Logs
Due to recent flooding and our inability to get to this cache. I'm archiving it. It is a great site, so will recreate at a later date if no other cacher puts one here in the next few months.
The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. I'm temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary. Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 30 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.
Stomped around in the mud for quite a while looking but to no avail. Wonder if it is still here as the flood has been extensive and the pelican wasn't talking or giving any secrets away. Thanks for the cache.
Spent a while looking around for this with no sign of it, plenty of mud. This looks like it needs Archiving.
Out on a day caching around Loxton with Gemini7, had a good look around for this but no sign of it.
Looks like it needs archiving.
Looks like it needs archiving.
Went out for a days caching with Anyones Guess.
We were able to get to GZ which is still a bit muddy. Unfortunately the Pelican is still there but no sign of the cache.

As we arrived illegally, ignored a road closed sign back at the Apex boat ramp to check the caches around..this one looked like gone because everything was muddy, no way the cache survived the flooding but best to check it out by the owner.
I did consider going and checking on the cache on Sunday arvo, but once the water went over my knees I turned back. Might have to be a canoe rescue!
Still high and dry but you wonder for how long when you look at the water around.
Found after a call to owner and informed of new co-ords, then found and logged, tftc

I looked and looked but didnt find it suspect it was muggled. A few km away workers were trimming branches off GUM trees. Perhaps this cache became the victim of City Workers.
Beautiful area

Can't check at the moment but am watching this. Please log your DNF's so I know if this is consistent.

Found by Roma and Max.
Another interesting rather large object typical of this location!
We also arranged our overnight accomodation in a cabin at the nearby establishment while we were here, and can thoroughly recommend it.
Cheers,
from Romax.

This was our 3607th overall find.
Found at 1:28 PM. Shells mom loves these birds. I always laugh when people are surprised to see them this far from the ocean. I don't think they realise how far they will travel.
Thanks The Silver Snitch for the cache.

Easy find while checking out the new caravan park for future reference.

Twelfth cache of the day found on the way to the Country Swimming Championships in Loxton for the weekend, and the chance to get a couple of cache's on the way through. TNLNSL. TFTC.
Was going to go for a walk the night before and get this one but after the tent was up I ended up falling asleep as soon as I hit the mattress so got it first thing the next morning. TFTC
This one gave us more trouble than it should have because the tree trunk was so dark and the cache was hidden on the shaded side. We must have done 10 laps of that tree before the hide was revealed. Thanks The Silver Snitch.
OK, I saw the big orange but it was closed. Very pleased to see the big pelican - I guess you could say it was open, though it had a fish in its mouth, so it looked closed! Anyway, by avoiding concentrating on the pelican we actually found the cache, so thanks for an interesting site The Silver Snitch.
2284. [font=Comic Sans Ms][green]There were some red necks across the road who seemed to be interested in eating us or something. Luckily they sloped away shortly after and we could look more properly. Eventually made the find and returned to the car via the hollow nest.

Great little container. Got my family right into it. Second one my wife found, now she is so hooked she is even planning our next adventures. 13 yr old daughter is so excited, didn't wanted to stop. Keep on caching!! Team Rangitane!!!!
Find # 32 of 112 finds on our extra long weekend in the Riverland.
We parked nearby to do the LoxKat caches so strolled over to this to finish off the caches around here for us for today. The pelican looks a bit sadder than the one in the photo.

Found by Mary & David at 1500. Not looking too bad for 30 years on, although we'd rather have the real thing. Very interesting sign. Our thanks to The Silver Snitch.
Travel Day for GC1TJ3B - Let's Raid the Food Bowl and the chance to grab a few caches on the way
Now that is a big pelican but it is a small cache. TFTC.

What a wonderfull bird is a pelican his beak can hold more than the average cache. Not quite so in this case but we found the cache easily enough.
Thanks The Silver Snitch

Find # 2907 and 52nd on our trip to the riverlands at 1:54 pm. Accompanied by Feathertop, Robmc and Chewinprickles. Easy drive-by, TNLN, left my mark in the log, Thanx The Silver Snitch....
That is one ugly pelican! They are usually such an elegant bird, particularly in flight.
Nice quick find though.
Thanks, Robmc.

Thanks, Robmc.
I think there will always be a strong muggle presence here so stealth is required to grab this cache unseen.
Thanks Silver Snitch

What a nice park. Even though we were there on Easter Sunday just before lunch there really wasn't that many people around. I had no trouble in retrieving the cache.
TNLN
Thanks SS for taking here.
Fourth of our ten finds for the day.
We were camping at Mootatunga and came for a drive to Loxton for a meal at the Loxton Club and to find some geocaches.

