Team Beaufort

This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).

I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.

Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache.

If you plan on repairing this cache, please log a note to the cache (not email) within the next 45 days so I don't archive the listing for non-communication.

CO has not logged in for years, and appears to be a long way from Blackall. Not responsive to messages.

There is NO container. I extracted the cork and looked into the stump. The last actual find was December 2019.

Outback roadtrip Day 3 - Blackall and surrounds. Left the van park before dawn to hit the road early and do a big loop away from town. Caches were mostly in excellent condition, a few haven't had any visitors in some time. We found this one, but it looks like the container has fallen down into the stump and we couldn't retrieve it.

Thanks for giving us a reason to visit, **Team Beaufort**. Our log is trackable, mention this cache.

In town for QOGM 2019.We have had a wonderful weekend with friends old and new. Our thanks to the organisers and CO's for all they have done to make the weekend so great.

I've had some technology issues over the weekend so instead of logging in order, I am logging today what I know we have found just to clear the backlog.

All caches were in good order, our TB's visited each cache. TFTC

Another day of caching during our QOGM adventure. So many caches to find, so little time! We are having so much fun! Back in Blackall, we took a break to cool down a bit. It is really HOT out there today! Then we headed out to find a few more caches. Another quick find and sign and we are on our way again. TFTC

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.

We set up camp on the river, with all the other caravans... Great spot to base our selves while we cached.

Worked this one out a while ago, in anticipation of our visit to Blackall. Despite being seventeen metres out we found it in the obvious spot (according to the hint) Thanks TEam Beaufort.

03-Apr-19
Before heading out to Blackall, I cherry picked out a few caches that I was keen to capture for my overnight work trip. After collecting the oldie Comet Black headed out a bit further to an obvious spot to collect this multi.

Parking on the dry dirt road sections, tip toed across the muddy ground to GZ on my GPS. Nothing obvious here but about 10m away there was something that made sense for the hint provided. Checked a few spots before spotting the cache in a tight little hole. No fast & clean extraction here. Had to improvise with two stick used a bit like chopsticks before the cache cme to hand.

Later that day traveled back to the area and spoke to the caretaker who knows all about the hide. It seems that recent cachers provide much amusement to those that are watching!! Thanks for maintaining this cache Team Beaufort.

Public holiday in Germany today! They are celebrating the Fall of the Berlin Wall or rather the peaceful Unification of West and East Germany to Federal Republic of Germany.

Great QOGM events are over, we are on our way home, but we are staying here to grab some caches.
Thanks to all COs for the caches. We stopped at every traditional, searched sometimes fast, sometimes it took longer. 3 we couldn't locate.

We had fun, that's the main thing!

Thanks again.

TFTC. We are back in Blackall for a few days as we head slowly south back to Maryborough, Victoria. Left a little late from Barcaldine, and arrive here around 1pm. After setting up in the camp by the river, we went ointment to attempt the balance of caches around town. WE managed 8 finds, 3 DNFs and 1 unattempted. Will have another go tomorrow or the next day.

Day 5 of the caching trip as we head to Barcaldine for the QOGM Event. Commenced with doing caches around the town of Blackall and just out of Blackall, and then took the road to our destination of Barcaldine. Day 5 of our road trip to the QOGM and collecting a few caches in and just out of Blackall as well the ones on the road to Barcaldine. Thank you so much to all the COs who have placed caches along the highways and byways that we will travel over in the fourteen days we are away. Without your caches we would not see and/or learn about your local area.
Arrived just as TeamPESTI had completed the calculations so we helped search for the cache. Soon found and signed.

Mrs Patrol14 and I are on a road trip to Barcaldine for the QOGM events. We met up with Snickersallan and team Diel in Toowoomba and they will follow us to Barcy.

This morning we saw Imbunda pull in to do the cache at Muckadilla and hijacked her. She is now going to tag along with us to Barcy. Our little convoy is growing!

For this stage of the journey, all logs were signed PESTI to save space on logbooks.

P- Patrol14
E- echocage1
S- Snickersallan
T- team Diel
I- Imbunda

We are in Blackall now and have set up camp and are now back out caching.
Reading the cache listing I knew who was being referred to so I strained some brain cells to remember the numbers. A double check with Uncle Google and I had the coords in my phone before I set out from Brisbane. Once here with the numbers rolling down we had a visual on a likely spot and Bingo again!

Finally we have reached Blackall after leaving our camp site near "Down the Drain", following the cache trail until hitting civilisation once more. After refuelling the cars and our bodies we hit a few caches in town before leaving for Barcaldine with micaparamedic , Papi4506 & Geoturtle37, which will be our home for the next week.
With clues collected we made the find after approaching from the wrong way.

Hi there Team Beaufort.

We are on our way to [QOGM](https://coord.info/GC7P875), the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster, which is being held in Barcaldine. We are camped in Blackall, so we're nearly there.

We cached to the north of Blackall today and thoroughly enjoyed today's cache finds Our find count for today was 4 caches & we DNF'd 1 (perhaps due to cache blindness Wink). Thanks for placing the cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels as we continue our nomadic wanderings around Australia.

**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found this cache around 21m from where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
**Cache Condition:** We found the log sheet in a tree and the container some distance away. We placed the cache in one of the stumps next to the tree.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge if the container was big enough..

Thanks for the hunt today,

Regards

Ian & Penny.

Hi there Team Beaufort,

RE: Your cache **"Fast & Clean"**

We are really sorry to report that the cache is UV damaged and possibly not where the CO intended it to be, as the actual find was some 21 metres from our calculated GZ. (See our found log).

