It was a nice day today, so we decided to pay another visit to Rangitoto and clear a few more caches. A nice easy puzzle to solve this one and the cache was easily found at GZ - nicely camo'd too! Thanks for the puzzle and the cache!

If some one is planning to visit this one soon, I intend to change this one into a Trad, all I need is you to add a new logbook with the new cache name--"Big Cache On Island" register the current find and when I change it to a trad , you can also get the the find on this one, albeit not FTF -;)
We solved this at home and made an extra turn just to log this cache. Finding the pretty large container was more difficult than expected but we finally made it. However, the male part of the team hurt his palm while opening the well camoed box. But was not severe...
Thanks for the nice puzzle.

I must admit the idea of going back to school is not a bad one, endless holidays, "work" is only from 8.45 to 3pm and you get to come home and eat what you want at no cost to you out of mum and dad's pocket.....
Instead I'm stuck in a 7am-5pm job with only 2-3 weeks off a year with fuel bills up to our eyeballs because of this damn hobby/obsession!!
Aaah well, its the life, you cant take debt with you when you die....
On a lighter note, an awesome cache in an awesome location, thanks a lot!

Picked up on my way up the hill. Paddled over tonight and headed up straight away as the CANZ cache just got published yesterday so hope to be first to find.
Solved this one the night before our impromptu trip to Rangitoto, on a glorious autumn Saturday. Only 45 minutes 'til the ferry leaves ... do we have time for this one ? Mr Jacksonz does a run for it. It was in the first place I looked. But the camo job was too good and I didn't spot it. With my allocated 5 minutes being up, decided to give it away. But that first place I looked is definitely where I would have hidden it, so once last check and voila - the well hidden, and well disguised cache. A quick signing, and then the run for the ferry. TFTC.

I have to admit: that's quite a hard puzzle for somebody who's a non-native speaker. But Google is your friend and I was able to figure out the answer and could only hope that they were right and that I got the final right.
After getting close to GZ I still was very unsure whether I'm right or not. But coming closer and being able to make sense out of the hint, I was sure that I was right. Et voilà, yes, I got the answers right and a big box was waiting for me. Great to have such big boxes on special places like these and even no muggles around.
Enjoyed the cache very much!
Thanks!

Got this one on my second trip over to the island. Hinemoana decided to go back to school, (I was busy already being at school!) and did all the working for this one. I did know some of them already though.
So, when we were clambering up the mountain, decided to make a break for this one. Cache took forever to find, as the coordinates were about 10m out, but since there were multiple of us, and it was quiet, and with the hint, we managed to find it.
This one also had quite interesting camo! We couldn't come up with what it was though.

I have worked out the coordinates a while ago (but over 1000km away) and could not wait for the next opportunity to go and find it - took some time to search the area, but finally - success!!! TFTC
Solved this one at work yesterday but left the cords at home...luckily I ran into avoyager who was able to point me in the right direction. Great to see a big cache on the island. Thanks for this one.
A bit of school yard general knowledge (checked by google last night ) and this was an easy find. Nice big cache. TFTC
The hardwork of this puzzel had been done by evilno9, and as I was coming along for the ride up rangitoto, joined in the fun to try to find it. The was a bit of dancing and avoiding off the bees that were protecting their nest, but it made for a quick find!! TFTC
Did the puzzle bit a wee while ago when planning our day out here, then had to navigate around the big bee's nest that is near(ish) to GZ. A few of them buzzed over to see what we were up to which prompted us to find the cache, sign the log then leave in a hurry without getting stung... TFTC
Walking on lava rock was exciting as we tried not to fall on it, had to climb the hill yet..

13:34 We were on a mission today from God to rescue some sad TB's that someone has doomed to a life of solitude on this desolate island of Rock. Picked up the travel bugs on a rescue mission (see www.tb-rescue.com).
Myself and my fellow rescuer Glyn scaled the mountain trails, avoided the flying vultures from the sky. Walked amoung students of the earth to reach this cache. We stopped and had lunch near GZ, Glyns first lunch but my third
The log book was pretty wet, so we dried it out while we ate lunch. Glyn surmised that the water must be from all the tears of the stranded travellers.
Great day on the island and enjoyed the rescue mission. Thanks for the cache.

I was a little unsure of one of the digits: my first answer put it in the gulf, and my next two both put it next to tracks on the map! The latter of those seemed the more likely...and sure enough there it was! Thanks.
solved the puzzle in Sept. Enjoyed it & the nicely positioned cache. Good hints had us with cache in hand quite easily. Took 3 geo coins but had nothing to leave - will move them on quickly. Fun cache TFTC
Solved this puzzle AGES ago - finally had a chance to pop over here with a lovely invite from TWS!
Had wonderful Caching Outing BUT Very Looong long day with Gadget-Tron, GreenblAt, OG Phatazz, TWS, Great White and KiwiLeon.

