Out caching with Whimppeys and finishing up the RT 66 series we started a year or so ago. Had a blast doing this power trail and enjoyed all the history of this area. Thanks for all the great caches and good fun! [^]
We had a great time finishing the Route 66 Trail with Barb N Gene. It was Mr. Whimppey's Birthday weekend.
It is just really too bad when a business trip is planned in a place like Las Vegas and I have an opportunity to come early to do a little caching before the meeting. When I found out I was heading to the south west, I made arrangements to do just that. Come down early and hit the Route 66 power trail. I have wanted to do this trail for quite some time. Last year I was down in the area and managed to get the E. T. Highway cleaned up. Of course, I will need to plan a return trip to that trail at some point since they have added quite a few more caches since I got the 1500 that were there last year. For this trip, a good friend, Vulcan64, was able to get some time off and join me for a caching adventure. So we flew down on Tuesday from Sioux Falls and then we worked our way down to Barstow, grabbing a couple of caches along the way. We tried to focus our attention on virtual caches and earth caches for the first night, but there were some terrific targets of opportunity that we could not pass up. In the morning, we took a little walk to grab a nearby cache since breakfast was not ready to be served. Once we got a quick breakfast, we took off for the trail. Once again, there were a few nice targets for us to grab before we made our way down to cache 001. From there we hit the trail with gusto. We did get a couple of other nice caches along the way as well, but our goal was to get the Route 66 trail done in a day. We managed to get it done. What a great trail! We had a lot of fun and we managed to stay safe. Only a few cuts and bumps along the way. By the time we the moon was starting to rise, a beautiful full moon, by the way, we were still about a hundred short of completing the trail. The light of the fading sun was precious, but fleeting. We went as fast as we could, but we ended up finishing in the dark. Good thing we brought flash lights along with us. We signed the logs as VB for Vulcan64 and Beta59. Thanks for all of the great caches, on the trail as well as before, after and in between.
Beta 59 and I flew into Las Vegas on Tues. afternoon to start our adventure. We headed out to Barstow, Ca. as this would be our starting point to begin the Route 66 caching trail. Our goal we set for ourselves was to try to get all the trail done in one day. This was my first trip to the area. Certainly different than South Dakota. Warmer and drier. During this trip I was able to make some new records and add to some current ones. I appreciate all the work involved in making this trail. I enjoyed the whole day. Doing a trail like this with a good friend really makes it go so much better. We signed the logs as V B. TFTC. Mandy'sMom
Together with Hallén, joy.se and TMT68 on a two week trip to the US. We logged all caches with our initials HIJT unless logged as our single nicks.
Target was to visit some trails and inbetween do some limited sightseeing. We limited the caching hours to daylight time only but days became long anyhow.
Trip was planned already 6 month back in time and a very good preparation work on the details made this trip widely exceed the targets we had set.
Weather conditions were excellent except the day with 108 degrees F we faced in the Mojave desert. Not one single drop of rain, only sun and a mostly cloud free clear sky all the time called for quite some dust to face !
Many thanks go to all CO who made this trip become real with so many caches at nice places including the great power trails .

Holiday power cache run! We came here exactly a year ago to start the series, today we finished! Thanks to all that placed and maintain this series. All quick grabs even when we got punchy near the end!
Pars18, Larry the pool guy and I headed out to the Route 66 series today for a full day of power trail caching. Since pars18 and Larry the pool guy had already completed the first half, we started at #381 and headed east. That allowed both of them to complete the series. I, on the other hand, will have to return to complete the first half. We also augmented our run to include all of the Non-Route 66 caches along the way. Made for quite a long day and a new one-day record for me. As we proceeded, we repaired any that needed some TLC and replaced some broken ones. Now I need to resupply my stash of containers!
Had a great day and perfect weather. Thanks to Team Stevecat and the other COs for all their work in setting up this run. Got a great history lesson along the way.
Also was amused to note that the number of trains we saw greatly outnumberd the vehicles on the road. Trans = 7, vehicles = 3 for the first three hours.
This was just one of the many caches found by us today. TFTC-SL

