for about 4 or 5mths of the year. Thanks Chedent for a great cache. Oh was a little concerned about entering the final co-ords but spoke to the owner who was mowing her lawn and she gave us permission to enter, otherwise the no entry signs probably would have prevented us from claiming this one. TNLN TFTC.
Of the many multi-caches we have attempted, this would rate as one of the best. At each waypoint there was something unexpected which left us asking further questions about how?, why? and where?. The collection of items at the final waypoint was also a highlight. Thanks for a great cache CHEDENT.
Found at 2.20pm GAFF1. We love these fascinating old relics - we have seen the telegraph remnants along the Nullarbour and at Peak Hill and now here.
Wish that the road across Knotts Crossing was open!
We also wanted to go searching for the bomb crater, but thought in the end that it was probably filled with mud.
We could hardly make out some of the names and dates at the impressive first WPT and the second WPT was very well conceived although we couldn't see a "P" anywhere.
Thanks CHEDENT - we really enjoyed this cache.

I joined Gibbo on the hunt for this one and a short search revealed the hide. Great location with some interesting history. TFTC CHEDENT. [728]
Glad to get this one off my unfound list. Thanks Chedent for the history and the cache.
Whilst hunting for the cache, I was approached by the owner... fortunately I had just read the log, in which was a message from Jim and his wife, along the lines of "This cache is on private property and should not be here" Well, you can't argue about that. The log went on to say "but since it;'s here, it can stay here."
Jim and I had a long and friendly discussion about caching and I was able to show him the info on this cache on my Ipod... he was quite impressed, and even more so when I informed him that there were about 40 caches around Katherine,. and millions world wide. He's now even thinking about becoming a cacher!
Jim asked me to point out to ALL COMERS that;
(a) the cache is on private property, so please respect that, and
(b) you enter at your own risk!
Oh - and please don't nick any of the relics lying around, as has happened in the past.
Thanks, Jim for allowing us the privilege of hiding and seeking on your land.

A most agreeable multi and we enjoyed discovering the twin towers. Thanks CHEDENT
Out and about with Liz, Bruce, Jan & Phil, we all found this multi interesting. TNLN. Thanks for taking us to these historical sites.
I really enjoyed doing this cache, I would never have known these places existed.
the log is still a bit damp.

After a quick search we decided to leave this one for another day as we were running out of daylight. As we were approaching our car the property owner called us over and asked what we were doing. We explained the cache details and she was only too happy to show us where it was. Not really a normal caching technique but we used the resources on hand and quickly had the cache. She also gave us a bit of a history lesson about the area and her property. The owner is very friendly and gets a little upset when no one says hello to her. So if you do hunt for this cache and you see her. Go say G'day and maybe you'll learn something too! Took GC LN SL TFTC!
I have been putting this off for too long now, had some trouble with the co ordinates
i realise that its method of substitution rather than algebraic haha. then it put me in the right place.

How could I pass up a cache with an OTG theme.
I love this line and have been to the PO in Adelaide to check out the Todd portrait. I have been to the Stations at Strangeways, Peake, Alice, Barrow, Tennant and Daly Waters. Seen the maker for the joining of the lines and now I get to see this bit of history as well.

Viruzeno & Myself headed out to complete this one today. First 2 waypoints were found easily, but an easy to make mistake lead us into the middle of no where HAHA
Had a nice chat with the property owner at GZ and she expressed concern over a few issues (though she doesn't mind the cache being there). I shall email the cache owner with her concerns.

Final location clues and coordinates have now been updated to match the move of the cache tin.
Found this one, however, it was with help from the owner of the property who came over from her house and explained to me that the final location was private property and that she had moved the cache.
Took moonstones and dragon, left a keychain and a red nose pin.
Thanks for the cache, will email the owner with the new coordinates and explain what is going on.

Of all the ones to forget before my departure this was the one i did nto want to but alas i forgot to collect before we went off on our long and weary journey... eigh the humanity. Thanks anyways chedent for keeping us occupied up in katherine, it was greatly appreciated.
Hmmmmm, no such luck after a long and hot search... will have to email owner for a little nudge i reckon! Last one left to find in Katherine!
Second time lucky for this one.
Spent about 15 minutes at GZ on my first attempt but wasn't real sure about the sign at the pathway, but went ahead with a quick search, all to no avail. Spoke with the owner that night about a few other things, but at the same time he confirmed that my GZ calc's were in the right spot.
Back today and was a little more adventous with my search and after a looking for a few minutes I spotted my goal sitting there large as life waiting to be claim.
Quickly opened the cache, found the log book and was quite pleased to read a note from the property owners welcoming me to the cache on the their land. I completed my log and headed back to the car satisfied having finally found this one.
Thanks to CHEDENT for the comfirmation and to all the others who made the cache possible. Loved the history lesson.
After all that, TNLN but TFTC.
Cheers,

i think we are loosing the nack, but this was purely green ant related! Went for a quick look but within seconds got green ants in my hair, in my shirt and worst of all down the pants! Arghh! So will return soon, its a good value for money cache, its kept me busy for a while!
We started this cache yesterday afternoon but not without drama. First we trusted TomTom who placed us on the wrong side of the river. After and finding our way to the correct location we made finding the info required a lot harder than it really had to be. After finally locating what we needed we decided to leave looking for GZ until today as we had an engagement at a local establishment and did not want to be late. This morning proved a lot quicker than yesterday and the large cache was located in the second place we looked.
Thanks once again CHEDENT for the cache and showing us some more of Katherine's history

