We parked our campervan Te Arai for a overnight stay. Today starting with a walk at the beach/forestry and to do some caches. But ...
Sorry Glen I do think you need to recheck this one too Sad at the Arai
We did have a good pook around, no find for us (if you need more info where we have looked, let me know)

Couldn't find this one. I suspect it is buried under a couple of feet of sand.

03-Jan-12
Had a good look for this one. Found the knoll, found some fallen trees which were sand buried but no log that fitted the cache page description. Did find the other one in the area and the views were amazing so thanks for taking us here anyway. Unfortunately we probably won't be returning for some time yet.

Fabulous beach. Just us and a couple of women on horseback that we’d last seen at Tomarata Lake (GC237V0)
Some advice: no access from Atkins Rd. Take the Mangawhai Forestry Camp Rd from Te Arai Point Rd. GPS didn’t know this route.

Having been further up the beach the day before with a group of mates I hit this one by myself in the drizzle. Still a fairly decent crowd out even with the weather not being the nicest. Quick little poke around and I was in business. Awesome beach - look forward to coming back here again sometime. TFTC

Like the people from Latvia we tried to go the shorter route as shown on our GPS to Tomarata Lake. Since it didn't work we ended up with a bonus getting this cache as well.

Wanted to drive to this cache from GC237V0, but no luck - the road ended too soon. Then we approach it from GCM9G8. It was a really long way, but luckily there were some other cache on our way. Thanks and greetings from Latvia!

Found quickly with great stealth as the place was crawling with muggles, (fortunately, most of them are focussed on the surf)
- Spider - Silver dolphin charm

Not the best of weather to be our and about, pity we didn't realise there was a road closeby as we had walked in the rain from the other not so nearby caches Red Face. Beach was busy with surfers but we managed a discrete find, log and contents all dry (not like our feet!) T4TC.

Many years ago, pre children we visited this spot. Thanks for bringing us back. A swimmer had stashed his bike out of sight, almost on top of the cache site! We sat on the grassy knoll with a coffee and malt biscuit and enjoyed the view.
Took badge, left a dolphin charm. TFTC

What a fantastic place and a beautiful sunny day too.
We found the cache without any problem and then went down to admire the beach.
Not too much surf today but there was still a lone surfer trying out his moves.

Came from the lookout cache, we decided to just keep walking. What a fantastic walk, as we walked through the forrest, we chatted about xmas trees and the smell of pine, I wonder why!! I think my friend is hooked on caching especially after doing the lookout cache!! Fantastic beach and walk through tracks and forrest. Thanks again for bringing me here. Took green hand. Left piglet. Came around from the other one, dont you hate it when you stumble across a road!

Took ages to find as it started raining real hard and the wind was coming in fast, my goggles got wet, spotted it in the end.

Thanks Glyn!

Another nice spot we didn't know about. Had this one to ourselves, though two motorbikes arrived just as we were leaving.

#918. A quick stroll along the beach from Forestry Lookout and soon had this in hand. Dropped in Geocoin and took TB. Having come from Te Arai Pointvia Forestry Lookout I then sought the cliff top path back. Followed a trail and before I knew it I was up to my neck in gorse and cutty grass. Long story short I reckon I clawed my way through 80 metres of this dense stuff in shorts and sandals before I saw a fence line ahead. What a relief to find the path on the other side. So for those that follow, when you take the path from the beach heading North take the left, lower fork and you should fair better. It looks less direct but believe me its shorter in time. TFTC.

Day off today so a low muggle time and time to clear some 80kms list outstanding.
Nice spot on a lovely beach. Quick find.
Thanks Glyn
Cheers TT
