Solved this puzzle a while ago but very rarely get to this area. Had to have several goes at solving the puzzle as one figure seemed to be off but worked out the correct answer without too much trouble. The cache was found exactly where I expected but on getting to it, found it had been muggled. Everything was there but lying around and log was soaking wet. Tried to sign it without luck and didn't have any supplies on me today as Mrs B wasn't with me with the geocaching backpack. Put it back together and hid it a little better - note the camo is no longer glued to the top. TFTC and puzzle.

When I first started caching, mystery caches were certainly a no go area for me. I was far too lazy to bother and numbers were always more important. OK, now I have numbers alright, but after solving a few mysteries of late I realise they are a heap of fun, the more I do the more they seem to be a challenge and fun. So when I first looked at this cache a year ago or more, I put it aside thinking it was WAY too hard and time consuming. But now I see things differently, yes, it was certainly time consuming but yes, a whole lot of fun! So after I finally got the tick on geochecker, I was quite ecstatic! Took me a few goes to do so admittedly. So today I decided to come to collect the goodies, Parked up and made my way across the grass past the couple who were exercising their dogs. Discreetly I found the cache, laying down with no cover. I signed myself in, log paper a bit in tatters, but still dry and plenty of places to sign in. I recovered with debris laying around so it wasn't so obvious to muggles Thanks FMZ for the effort gone into this, it did my head in a few times!!.

Our knowledge of Protugal was sufficient to earn us a trip here. We knew that we were slightly out but confident that we could find it. A short search and we knew we had to widen our zone. There has been a lot of activity in this park and lots of rubbish left behind. Our slightly widened search rewarded us with the find.

Solved the puzzle some 2 years ago, so we decided to come over this way to grab a couple of puzzles. All quiet at the park so a quick dash in to grab the cache and get this one signed off finally, thanks

How well do I know Portugal? Apparently quite well......with the help of friend WP. Nice puzzle and thanks for bringing to this quiet little reserve in a part of town that I would never have visited. And a nice one for find number 1100.

Found today while geowife went shopping at the markets. Solved this one a wee while back so decided to collect today. Nice spot and I had it to myself, which was great as I was able to grab the exposed cache and stretch out in a sheltered spot to dry out the cache plastic bag and log sheets, while I listened to a Red Sox Yankees game on my phone.

I was eventually disturbed by a muggle walking two dogs and rather improbably, a cat so I packed the cache back up, added a couple of trinkets and headed back off. TFTC.

Up in Auckland visiting Ma and Pa, and I took a ride around the old neighbourhood. I solved this before the flight and made a quick find after dodging the the golfers on the reserve.

Thanks for the hide, Cheers.

Este puzzle foi resolvido há bastante tempo e estava sentado na nossa lista de afazeres. Com as coordenadas resolvidos e sugestão, foi um achado fácil em GZ. Obrigado Chris por nos ensinar sobre Portugal.

out collecting puzzles and unfound caches in general area today. I think after doing this puzzle I would lije to visit Portugal. Thank you for my geography lesson.

Well I know a lot more about Portugal than before I started. It was an interesting assignment and took a bit longer due to being distracted by side stories during my reasearch. Finding the cache was straightforward as it was sitting exposed so I added another layer of natural camo. The log book is a little damp but still able to be written in. TFTC!

Had to have two shots at the puzzles a few months ago after not reading the formula close enough. Finally got it and looked like an obvious location. Geokids and geodad on the hunt today.

It seems I now know quite a lot about Portugal. I visited it 2 years ago and loved it! The log book is a little damp but otherwise cache was fine! Obrigado para o cache!

It was a quick find after spending an hour or so doing the puzzle but glad I solved it. Also the cache seems to be occupied by ants and the log book is kind of damp so might need to recheck it again. Great puzzle though. Cheers.

Found originally as part of rebel98 team, now created own account, re-logging as rustynz

Learnt some interesting things along the way, loved the challenge. GZ was new to us, so thanks again for the puzzle and the hide.