After reading the previous logs I was a bit sceptical of this cache. However, the clues were all found easily and eventually led us to GZ. Was a bit worried about the property owner as per previous logs and checked with the owner who assured me that the pathway to the tower is open access to the public. Cache located soon after. Thanks Chedent.

This one has posed a few problems for some so I've been and checked the coords and made some fine adjustments to the final cache location. There is no need to venture in amongst all the rusting relics and if you keep the tall scrub between you and the adjacent property you shouldn't draw attention to yourself.
Didn't have too much luck with this one today, got the co-ords easily enough but when it came to the final gz, no such luck. A few snakes around so didn't want to dig around too much in the grass, so mabye next time!
Well we got all the clues and found the South Tower but no luck finding the cache - mind you the debris from the flood and 1m high grass didn't make it too inviting to lift stuff and look!!! Just a note - this is on PRIVATE land - the owner's came out to see what we were doing ( on the 2nd visit ) and told us this was the original site for Katherine and it is NOT a park or public land - even though there is a sign out front to say it is a National Trust site. So maybe necessary to move cache off their land and out of grassey area (lots of snakes owner's say). Thanks for the history lesson and the cache sites - wish we had a find to round off the day - oh well might have another quick look on the way home in May when the grass may have died off a bit? I wanted to drop the Firefighters TB here so it could continue on it's trip to west coast - maybe it will have to go to Litchfield instead!
Almost gave up on this one, my last in Katherine after a wonderful 2 days thanks to the efforts of CHEDENT (and some KERRNT caches). My GPS led me to the South Tower and couldn't find Alex but found Cartwright. Then was confused by the "Hyphens" in the instructions until I figured out that they weren't hyphens. I even looked amongst the "Treasure" nearby to no avail..
Decided I needed to get to the other-side and do this multi the hard way. Finally found the right tower and clues, drove to the next way-point before landing where I started initially. Had another crack at the Treasure now that I knew for certain that I was in the right place and finally found it (7m from GZ). At the same time a large yellow tail slithered in the caches direction
I jumped up and down a dozen times to scare what ever it was away before darting in to seize the prize. TFTC CHEDENT and all the trouble you've gone to to create some of the most inventive caches in the Territory.

Bugger it's tomorrow already [|)]and back to the treasure trove for another look. Had another scout around and then decided to go off and plan some hides and come back. Back with CHEDENT to check that cache was stil there (while I waited in the car) Darnit it was - couldn't leave without another look. So off I go again - with CHEDENT informing me that my GZ amoungst the treasures was no where near the GZ in the treasures, so widened the search and finally found it 15m away YAY. The towers are most interesting and I suspect largely unknown, except to long term locals perhaps. The clues are very clever to. Thanks CHEDENT and if anyone should ever wants to catalogue the treasures tell them to give me a call, as I know most of them quite well now.
Last cache for the day (thats the message I left two caches ago - oops). Got the clues all ok and off to GZ to commence the search . WELL... with so many possible hiding spots [?] and some curious neighbours, I searched amoungst the treasures the best I could to reveal ZIP, NOTHING, ZILCH . After 10 caches and 750km for the day, it was getting late and well past beer o'clock [:p], so decided to come back again tomorrow.
On our holidays, partly travelling in a Britz campervan through the upper half of the Northern Territory, we tried to log as many of the caches on the way. With the use of a PDA with iGo and the caches loaded as POIs, driving to the cache locations has become quite easy. In total, we visited 61 cache sites and of all these sites, we found 41 caches. Certainly not a perfect score, but we usually enjoyed the location the owner of the cache has chosen. Geocaching brought us to the usual popular tourist locations, but also on some places that we would have otherwise never stopped or driven through.
This log-entry is the twenty-sixth cache on our tour.
We used GoogleEarth to plan the caches and according to the software, there should be a road across the water. We approached the GZ from the south side (on our way to the Gorges) and found out that what may have been a road at one time certainly is not anymore. Since we need the clues from the North tower to find the end point near the South tower, we decided to follow up on this one at a later stage. We did visit the South tower, but just for our own cultural interest. Due to different reasons we never continued with this cache. Maybe something to indicate in the cache description that the 2 towers are close to each other but quite far apart if by car?