Sixth of 12 Rangitoto finds today, out with Rosmar and Kiwifeet. Solved the puzzle a few days ago - pleased to see the co-ords in a likely place. A good hiding spot for the cache - used the excellent hints for an easy find. Identified the spot from a distance. The scoria was difficult to walk on here so it was nice to be able to go directly to the likely spot. Kiwifeet reached in to retrieve the cache. Thanks.

6th of our 12 finds on a day trip to Rangitoto with Kiwi Couple & Kiwi Feet. Excellent camo work and neat hinding spot T4TC.
I'm almost certain that I was searching on the right spot, since it fits description and hint perfectly. But despite 2 separate attempts I coundn't find the box.
B solved this while back home in Greymouth. We finally made it up here so had to make the trip across. Wonderful place to explore. Cache was found after a wee search. TNLN TFTC
Well, the scouts had fun sorting this one out, while staying in the scout-bach on the island. Lucky Gr8dad was there for support and some tips!!

Realised on arrival to island that I had missed one of the questions required during prior research. A quick call home solved that and after the short climb to GZ was relieved that all answers were correct! Resisted the temptation to take the pencil sharpener.

So Bobo and Jojo need to go back to school. We bush bashed 300m from the path to their calculated coordinates before I spotted their calculation error... so back we went. All good in the end!!
So..... its just so happens that I feel like there are a few variations on the possible answers. After a 30minute bush bash we arrived at "ground zero" just before commencing the search JK180 pointed out my mistake in the answers, inputted the new coordinates and we went from GZ to 1.5km from the GZ..... Oh well, my mistake, managed to find it in the end.
Found this one while on quest for The Ring with KiwiGary, glyn(the only one), Kay, Indiana Jill and JaimeMac. Lots of muggles about. Took sharpener (of course). TFTC!!
Knocked off work early to stop the Auckland Caches getting out of control.
Close to home and a great camo job.

Quick morning jaunt with Tofska,Rumo and Rala, Tramper Ted. Tofska went straight to the hide so FTF honours go to him.. I guess 2000 t caches will do that for you. A good wee puzzle, thanks St Ouens. took pencil sharpener!
Found on the way down back to the ferry - gps took me in a circle at first, but then zero'ed in on the spot! Nice camo!!

This one was great fun with XC... answering the trivia and comparing/cribbing answers with other ferry travelers, was just the beginning. We trotted down from the summit after en enjoyable lunch with the troops and headed for GZ, TK skittered across the scoria and pounced on the goods. XC and I enjoyed an alcohol flavoured egg each yum thank you.... Hic ...staggers off into the sunset

Saw it pop up last night so was able to answer the Q's with a little help from Mr Google before the big day out. Grabbed first thing on the way up in the morning. Neat camo.

amazing seeing all the different forms of GPS units and PDA's used today and the different people that enjoy the same addiction that I do
I only wish we had a geocaching community like the 1 up here in tauranga. we all ROCK.

Thanks to Glyn & Kay & Zorgon for encouragement to back-track and get this one. I'd come round Wilson Park track, but made the effort up the track & Back To School. Cozy little hide-away and super camo job again. Good place for a bigger cache. Well done! The trip down with TWS & Zork was pleasant and seemed shorter than that going up? Hmm.
Despite still feeling groggy from all the wine consumed in the hut, a good group effort had this puzzle solved in less than 5 minutes. Damn - we'd walked past it only hours ago! However, there's still time for a quick FTF mission before the ferry full of geocachers arrives.

Ahaaa...the name is fitting..Sharpeners and Sharp lava rocks Sat chatting with Glyn and Zork and whilst others logged this cache. Gencuster and kids found this one first. The last leg (limp) of the journey on our way down to meet the ferry. Thanks another excellent cache.
We got the description from M@ late in the hut the day before and solved it together with M2ZT3 and Tramper Ted. Then we went to bed...and jumped out again early (too early...) in the morning to have a - as TT called it - "fast walk up the hill". We would call it workout. At least we were awake then.

15:25 Another brilliantly camo'd hide... Spotted cache then waited for some other cachers and a muggle (you all know who you are... ) to find it before we all stood around and signed the log and pinched pencil sharpeners.
Very sharp and black lava. Enjoyed the cache and well done for placing it before the event St. Ouens.
Strolled down slowly to the wharf with Glyn & Co. to make a pleasant end to a throughly enjoyable day. In keeping with my policy of not stripping a location of caches, there are two left to do on another trip - Issy Bay & that mystery one