While one was trying to retrive the other was trying to take photo's as there was planty of muggles to be seen. TFTC
This is definately the biggest pelican we have ever seen and it's certainly had quite an interesting life. It's great to see that all the work put in the past hasn't been wasted and that the pelican is still on show for all to see. We're sure that when the sight was chosen that the wheels were necessary and we truely hoped that one day they may agasin be used for the purpose thatr they are there
The cache was located quickly

Snatched while while being ovserved by the nearby watching eyes. Now I know how a targetted fish feels.
An easy find with a few of the Fullarton Venturers and K8eus, but due to lack of torches, I admit, we did use the hint (shouldnt have though, a more thorough look would have come up with the cache)

A good hide - Rocky Glen Grommets found this one while crane2 was doing some waymarking. Thanks for the cache - enjoyed it.
We checked into the caravan park and the lady who owns the park said there was a cache somewhere near the big pelican! I looked at night but had no luck but got a better discription of where to look from adrianmc at the pub. We looked again during a severe dust storm and found the cache and a almost beheaded Pelican!!!!!! TFTC TNLN
Found at 13:10 CDST.
I loved this BIG pelican, and was surprised that I had never heard of him before.
Maybe my pelican-envy made me lose my mojo a bit as I needed the hint - the cache was easily found once I read it.
Thanks Silver Snitch

No wonder there is no Murray Cod left in the river with birds like that around!
Cheers.

Well this pelican is pretty big indeed!
Found with Natskovich, newbie cacher. She was surprised by this one's hiding spot, it looks so natural!
Took nothing, left warning label and daruma (small wooden japanese doll thing, you probably won't be able to identify it)

I have a shonky recipe for pelican pie somewhere... [:o)] Wonder if it will fit in my camp oven. Probably not.
No one around today so an easy find. Stayed in the caravan park nearby.

Very convenient hide seeing as we pitched our tent about 100m away! Mrs O'Cholio: "I reckon there's a cache there". How right she was! TFTC.
A lovely spot to visit. A quick and easy cache done with doheng on a caching day in Loxton. TFTC.
Cache find #26 of 46 in our Mallee Odyssey!
A great spot...

We found our 3rd Silver Snitch cache at 1.10pm as the 13th of 16 on our Loxton Lark with Bazzars and J&J. A nice little part of the river and an easy pick up. Thanks for the cache from D & A B-A.
Innamincka 08-3. A nice area to squeeze in some lunch, a good thing I did not have to share with this guy. Thanks.

I won’t repeat our impressions of The Big Pelican other than to say “Hmmmmm…†.
This would be a whole different proposition during the summer holiday periods, but today it was a cinch [^].

We were pleased to find this cache not far from our cabin. It was dark by the time we went looking but it didn't take long to find the elusive cache. Thanks for arranging the hunt, it was fun.
Enjoyed reading the history of the pelican. I have learnt so much this geocaching trip. TNLN, TFTC
Found this cache with froghoppin and have since created my own team name and currently logging previous finds after discussions with other cachers at a recent event TFTC
... and that was some history I didn't know either. The river looked cold and grey today.
Thanks Silver Snitch .
Thanks Silver Snitch .
There was a walking muggle as I approached but they kept going, and the cache was a quick find. Read the plaque with interest. A mardi gras? Here" well I never! lol. Thanks Silver Snitch for the cache.
Wow, what an interesting history, never ever bothered to look closer at the big bird before - TFTC
Got my notes mixed up - was using Theile's cache notes - and clues!! took a while to locate this - as the co-ords were a bit out - or maybe it was our GPS?!?
But finally found it!
Got back into car and relaised about the mix up and read your clues - it would have been much easier to have done that first - cos it was so obvious!
Thanks for bringing us here!

We like this area and were happy to return to do this cache. Found the cache without any problem. Thanks The Silver Snitch
An easy find once you read the clue and ignore the dodgy gpsr readings. TFTC
Found the cache at 12.10pm. Nice area. SL. Thanks The Silver Snitch for organising the cache and hunt.
Pelican caches I think we should start a big series of these as there are so many in the state. I added to the series last week with the APC cache. Lets see some more.
Found by Sam, Jedda, Declan and Cooper. Nice easy drive-by. Took peg, Left Hair clip. SL TFTC
Find number 3. Grumpy 2 found this one. Felt like a dog scrabbling around the tree. Left a German coin and a mini-peg. We replaced the plastic bag. (Thanks Crane2)