It was starting to get dark, but we were nearby, the perfect time to come and find the cache. We will return, thinking this might be good place for the family Easter egg hunt! Thanks for sharing the history of Portugal. Lots of research went into finding all the answers, but we were rewarded with success of the GeoChecker. Thanks for the hide and bringing us here. Big Grin

Found this morning after a very frustrating journey through the History of Portugal and the Vagaries of mathematical computation. Even with correct answers I still managed to compute coordinated that would have done credit to a Navy Mud Run. Had to resort to advice from a much more experienced cacher ( cheers Ric) but managed to find in end with a combination of Trial and Elimination, and a bit of luck.
Another awesome little spot I never knew existed...
cheers V.

After having looked at the puzzle online I thought Id give it a go. Had no problem getting the answers to the 26 questions and its amazing how these exercises can expend your knowledge of the world!
It was a good thing the checksums wereavailable as I found one question had 2 possible answers, However this was soon narrowed down. Went to the position I calculated and it was a quick find. First find of the day.
Many thanks fmz for all the work putting this together!

Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.

We spent this morning having a look at some nearby unsolved puzzles. After a bit of research on Portugal we'd found most of the answers we needed, but needed a bit of fine tuning on a couple of them. So after a bit more research, we were comfortable that we had all the right answers and soon worked out the co-ordinates for the final. We then popped out this afternoon and made a quick find of the cache. Thanks for an informative puzzle and the cache!

Completed most of the puzzle months ago and found it yesterday. So completed the remaining questions and took to coords with me just in case I was passing today. I wasn't but thought I'd make a detour to grab this one. A nice straightforward find with no one in the vacinity except for a lone muggle washing his car, but out of sight of GZ

Started solving this cache over three years ago when I first got into geocaching, never completed it, lost what I had answered and then forgot about it. Saw it the other day and had a great time finding all the answers and was in Auckland today so was able to prove I know a little bit about Portugal. Thanks for an informative cache.

I was out for an evening cache run cleaning up some puzzles I had solved. This one took a little while for research and hunting down the answers for the questions but overall it wasn't too hard. I can honestly say I know Portugal a bit better now! Big Grin

The find was easy and I signed off and dropped it back in its spot with some cover. TFTC!

Out and about tonight trying to make a small dent in my solved puzzle book. How well do I know Portugal? Well, let us just say that I got an education! Thanks to google, a couple of hours of effort, I got the desired green tick. I imagine this would take at least a day to do in a Library. Relatively quick find tonight once I was able to find a way to squeeze in. Cheers for the cache!

Well I certainly know Portugal a bit better now.... Its in South America, isnt it? No,wait... North Africa?? Thanks.

Quickly found (well I say quickly - the puzzle took some research!) - in fact it was Little Miss PhantasmNZ (who's 4 and a half) who grabbed this one

In fact I'd put this one off for ages.... right up until I planted another cache in the same park - and the reviewer rejected it - couldn't go back to retrieve my cache without picking this one up could I (35 metres away!)

Quite a bit of water inside - I emptied and dried it as best as I could (which wasn't very well) and put damp logbook in a new clean and dry ziplock - but possible needs proper maintenance .

Cheers FMZ

Found this cache quickly as the weather was misbehaving, yes it was starting to really drizzle now. Decided that I would leave the traditional here alone till next time as the weather was really starting to close in. Another nice puzzle, obviously I really didn't know Portugal very well as I got it wrong initially BUT in the end all the errors were sorted and I finally got an answer that looked good. Thanks for the educational puzzle. TFTC TNLNSL (2067)

Really well designed puzzle - appreciate the effort that must have gone into this to get it all working properly... Spent a wee while on Wikipedia collecting my answers and then it was off with angeshirl to track it down. Really nice little spot for the cache - reminded me of 6th form Bio and playing in the mud "studying mangroves"... TFTC

The answer is better than I did this morning Smile Interesting research project although I could not get one of my check sums to work. It was only 1 out but could I work out which one? No I could not. So a little trial and error and there I was. TFTC, Biggles.

There was still some time for this cache before we headed off for Rumo's birthday party at friends on the Te Atatu Peninsula. The puzzle was already solved some time ago and gave us some interesting insights into a country that was a lot closer to us before 2007 than it is now.
We loved the area around GZ. A place where you could bring some food and enjoy the sun after or before going for the cache.

The list of questions looked rather daunting, but the questions were very precise and it all come together very well. Checksums all added up nicely; the plot on Google Earth looked promising. Off for an easy find, well almost. I had to wait out some people sitting on a park bench opposite the cache.
I guess I know a lot more about Portugal now.