I had wanted to finish this Series for sometime. After a discussion with some fellow cachers we formed a group of three ; Cache O' Plenty, Larry The Pool Guy, and Pars18. Cache O' Plenty put together a plan that would complete the Route 66 Series for both Larry the pool guy and Pars18, but he would still have to return another day in the future to finish it. We ended up getting all the numbered caches plus some extra ones that were added or had originally been there . This was one of the extra caches we logged during our 66 run. It didn't take long to figure out why this was named. Thanks to Mandy'sMom for adding to our fun today. We really had a great time thanks to Larry (Larry The Pool Guy) and Steve (Cache O' Plenty) for joining our team.
My day started out at 4:00 am when I first got in the pool truck to drive up to the meeting spot at McDonalds near the Lake Silverwood Exit. Sitting in their cars ready to go was Pars 18 and CacheOPlenty. At 6:30 am our group starting finding hides and stamping logs this pattern continued till 5:30 pm. The desert was kind to our group today with little wind and cool temperatures. Thanks to all that placed caches for me to find. I now have a new one day record !
Thank you Team Stevecat for placing this series! My brother (cablecache) and our dad (Skip&Jessie) did this series in one car in 1 1/2 days, leaving room to get the rest of the misc. cache in this region. We planned our vacation based on getting this series after the Yuma Mega Event. This was an experience I will never forget! Thank you for placing these in a historic, take-me-back-to-our-roots, enjoy-the-silence of-mother-nature, on the Mother Road. So amazing! Truly...TFTC!!!
2nd day of power trail,we finished it off just the 2 of us wife and i. signed log W26,we are sure glad that it is over because by the end of the 2nd day i was getting sore from jumping berms and running up and down little hills. thanks to all the C.O.'S who put these out did 440 today (399 from rt66 the rest from various C.O.'S ) . i can say with great clarity now i will be doing more power runs.!!
Alaska's Team KLM is having fun and getting our Kicks and Kaches on Route 66! We enjoyed the warm weather, scenery, and history along the roadway! SL, TFTC, [red]Li1gray[/red]

On holidays from Australia we had planned on doing a spot of caching whilst in and around Barstow and Las Vegas. One of our goals was to complete the Route 66 series. Early start, late finish was in order and after a long 15+ hours, we completed the series and some extra's along the way. Wow what an experience that was! FurfacesLL No 2 sprained her ankle on the Yermo series, and FurfacesLL No 1 was down with a cold, So we were very pleased with ourselves. A days' rest then off to tackle the ET Highway! Thanks to the cache owners for all the work in maintaining these caches.
Found in the company of Earthbound Chief, aka Dad on our 'Boys Own Adventure' after I spent the summer working in Michigan and before going home to Australia. A drive along the Route 66 was a must! TFTC
Getting our caching kicks on Route 66 with micaparamedic, Ozibgs and EB Contax

Found while doing the route 66 PT with micaparamedic and Earthbound Chief from Australia. TFTC
Thanks for all the hard work and time it took to place all these caches. Ultrahide and I went on a 10 day epic camping adventure through NM, AZ, CA, NV, UT and back to CO. We ended up with 1,744 caches including 32 virtuals, 6 WIGs and 5 events after 3,080 miles. We had a great time finding these caches. We signed the log as Team NOCO and a TB number. I wish I had the time to log a personal log on each cache like normal but there are way too many to remember the details now. Thanks for the cache. Happy Trails.
Found with emzernask while getting our kicks on. Stamped the log as Crazy Canucks.

This is our second day after managing about 600+ caches yesterday.
After many months waiting we are finally here, we where fortunately enough to meet the cache owners at an event, but even more fortunate to have mild weather.
We completed the series plus a few side caches in about two days and loved it
More detailed log posted on 001-Route 66 ( http://coord.info/GC2Q8GK )
Signed our logs using team name: SAM : (Sol de Lune ,Albida and mtrax)

Second day of caching along Rt 66, We are having a blast!!. Britpitts and I are making all the finds and my wife, the supper muggle, is doing all the driving.
Last Friday we flew to Los Angeles. We mainly came for the ET and Route-66 series and to collect points for our statistics. We pick upped our rental car and drove to Barstow. That evening we did one cache nearby the hotel.
On Saturday we drove from out hotel in Barstow to our hotel in Tonopah and did some caches on the way.
On Sunday, a bit confused about the right time, we explored the beginning of the E.T. series and found the first 60 caches.
We went to bed early and the next day on Monday we started just after midnight for our 24 hour run. It was hard work especially in the dark but we did over 1200 caches that Monday.
After a good night rest we finished the next day on Tuesday the series. Afterwards we did the caches on the route back to Tonopah.
Before leaving for Barstow again we visited the oldest cache of Nevada. When we past it in the evening it was too dark to go for it. On route we also did some caches.
On Thursday from Barstow we did Route-66, beginning at sunrise until deep in the evening we managed to do the whole series plus the extra caches at the beginning and at the end of the trail.
The Friday was our last whole caching day. We started with an 2000 cache in the mountains near Barstow. After that we did the "Yer-Mo" Run!. After that we tried - The Phonetic Alphabet trail - but the road was too bumpy for our rented car so we headed for the - Planes Trains & Automobiles - . We did enough cars and planes and a lot of trains for the bonus cache.
Saturday on the way to LAX we did one cache on the route. The weather was terrible with sand storms and heavy rain but we managed to arrive safely to the airport and flew home.
This cache was found at 19:54.
All CO thanks for the caches. We enjoyed them very much!

Back to finish Route 66 today and to get to my 5000th cache! It was a great day. Thanks for bringing us out here for all the exercise and fun!! TFTC TNLNSL
It looks like this old cache has become a victim of the migrating cache syndrome. What's there now is one of the Rte 66 series 35mm film containers, with a series log, even. Thank you for the point tho.
Thanks for this cache! We found it today while completing the Route 66 run! SL!