It really needs some owner TLC.

Regards

Ian & Penny

With Fangsoki and Crew153 in the mighty Canyonero, we hit the outback in search of the oldest and finest Queensland has to offer. 6000+ kms in 8 days - an epic journey. Day two and we are here. Some quick research and we were off to final GZ. A bit of a hunt around before Crew153 noticed the sucker hiding from us. Could do with a little TLC. Nice (and appropriate) spot.
Thanks Team Beaufort for entertaining me at this location.

26-Aug-18
When Fangsoki and Pprime (P') mentioned about a road trip to get the old caches in outback Queensland I jumped at the chance to see some of our great country. The 8 day tour covered some 6,000km and a day on a boat in the Whitsundays. I wouldn't have missed the adventure for the world.

The man in question has been a legend that I remember from my childhood. We gathered the required information and then headed to the search area. The coordinates did not give us any definite hunting spot but the hint and previous logs helped narrow down the search area and I was lucky enough to be looking in the right direction to spot the log book in the fork of the tree.
The CO might like to check in it as there is no container.

TFTC Team Beaufort

26-Aug-18
Crew 153, Pprime (P`), and I decided to head west to get some of Queendland's oldest caches. This one is not one of the oldest - but it is still old enough!

I actually didn't know there was such an individual. I thought it was just a brand or something. "The more you know..."

We enjoyed collecting the information and then moved off to our calculated final. We must have dones something slight amiss - because we were about 20m from an area that matched the hint. After looking around for a while, we checked the log. Crew 153 found what was left of the cache "in the tree". A lid and a log. That will do us. We signed the log and re-hid the "cache" as found.

An enjoyable lesson on history. TFTC Team Beaufort Smile

16-May-18
A good multi with 2 good locations After a long day travelling yesterday we set out again today hoping to eat up a lot more K's on our push towards Kununnura. We just find it hard to drive past a cache so the journey may take us a bit longer than we had planned. We need to be in Western Australia by the end of the month, so we have some big days ahead of us.
It has been a bonus however, as quite a number of caches highlight interesting places or provide historical information and local anecdotes which adds to our interest. Great work by the COs and much appreciated.
We have finally arrived in Blackall, so after filling up with some cheaper diesel we parked the car and caravan and took to the 'deadly treddlies' for some much needed exercise and have a geocaching tour of town.
After a circuit round town we were back in the main street again where we collected the required information and came up with a set of coordinates that seemed plausible.
But it wasn't until we were back in the car that we proceeded to GZ where we made the find.
A great story and 2 good locations!

We were finishing off the last of the caches in Blackall before heading down to Quilpie picking up caches along the way.

This was an enjoyable little multi, wpt1 was quite interesting and it's really hard to believe that the record hasn't been broken even with the use of modernized equipment, definitely a fitting memorial. Once at gz we located the cache quite quickly in a logical place but had a little bit of trouble removing it from it's hidey hole. It seems that it may have slipped into it's hide a little bit further so after adding our name to the log we put a little bit of packing in that will hopefully help the next finder retrieve it.

Thanks Team Beaufort for the cache.

First surprised by the distance to the cache, had to double check my numbers.
Then it made sense.

Signed log and returned to a more safe place, hopefully were CO had palced it originally.

I solved this one with pre-existing knowledge while sitting in camp this morning having brekky.

As far as the subject person was concerned we knew the first six numbers needed from a song. Our thanks go to Team Beaufort for a hide placed near a local place of interest.

REPLACED AND ALL GOOD TO GO

RoddyC and I were in Barcaldine when we saw five new ones around Blackall and came down for those and we came out to this one and placed a new container and log. Still inside the square but now not at ground level and not in a tree. The couple down at the information centre at the wool scour knew about this one and there is a story at How this one possibly disappeared. Go down and ask. They are very happy that a cache is back as it was bringing visitors to them as well.

7:38PM

It's a shame about the two caches in this town. Both are solved within walking distance around town, but are the actually GZ is quite a lot farther away. Sadly, for a visitor to this town without a vehicle, it's difficult to access the true GZs. I solved this one earlier in the day, and after making the long jog out of the main town in the dark of night to find the other cache I vetoed attempting to find this cache afterwards. It was just too far, dark and dangerous to attempt.

Travelling around Australia and currently visiting outback Queensland.

Mr Felix solved as many local puzzles as he could last night. 1 still eluded us.

So this morning Mr Felix headed out to find the puzzles he solved and Mrs Felix set out to find the letterbox and complete the wherigo.

Fun morning then a rush to be on our way.

Grabbed the info and then stopped at the waypoint of Comet Black before heading out to grab the finals before leaving town. Took a few minutes to spy the cache, but all located and log signed.

Found by Sunshine Toledo and Her Majesty at 9:00am. Found after looking for a couple of minutes. We are staying in the caravan park for a few days so cleared these caches. TFTC

I worked this one out before I left home, and then on my arrival in Blackall I went straight to GZ. Only thing is though, I couldn’t find the cache. I found an area that matched the hint, and there were a couple of rocks and a sheet of metal that I thought might cover the cache, but no cache. So off I went to WP1 to check my coordinates. I got the same result, so back to the same GZ I went. My Garmin had this about 22 metres off GZ, but following the hint I dug around even more, and then I uncovered the cache. TFTC Team Beaufort.

Cairns trip 2016. Day 3. Today was a solid day heading north with only a small amount of caching as I visited Cunamulla, Charlieville and finished the day in Barcaldine. I had no problems with the questions and found a very likely spot near the calculated GZ, but no container in the indent.

Thanks.
